by Emma Vikes

Silence fell once more as I continued to stare out of the window.

“Thanks for coming for me Damian.” She finally said after a while.

“I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if anything had happened to you.” I responded, turning to face her for the first time.

There was a yearning in her eyes that wanted me to go on, to keep talking. But I stayed silent. I had dropped enough bombs on her for one day. Anything else I wanted to say could wait.

“Come to bed.” She said simply as she pursed her lips.

I obliged and walked towards the bed. When I arrived, she shifted a bit to allow me space to get in. As soon as I got in, she swaddled closer to me, ensuring that I cuddled her.

  “Thank you.” She said again.

Minutes later, we’d both drifted off to sleep, completely exhausted with the events of the day.

I woke up in the early hours of Saturday when Vanessa stirred in my arms.

As my eyes opened, it took me a minute to get familiar with my surroundings.

I was in Chicago rescuing Vanessa and at the moment, she was safe and wrapped up in my arms. I had to figure out what we were going to do today though, as we couldn’t continue to hide out indefinitely.

I tried to move only to meet stiff resistance from Vanessa.

“Where are you going?” She asked softly.

“Nowhere.” I responded with a chuckle. “I didn’t know you were awake?”

“Good. Stay put.” She answered simply causing me to giggle all over again.

“There’s something I’ve been trying to tell you since the beginning of this week Damian.” She finally said after a while.

“Me first.” I responded. “All the while I was calling you yesterday and couldn’t reach you, fearing the worst had happened, I kept praying and promising that if I meet you alive and well, I wasn’t going to hesitate to tell you that I... that I love you.” I continued as I felt her body grow stiff.

It was the truth however. Through the fear and uncertainty and most definitely through the turbulence in the sky, I’d finally realised how much I actually loved Vanessa. I didn’t know exactly when it had happened, but I was certain that it had happened. That had fuelled my fear even more; the fact that if I’d known and told her early, she wouldn’t have fallen victim to Dylan’s scam, or the fact that she was going to get hurt and I was never going to get the opportunity to tell her how I felt.

I’d kept on vowing and promising and even when I met her hale and hearty, I still didn’t tell her yesterday. I’d been given a second opportunity and I wasn’t going to waste it.

“I love you, Vanessa. That’s why I wouldn’t have been able to forgive myself, if anything had happened to you yesterday.”

She turned then and looked at me. Now it was my turn to remain frozen as her eyes bored holes deep into my soul.

  “I just...”

Her finger came up and rested on my lips as her mouth made the ‘shhh’ sound. At first, I was alarmed that she was about to turn me down lightly, till she spoke.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you since Monday. I love you too Damian.” She smiled. “I’ve ignored it for as long as I can remember, but I can ignore it no longer.”

I could have sworn I didn’t hear her correctly as my mind continued to process what she had just said.

  ‘Vanessa loves me too?’

If I was confused before, my mind became clearer when she leaned forward and kissed me.

As she drew her head back to look into my eyes, I swooped down quickly and kissed her right back, causing her to chuckle.

“You love me too?” I found myself whispering into her lips.

“Yes, I do.” She whispered right back as the kiss continued to deepen.

Just when the kiss seemed like it was going to get out of control, I pulled back and asked her if this was what she wanted and if she wanted to wait.

“I’ve waited for over five years and you think that’s not enough?” She laughed.

I laughed while her lips came closer and latched on to mine, continuing our kiss. My hands began roaming and as soon as they brushed across her nipples, a slight moan escaped her lips.

Her moan was more than encouragement for me as I sat up, straddled her and began kissing her deeper and deeper. My hands found their way under her blouse and bra and began massaging her boobs and stroking her nipples, driving her wild with desire.

Her moans intensified causing me to lift her upper body and get rid of her of her top clothing with swift hand movements. As I lay her back down, she was naked from the waist up.

I lowered myself back down and picked one of her erect nipples into my mouth.

“Oh!” She moaned as I continued to suck on it.

Without giving her respite, I pulled the second nipple towards my mouth, adjusting and taking both of them in, thus driving her wild. She began to writhe with pleasure, as her moans began to form into words.

“Fuck me please.” She whispered when she could find her voice.

That was all I needed, as I let go of her nipples and proceeded to strip her from the waist down of any clothing. Now she was stark naked beneath me. By the time I was out of my clothes as well, my erection was already at its peak, ready to take the plunge. Seeing it, her legs parted slightly beneath me as she bit on her lips.

I settled my erection between her legs and looked at her once last time, as if seeking permission. The desire I saw in her eyes sent me over the edge.

Slowly, I entered her, causing her to gasp. By the time I was buried to the hilt in her, her eyes had closed in delight. I stayed buried for a bit before pulling back as slowly as I had entered. She was so wet that there was little or no resistance in my entry or retreat. She gritted her teeth in pleasure as I drove in again, using my hands to support my weight on either side of her.

“Oh, my goodness!” She whispered with her eyes still closed, causing me to smile.

I began thrusting evenly causing her hands to come up around me. One hand made it behind my neck while the other caressed my back as she kept moaning and uttering words of pleasure.

“Yes baby. Keep going. Right there. Oh gosh!!!”

Spurred on by her utterances, the speed of my thrusts began to increase. With an increase in speed came an increase in intensity of her moans.

  “I love you.” She moaned

“I love you too.” I grunted in reply as I continued to thrust away.

Sensing that she was nearing her peak, I bent down and clasped one of her nipples with my lips causing her back to arch from off the bed and her legs to wrap around me in a bid to get closer to my thrust.

“Baby!” She screamed as her hand clawed at my back and the walls of her vagina clenched in orgasm.

I followed right behind as my balls hardened and began to spurt my liquid into her vagina.

We convulsed together in ecstasy, riding the wave to the peak and then crashing back down to earth.

When I opened my eyes some seconds later, I found that I had collapsed on top of her while she embraced me tightly with both hands and feet.

“I love you sweety.” I whispered as I gave her a peck on her boobs, in the position where I could feel her heart beating in her chest.

She smiled and embraced me tighter without saying a word.

After what seemed like an eternity, she finally whispered back.

“I love you too baby.” She responded.

  CHAPTER 16

  Vanessa

MY RINGING PHONE WOKE me up, same way it woke up Damian, who was still nestled on top of me.

Somehow, we’d managed to fall asleep after our tryst, content and satisfied. Left to me, I’d have allowed the phone to continue ringing, but Damian shifted from on top me to allow me stretch over and reach for the phone.

I froze, becoming instantly alert immediately as my eyes spied the caller ID.

“It’s Dylan.” I shrieked holding the phone towards Damian’s face.

  Damia
n looked at the phone briefly before responding.

“Don’t answer it.” He said as he got up from the bed and immediately sprang into action.

He fished around for his trousers as the phone in my hand continued to ring until it went unanswered. Finally, he found his trouser, pulled his phone out of the pocket, sat down on the bed and began dialling someone, the same instant my phone began ringing again with a second call from Dylan.

I dumped the phone on the bed as soon as Damian began talking on his call.

“Good day, Horacio.” He said, pausing for what I imagined was a response.

“Yes, I got to her safely. Now we are hiding out in a hotel.” He responded.

“I need your help coming up with a plan Horacio. That’s why I’m reaching out to you.”

The conversation continued as I got distracted by an incoming message; from Dylan. I opened it and read it silently to myself.

‘Where are you? I called you all through yesterday and you didn’t pick up? And you still aren’t picking. Get back to me, I’m worried.’

The sweetness of the text almost had me wanting to believe that Damian had made a mistake; that the Dylan he was talking about was definitely someone else. I reined my thoughts in as quickly as they appeared. If anyone else had told me what Damian had told me about Dylan, there would probably have been room for doubt; but not Damian. Plus, there was no way Dylan and I could go on now, that Damian and I had become an item. I just needed to help Damian figure out a way for me to get back to my life without being in Dylan’s crosshairs.

I waited patiently for the call to be over before rolling over to place my head in Damian’s laps.

  “What now?” I asked expectantly.

“What now is that we bait Dylan. Since the cops have nothing on him, we have to bait him into giving us something. We also have to be careful, so that he doesn’t get a whiff of our plans or else he might disappear into the wind.”

“Then I guess I better reply his text now.” I responded while picking up my phone to show Damian the text Dylan had sent.

“I also need to meet up with him sometime today, as I already promised we were going to see. If I don’t show up, he would know something’s up and I’ve been spooked.” I continued as Damian read the text.

“I’m definitely coming along with you.” Damian grunted which got me smiling. Even as best friends, he was fiercely protective of me. Now that we were a couple, I could only imagine how much safer I’d feel with him around.

“No silly. If we need to get him on something, we need him relaxed. If you show up, he would definitely not be in ease.” I responded smiling.

“You might be right. But I’m not letting you into a meeting with him without knowing for sure that you won’t be harmed.” He answered as his phone began ringing again.

“Horacio.” He responded as soon as he picked the call.

“Splendid. That works perfectly. I’d text you our address so you can hand it over to them. We need to set up something fast, so they best hit the road.” He continued.

He dropped the call and faced me.

“Horacio is getting some of his friends involved. Some of them are bounty hunters and private investigators like him, while the rest are actually with Chicago PD. They would be on their way shortly.

“Awesome.” I smiled, realising Damian was moving heaven and earth to protect me.

One hour later and our hotel room was full and had been turned into some sort of base for our sting operation on Dylan.

A female detective stood briefing me on how to conduct myself while the rest of the gang went over the plan. Dylan had no idea as I had already reached out to him with an explanation for my absence, telling him I was going to meet him for lunch. He had been pacified.

Somewhere along the line, Lisa had shown up and was already brought up to speed with the developing story. If I was pissed, Lisa was beyond furious. She was also going through the plan as she was itching to get a piece of Dylan in court.

“You need to be very careful, Miss Vanessa.” The female detective was saying as she attached a wire to me. Collins Glendale is a very cunning and tricky son of a bitch. Once he knows you are on to him, that’s it.” She continued.

“Don’t worry.” I assured her. “We would get him this time.” I continued, my eyes gaining contact with Damian all the way in the other end of the room as he winked at me.

As soon as I was done being prepped, the room began to clear. A certain contingent was going to stay back and monitor the operation from base, but the rest were going along with me to ensure that nothing happened to me.

I met Damian at the door and kissed him before we began walking hand in hand towards my vehicle; which some had retrieved from my house for the purpose of this operation.

As I got in, Damian squeezed my hand and whispered ‘I love you.’ I whispered right back and blew him a kiss as he turned and began walking to his rental, where Lisa and another of Horacio’s friend waited. I picked up my phone and texted Dylan I was on my way before dropping it and checking my makeup. Part of the stint was that I was made up to look irresistible, hopefully to distract Dylan and get him to spill what we needed him to. I smirked at my reflection before taking my eyes off the mirror and starting my engine.

As I pulled away from the parking lot and into the street, I could count up to five cars that had fallen in line and were escorting me to my date; some of which were unmarked Chicago PD detective vehicles.

‘You are in trouble Dylan.’ I smirked as my earpiece came alive.

“All mic checks. Vanessa can you hear me?” the female detective was saying.

  “Loud and clear.” I responded.

“Good. We are going to be with you every step of the way.” She was saying. “Just be calm.”

Her advice was useless because for some reason, I was uncharacteristically calm. Whether it was because I had Damian and Lisa following close behind me, or whether it was because the little army that escorted me had enough ammunition to start a mini war in Chicago, I was confident that I was fine.

I breathed as Damian came online and began talking with me. Time passed and before I knew it, I was pulling up into the venue for my lunch with Dylan.

The valet walked up and took my keys as I stepped out, only to be greeted by the Maître’d who welcomed me and walked me towards the table where Dylan was already seated.

“This is it guys.” I heard the female detective saying. “We are a go.”

“Hey baby.” Dylan said standing as I arrived at the table. He planted a kiss on my lips which I accepted.

Over the earphone, I could hear Damian grunt, which almost made me erupt in laughter.

“Hey.” I responded simply as we sat back down in our seats.

“Only the best and most expensive wine for my sweetheart.” Dylan said, discharging the waiter who left us with the menu.

We began fumbling through the list, making small conversations all in a bid to get him relaxed.

“That’s it. Make him relax.” The female detective was saying into my ear.

We continued talking as the waiter returned, got our orders, opened the wine and left. Dylan handed me a glass and made to raise a toast.

“To us. May our love be as beautiful as the full moon and as timeless as the constellations in the night sky.” He remarked.

“What a Casanova.” Someone smirked in my earpiece, causing me to smile as I clinked my glass with Dylan’s.

The person was right though. No wonder Dylan had always been successful. He was as smooth as they came.

‘Thank goodness I was no longer a fish in his net.’ I wondered.

“So, Dylan, I really don’t know much about your past.” I said, repeating what the female detective was whispering into my ear.

“There’s nothing to know. I feel like my life reached a turning point when I met you. Nothing before that matters.” He responded.

“Awww. How sweet. But if we are getting married, shouldn’t
I at least know what my fiancé was like before I met him?” I continued, repeating after the voice in my ear.

Still Dylan remained evasive. No matter the tactic and attempt to get him to say something incriminating throughout lunch, he stayed on course to turning this operation into another failure.

“This isn’t working.” Someone finally said into my ears, causing me to excuse myself and head for the bathroom.

After staring at my reflection in the mirror, while listening to all the ideas from everyone on how best to proceed, I finally made a decision.

“Guys, I’m taking things up a notch. It’s time to do this my way.” I said boldly into the microphone.

The first protest was raised by Damian and I had to calm him down before explaining some parts of my plan.

I adjusted the bodice to push my boobs upwards. Satisfied with the result, I walked out of the bathroom to more protests from Damian. I already knew what I had to do so I silenced his voice in my head. By the time I arrived back at the table, the radio had gone quiet as everyone listened in anticipation.

“I’m done with lunch.” I said seductively while leaning over and giving Dylan full view of my sultry bosom from the top of my dress. “How about we head to your place for dessert?” I winked as I turned and headed out of the restaurant. Dylan was up in an instant, settling the bill and pursuing me out of the restaurant, his eyes filled with lust.

Our cars arrived and we got in, with me driving in front of him on the way to his house. Looking in my rear view, I could also see that my entourage had fallen in behind us even though they were careful not to be discovered; not like Dylan was going to notice anyway as his mind was miles away in lust wonderland.

“So, what now?” I heard Damian say.

“Just listen.” I responded simply and kept silent.

No one else spoke as everyone seemed to be following my lead.

By the time we arrived at Dylan’s house, I sat back in the car to give one more instruction.

“I’m going in now. Detective Tara, I want you to pay close attention. I trust you would know when to come in.” I said.
