Chapter Six
Party Time
At school, everyone was talking about Corbin and Parkers little run in, I didn’t see the big deal about it. I was at my locker when Parker came up to me and poked me in the sides I jumped,
“Parker you scared me.” I laughed
“Hey sexy, thought I would walk you to class, If that ok?” he was smiling he was in a good mood,
“Sure, let me get my books; is that big assignment due today?” I asked digging around in my locker,
“No Thursday, so it’s ok.” I took a big sigh of relief, I grabbed my books, slammed my locker door and took Parker’s hand and we walked down the hall. We got many looks, but then Corbin saw him and me walking hand in hand he growled as he passed me. I never heard that before so I looked at him in shock his eyes were big and very dark, darker than I have ever seen them.
We walked into class it went smoothly, Corbin didn’t say anything during class but when I turned around and our eyes met, I could see that he was still angry with me, I hated it but he was going to have to deal with it until he decided to tell me what's been going on, since I knew that wasn’t happening he was going to have to suffer seeing me with Parker.
School was out and I was walking towards my car when Tony walked up to me,
“Nora, Hey I am having a party this Friday and I want you and Parker come, could you see if he can?” he handed me a invite,
“Sure Tony, I will.” He smiled,
“Thanks.” He ran off towards Corbin and Piper who was standing outside of Corbin’s car. He handed them an invite too, then Corbin sees me, I hurried into my car but it took Corbin a second to get to my car window,
“Nora we have to talk.” I looked up at him,
“Ok are you ready to tell me everything?” he lowered his head, “Then sorry Corbin, I gotta get home.” I went to turn the key,
“Nora, I still love you, nothing will change that, but it hurts to see you with someone else.” I looked up at him again,
“Oh and being with Piper is easy for me, I am sorry, if you want me to let you go, then guess what, I am letting you go, now MOVE!” I threw the car in reverse and Corbin hurried and moved out of my way, I drove out of the parking lot pissed, who does he think he is, Mr. High and Mighty, telling me he don’t like me with anyone, he can go screw himself.
I pulled into the drive way and I noticed someone on my porch, I looked and it was Matt, I was shocked. I parked my car and walked up on the front porch,
“Matt, what are you doing at my house?” He stepped towards me; I was taking back by his sheer size,
“I came to warn you, Parker is going to try to get in your pants, Nora, he told the guys at football practice that he is going to get in your pants and they are betting on it.” He went to walk off the stairs,
“Why are you telling me this?” I asked really confused,
“Because I like you, I know that I don’t run with the greatest guys but I’m not like them, I thought you should know what's going on, and if that bet doesn’t stand up, he bet that he will be in your pants before graduation.” My mouth fell open, “I guess that is what happens when you’re the prettiest girl in school.” He left the porch, I watched him disappear around the corner.
OH I was pissed now, but I was going to give Parker the benefit of the doubt, I walked inside, grandma had her old record player playing some old 40s music I could hear her singing to them, I peeked into the kitchen and she was making a cake. Grandma never makes cake unless it’s someone birthday. I went to the calendar to see today’s date, Grandpa’s birthday was wrote in the square; I panicked and ran back out to my car and to the store.
I was looking at baseball caps when I heard someone say my name it was Carter,
“Hey Carter, still grounded?” I asked him, he was pushing a dust broom,
“Yeah, how did the dance go?” I gave him a don’t look-look,
“Oh really that good huh?” we laughed,
“Is all the hats they got?” I held up a one that had the Lakers on it,
“Yeah, that’s it, why who you buying it for?” he asked, pretending to work,
“My grandpa’s birthday is today?” He nodded his head, “Carter can I ask you something, you still play football right?” he shook his head,
“Yeah why?” I took a deep breath and he acted as if he knew what I was going to ask,
“Does Parker have bets going on if he can get in my pants?” I asked him, waiting for him to tell me no, but then he sighed
“Well… yeah, he told everyone that you would be a great lay, I got mad and so did Matt, we left the field, the coach wasn’t too pleased but, the way he talked was gross, I mean, I think your hot in all but he was talking about you in a deep perverted way.” He raised an eyebrow,
“Oh really now.” I balled my hands up into fists at my side, “well looks like me and Mr. Raptner are going to have alittle talk this Friday at Tony’s.” I grabbed a baseball hat and headed to the checkout.
I walked into the house, grandma heard me that time,
“Nora, dear, come here.” I walked into the kitchen where the cake was already done, “Today is your Grandfather’s birthday, I am throwing him a little party, your Uncle Roger and his family will be here shortly, could you help me make some finger food?” I sat down my present for grandpa and helped grandma make some deviled eggs and a few other things, I knew my mom’s teaching me how to cook would pay off.
Uncle Roger Came in with my Aunt Lynn along with James, Nikki and Kyle. They looked at me. My Uncle Roger was the first one to pick on me like always,
“Nora bora, what's up missy?” he teased, rubbing my head,
“Uncle Roger stop!” He laughed. My Uncle Roger was grayer than I remembered him and skinner, but he still had the beer belly,
“Hey mom, dad here yet?” He reached in and grabbed a chip, my grandma took the back of the wooden spoon in her hand and smacked his knuckles,
“Oww, Ma.” He said rubbing the back of his hand,
“Keep your mitts out of there Roger Alan.” He and my Aunt Lynn went into the living room; we were now waiting for my grandpa to get there.
I went upstairs to wrap my present, Nikki and Kyle were in there with me, Kyle felt weird to be in my room, and then Kyle asked
“Has Corbin talked to you yet?” I shrugged my shoulders.
“Sorta, just that he still loves me, but he is so secretive its annoys me, I know he has the right to keep things to himself, but this is tearing us apart, he has Piper and I am still single.” They both looked at me,
“What about Parker?” Nikki asked. I looked at them both,
“OH no, me and him aren't a couple and after what I found out from Matt and Carter, he will never get the chance.” They both looked at me,
“Tell us? We don’t go to that school.” Nikki was on the edge of the bed,
“Well according to Matt and Carter, Parker has a bet that between Friday and graduation he is going to get in my pants, I’m pissed because I’m saving myself for Cor…” I stopped myself; they both looked at each other and laughed, “You didn’t hear that.” Nikki smiled,
“Oh yes we did, does Corbin know?” she asked, I shook my head,
“No, I mean he wont even talk to me that much unless he is telling me he loves me still and confusing the crap out of me, Look guys, I am ready to let him go, if that is what he wants but he has to tell me.” They both looked at me, then I heard my Aunt Lynn yell that my grandpa was here; we ran down the stairs and waited for him to come in. He walked in,
“SURPRISE!!!!” We all yelled, he jumped and laughed,
“OH MY GOD guys!! Never scare an old man like that!!” we all hugged him. We started the party.
Grandpa like the presents and he wore mine, Uncle Roger loved my food I made, “Who made these puffs?” Grandma pointed at me, “Wow your mom must have taught you?” I shook my head yes, “Wow, these are great.” I laughed.
After everyone left I helped gran
dma clean up, grandpa came in,
“Nora honey, could you please start working for me next week, I have a big order coming in and I’m short handed?” I looked at him,
“Sure Grandpa, after school I will be there?” he hugged me
“I knew I could count on you.” He headed upstairs. I looked at my grandma she looked tired,
“Grandma go to bed and I will clean up for you.” She looked at me,
“Thanks Nora dear I am really tired.” She headed upstairs. There I was up all by myself cleaning up birthday cake and party leftover, well the stuff my Uncle and Kyle didn’t devour .
I finished cleaning up headed up stairs to do homework lucky I didn’t have much.
Friday came without me blowing up at Parker, I acted normal, but he did act alittle touchy feely.
“Parker, how about I meet you at Tony’s I have to do a few things before going?” he smiled
“Sure, I will meet you there sexy.” He kissed my cheek. Corbin was staring but when I looked at him he winked at me, Yep Nikki told him my slip up Tuesday. Great, now he knows I’m saving myself for him.
School was out, I was walking towards my car when I seen Corbin smiling big at me for the first time in along time I seen him happy, then I thought, I bet he gave into Piper, my heart sank, I could wait for him but he couldn’t wait for me, he must of noticed my mood change because he was no longer smiling he was looking confused.
I pulled out of the parking lot and headed to the house, I sudden felt disgusted with myself, I don’t know why, but it was like I was dirty, why would he give into Piper, of course he is a man but he promised me.
I parked the car in front of the house and headed inside, the front door was locked, strange, I fumbled with my keys to unlock it and walked in,
“Grandma, Grandpa!” I yelled but no answer, I went to the fridge to get a soda and there was a not,
Nora,
Gone shopping, grandma is with me she had a doctors appointment today we will be back by 5 if you go anywhere leave a note, ok, Love ya,

I shrugged and headed, upstairs to get changed into something besides jeans, so I decided to wear a pair of Capri’s and a nice cammy, something different. I was checking myself out in the mirror when the phone rang. I ran to the hall phone,
“Hello?” I answered
“Nora honey.” It was my mom; I almost dropped the phone,
“Mom? Is that you?” I said frantically,
“Yes, I don’t have much time, I wanted to check on you, and your father doesn’t know I am calling, I miss you so much.” The connection sucked,
“Miss you too mom I wish you were here.” I said almost started crying,
“I… do… t… we… h.ve a b…ad .. co…” the phone went dead,
“Mom! MOM!” the line went dead, crap, I started to cry, and I missed her more now then ever. I went back into my bedroom and cleaned off the eyeliner that was running down my cheek. I gave myself a look over and decided to run to the party I had to meet Parker in ten minutes anyways.
I pulled up in front Tony’s huge house, the music was loud and people were standing outside talking, I parked and walked towards the house. Pauline and Phil who were outside talking on the porch steps greeted me.
I walked in, there was Carter and some girl I didn’t know dancing, there was Piper, and Corbin on the dance floor too and to his left was Tony and Jane. Everyone greeted me,
“Hey Nora!” Wow I didn’t know I was that popular, I kind of smiled and went to find a seat to wait for Parker, I didn’t have to wait long before he came walking in.
“Nora! Hey I made it.” I wasn’t happy to see him, but I kind of had a feeling someone was telling lies on Parker because he seemed so sweet.
We got some sodas and sat back and watched some people trying to dance to the Chicken Dance Song, we were laughing so hard. Then the music started to get to me.
“Is the music getting to you?” I shook my head, “ I can tell it’s too loud for you, do you want to go outside?” He asked, I said yeah, and we went outside next thing I knew we were walking to the baseball park across from Tony’s.
We walked into the dugouts, I sat down on the bench relaxing, and Parker sat next to me. I took a deep breath and prepared myself to ask him about what Matt and Carter told me, “Parker, why did you bet everyone you would get in my pants today?” He looked at me shocked,
“Ummm…” that surprised him, yeah I thought,
“Why Parker, you know I am not like that.” I was mad he smiled,
“Come on baby, now you know the truth I don’t have to pretend to be nice anymore, and you can just give into me and give me your hot body.” He went for me, pinning me down on the bench, I screamed,
“Get off me you pig.” I screamed he didn’t listen, and he ripped off my shirt, exposing my bra then he punched me in the face, my eyes went blurry, “STOP PARKER!!” I begged,
“OH come on baby this don’t have to be rough, you can just give in.” I squirmed to get away, he ripped my shirt all the way off and punched me again, I felt the stinging in my lip and then my lip began to swell and burn I could feel blood run down my chin. I rose up my knee and shoved it in his groin, as he was groaning in agony I ran to Tony’s, my lip was bleeding and so was my nose. I could feel my eye swelling.
I ran inside, covering my bra as soon as Corbin saw me he ran towards me, took his jacket off and covered me.
“What happened?” Corbin asked,
“Get me out of here please.” He wrapped his arms around me, we sat down he was checking me out,
“You ok?” he asked, I was hysterical I looked at him,
“He..tried..to…rape…me.” As I was saying it I started crying, Corbin wrapped his arms around me just being in his arms I felt so safe and it’s like I belonged to him and the sound of his heartbeat was calming me down.
“It’s ok; I won’t let anyone hurt you again.” He looked at me in the eyes,
“How are you going to stop anyone from hurting me when you’re the one hurting me the most?” He looked at me,
“Nora, I know, but it doesn’t change the fact that I love you more than anything, I want to be with you but I am scared.” I looked at him,
“Tell me, please, please Corbin tell me.” He helped me up and we got to the car, he drove me home.
I walked into the house with Corbin’s help, my grandpa was still up, he seen me,
“What the hell happened?” He looked at Corbin,
“Her date attacked her, he tried to rape her.” Grandpa looked at me,
“Did he rape you?” I shook my head,
“No, I got away, Corbin brought me home, grandpa it was Parker, the guy that works for Uncle Roger.” He looked at me then at Corbin,
“Corbin can you help her up the stairs?” He shook his head,
“Yes sir, come on Nora.” He grabbed my arm gently and helped me up the stairs into my room, I almost fell, and Corbin picked me up in his arms and carried me to my room.
“Will you be ok?” he was worried,
“Corbin, did Nikki and Kyle tell you what I told them Tuesday?” He looked at me and smiled. He laid me on my bed.
“Yeah, and I am so happy you said that, you are going to my last and my only love Nora, get some sleep, I will be back tomorrow to check on you.” He kissed my forehead and left. I heard the front door shut. I got up and walked into the bathroom, I wanted to see what I looked like.
I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, my eye was bruised and my lip was swollen, I looked horrible.
I changed and crawled in bed, I just lay there. Around 1am, I heard my door open and shut. It was my grandpa checking on me. He called the police and Parker was expelled from school for the rest of the year, his dad hated the idea but it was his own fault, I heard grandpa talking to some people downstairs. Corbin seemed like he wanted to tell me something but what? I laid in bed thinking and in pain. My lip throbbed and my eye stung.
