  EPILOGUE

Old Kate is in the shop at the moment, trying on that dress with the pretty little roses. She'll buy it and, tomorrow, she'll catch a flight back to Heathrow. Unfortunately, she'll never have a chance to wear her pretty little roses because, after all the other passengers have disembarked, the cabin crew are going to find her still in her seat: a contented smile on her face and a photo of Denise clutched in her still-warm hand.

Poor Denise, she's going to have to return from Paris to make the funeral arrangements for Richard and to try to explain how she comes to have twenty-nine million pounds in her bank account. And she never will discover that she was related to Kate Qualtrough or Sandy Ferris.

Oh, okay, don't worry; I won't leave you in suspense. She'll get the cash bit all sorted out. Sean will get his business back and Pete and Denise will be richer to the tune of about — well a lot of money anyway. And there was Ian thinking that a sudden influx of cash would upset the equilibrium.

Of course, what none of them will ever be able to puzzle out is how the money came to land in Denise's bank. Their research will show them that the cash was transferred to the Independent Banking Corporation in Grand Cayman but, since Aunt Kate is going to be in no position to tell them anything, no-one will ever know how it came to be transferred back again. Life's a bitch, isn't it.

But what of Sandy and Nick Ferris? What's their future, stranded on Grand Cayman with little more than pocket money between them? I wouldn't like to spoil the secret because remember, these are two professional survivors and they are bound to get involved in something else somewhere else.   ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Sincere thanks to my old buddy Oliver Nottley, for helping shape the skeleton, then mercilessly applying the scalpel. He spent many, many hours helping me, but we got a body out if it in the end. It was Oliver's enthusiasm that convinced me to keep writing, otherwise the rest of my books would never have seen the light of day.

It's not every day that your boss becomes your friend. I count myself a lucky man.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Graham Hamer was born a few years before Queen Elizabeth came to the British throne (the second Queen Elizabeth, that is). One event was televised, one wasn't. His own event happened somewhere between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales on a funny little island where the cats have no tails and the occasional witch still gets rolled down a steep hill in a spiked barrel. He left The Isle of Man to get a life. He got one. He went back to his island. You'll find him there now if you know where to look.

Accountant, pig-herder (briefly), businessman, business analyst, web site builder – hell, writing's more fun.
