by Irish Winters

Victoria stood there in the dark, alone, her arms crossed over her magnificent chest, but her chin down, her hair hiding her face. “Yeah, fine. No worries,” she replied without looking up, her voice unusually tight. “Tell your brothers ‘hi’ for me. Later, Pagan.”

“Will do.” And that was that.

Pagan shut the door behind him. He had a flight to catch. Like the way it ended or not, this mission was over. He was on his way home to Montana—until his wide shoulders turned all by themselves. Until his palm rotated Mills’ POS doorknob like it had a mind of its own. Until he found himself facing the door he’d just closed instead of the fast getaway he’d planned.

“Oh, hell,” he cursed. “What’s one beer?”

  About the Author

Irish Winters is a best-selling author who, when she isn’t writing, dabbles in poetry, grandchildren, and rarely (as in extremely rarely) the kitchen. More prone to be outdoors than in, she grew up the quintessential tomboy on a dairy farm in rural Wisconsin, spent her teenage years in the Pacific Northwest, but calls the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah, home. For now.

She believes in making every day count for something, and follows the wise admonition of her mother to, “Look out the window and see something!”
