“I love you, Benjamin Chapel, and just in case you need a reminder, you have made every dream come true. I will forever be honored to call you my husband and love you always until the end of time.”
Although the words we just exchanged were not our official vows, they meant so much to us. The church was silent as our family and friends watched our intimate moment up at the altar. The officiant cleared his throat, but again, we ignored him until we heard the sweetest voice call out to us.
“Uncle Ben, are you going to kiss Aunt Hallie? She looks like a fairy princess.”
The church was no longer silent as everyone applauded and cheered us on. We both turned and smiled at her. She was beaming as the tiara that adorned the top of her head sparkled all around us.
“I love you, Hallie,” said Ben, as he placed his hands on my face, drawing me closer just like Prince Charming kissed Cinderella on their wedding day, only their story was a fairytale found in books. Our story was very real, and we were writing our own happy ending. When we parted, he whispered, “Let’s get married, because I plan on kissing my wife for the rest of my life.”
And as it goes, Ben and I were pronounced husband and wife after the exchange of rings and the wedding vows we planned on saying to each other. He took my hand in his and walked us down the rose-covered aisle with the cheers and applause following us.
I looked over at Ben, who was wearing the brightest and truest smile I have ever seen. My Ben.
From the very first moment we met, Ben has never shied away from declaring his love for me. Not a day has gone by that he hasn’t made me feel loved and cherished, and I have a feeling it’s not going to change any time soon.
