Ayesha held the gun out, her little body quivering from inside the hiding space. “Hey, baby, you’re alright.” He kicked the gun away from Rico’s body as he took the two steps to Ayesha. Squatting down to her level, he held his hand out. “C’mere, love, give me the gun.” He held his hand out. She placed the weapon in his palm. He turned the safety on, placing the gun on the floor away from them. Once he had that out of the way, he held his hands out. “C’mere,” he said again.

She launched herself out of the tight space with a cry, her sob breaking his heart.

“I was so scared. I sh…shot him. Oh my god. I killed him.” She buried her face against his chest.

King palmed the back of her head and stood up, taking her with him, his other arm going around her waist. “We need the cleaners in here.” He looked over his shoulder as he barked the order. “Keys, wipe this shit. It didn’t happen.”

He walked with her into the bathroom, bloody footprints be dammed. He needed to get her warmed up, and they needed to talk. Her shivers were freaking him out. Fuck, she was in shock. “Duke, call Doc.” His voice was too loud, and he knew it, so he took a deep breath.

Duke knocked on the open door, careful not to look inside. “Yo, King, Keys done did.”

King lifted his chin in acknowledgement, kicking his boots off. He looked at what she had on, figuring he could replace it if he ruined them as he jerked them off ripping seams in the process, followed by his outside the shower. “Ayesha, look at me, baby.” He stood her beside the huge glass enclosure, his arms still holding her.

Shakes and shivers assailed her. He lifted her into his arms, taking them both inside, shutting the door while the water rained down on them. She gasped, blinked up at him as if seeing for the first time. “Oh god, Tiana.” She reached for the door.

“You protected her. You did good,” he praised her. Tomorrow, maybe the next he’d blister her ass. Right now, he’d take care of her. Get her straight.

She sagged against him. “I’m probably going to go to…to jail.”

King grabbed her hair. God he loved her fucking hair. “Baby, there’s nothing to go to jail for.”

She opened her mouth to say something, closing it when he placed a finger over it. “Rico and those men won’t be missed, and if they are, they’ll assume they ran into trouble with some business associates. Nobody but you, me, Duke, and Keys know what happened in that kitchen. There ain’t a one of us who blame you or wouldn’t have taken that shot. In all honesty, we can’t say who killed who. I fired off several rounds and so did Duke.” He wasn’t going to tell her how they were going to get rid of them. The less she knew the better.

“You scared at least ten years off my life tonight,” King said, pulling her in against his body.

She wrapped her arms around him, her little body fitting him like she was made for him. “I suppose you’re thinking of spanking me.”

Oh, he barely contained his chuckle. “Little Dove, I’m not thinking anything.”

Her tense shoulders relaxed until he let his hands trail down her back. “I already know exactly what your punishment is going to be.”

When she opened her mouth, King tugged her head backward and covered her lips with his, silencing her with his. Fuck, he was sure she was going to be the cause of his first grey hair instead of his brother.

  Chapter Twenty

Ayesha winced as she sat on King’s lap. He raised a brow. “Something wrong, love?”

He called her many things, but hearing him call her ‘Love’, was both startling and new. Oh, she saw the way he looked at her, the way he held her, and touched her. All those things felt deeper than liking, but he hadn’t come out and professed his undying love, nor had she. One day they both would feel more comfortable saying it out loud. Until then, she’d take what he gave, those little bits of himself that he only shared with her, and she’d give him her everything—She could do no less.

She lifted her drink up, taking a healthy sip. She wasn’t going to admit to him she liked the reminder of his punishment. Oh, he’d been more than a little upset once the bodies had been cleared. Her sister was brought up and pizza had been made. How they were all starving, she had no clue, but they’d all demanded food. So they’d gone to the clubhouse as the sun was peeking over the horizon and made pizza. A bond was forged between them while the new day began.

Curly had come over and asked if Tiana could babysit their son. She’d asked if Ayesha needed to talk. Never had she thought to make friends who truly cared about her like the women she’d met in the last month. When she’d hugged Curly, she knew the woman was someone she could count on.

“Deep thoughts?” Mack asked, sitting down across from them.

Ayesha picked up her beer. “I’d like to make a toast.” She looked around the long table where she’d first seen King holding court. He’d looked so big and imposing, threatening two prospects. Now, here she sat on his thigh, her ass red with his handprints on each cheek, a butt plug shoved up her ass, surrounded by men and women who were family by choice, yet they’d lay their lives down for one another. “I wanted to give a toast to the best family a person could ask for. You might be a mix of crazy, but you’re my crazy.” She clanked her bottle with Mack, who had a grin from ear-to-ear.

“My mama always said not to feed the crazy, but I decided I liked crazy and fed it as often as I could. That’s why you see me in the kitchen more often than not,” Mack said.

Duke finished his beer and leaned over to kiss Ayesha’s cheek. “Glad you decided not to stab him in his sleep. I’m out.”

  “Where you going?” King asked.

  “Places,” Duke answered.

The name of one of the strip clubs they owned was called Places. Ionically named that, because the old timers didn’t want to lie to their ole ladies when they asked where they were going. They’d say Places, and it would settle them, they said. Little did they know Places was a strip club.

“I’m worried about him,” Ayesha murmured in King’s ear.

King turned his head, capturing her lips. “He’s a big boy.”

Read on for a look at Duke’s and Cosmo’s Stories.

They too will run parallel or maybe come out together “wink”.

  Royally Treasured

Duke stood up from the table, shaking his head at Cosmo. “I’m out man. You sticking around?”

Cosmo looked toward the stage eyeing the newest dancer who walked on. “Oh, fresh blood. I might stay to see what she can do.”

His friend liked the exotic ladies, and the tiny woman who just took to the stage ticked all Cosmo’s boxes. Long black hair, if it was really hers, and she looked to be of mixed heritage with some Asian in her. Yeah, Cosmo would definitely be hard for her.

“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” He gave the waitress picking up their drinks a twenty. He’d seen the little bastards at the table next to them leave without tipping. Little pricks.

“I get off at two,” she said, her smile was perfect. Her tits big and she was exactly the opposite of what he was looking for. Oh, he liked his women to have a great rack and good smile, but…the one he wanted wasn’t her. She’d be more apt to kick him in the balls than tell him what time she got off.

He looked toward the DJ booth, expecting to see the female who had him twisted in knots. He’d kept from coming into the club for days. Tonight he’d given in, and he’d done amazing at not looking toward her corner. Now, he was getting ready to quit the place, giving himself the one glimpse he was allowed, and she wasn’t there. Fucking bullshit.

“Sorry, I got an early start tomorrow. Take care of yourself.” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her forward, kissing her forehead.

Her sigh was filled with regret, but his dick said nope, not her. The fucker.

“See you later, Cosmo.” He bumped knuckles with his best friend, heading out the door.

Out on the street, he took a deep breath, filling his lungs with night air not filled with the scent of sex and alcohol. His boots crunched across the gravel as he turned away from the alley to make his way to the parking lot. A sound, almost like a whimper made him turn toward the alley to the side. Two figures appeared to be pulling something that didn’t look like garbage. Duke moved forward, figuring he’d get a closer look. If nothing else, he could claim owners’ rights.

The light from above highlighted what they were dragging, sending adrenaline through his veins. Lennox, the little DJ he’d been fantasizing about for weeks was struggling against the hold the two guys had on her, but they had her mouth covered, and her arms restrained. What the fuck? Her long hair she kept in a bun on top her head with chopsticks was half undone, hiding her expression, but Duke would bet his left nut she was glaring daggers at the shitheads.

“I told you, she’s not the right one. She’s not even Asian, you idiot.”

“Well kill her and be done with it.” One of the men said, letting Lennox go so she fell to the ground.

“Hey, buddy, what’s going on?” Duke asked, interrupting their conversation.

The door to the back of the club slammed open, a cursing Cosmo fell out backward followed by a huge man who looked like he’d fit right in a sumo suit. Cosmo rolled to his feet, his hands moving quickly. Duke knew Cosmo would have either knives or guns in both hands within seconds. He jumped up, taking the guy in front of him by surprise as he swiped his leg out from under him, punching him in the throat next. Little Lennox rolled away, trying to avoid the other guy who had agreed she was expendable and his gun. Duke fired off a shot before he could. “What kind of trouble you in?” he asked Lennox.

Cosmo took out the big fucker, stood up with a snarl, staring at Duke. “Fuck me runnin. What the hell just happened here?”

Duke picked Lennox up, checking her over for injuries. “How many were with those two?” he asked her. When she didn’t answer right away he shook her.

“Four total I think. One went to get the car.”

“Shit,” he and Cosmo both said at the same time.

He pulled her against the building, tugging her with him as he made his way to Cosmo, who was leaning over the woman from the stage.

“What happened to her?” Lennox asked.

Cosmo lifted her into his arms. “I saw him waiting backstage for her and knew he wasn’t supposed to be there. I tried to reach her before she got to where I saw he was, but I saw her stumble and fall. When I made it around the corner, I saw him stand up with a syringe. If you say anything stupid, remember I know how to kill a man ten different ways and hide the body.”

“Did they inject you, too?” Duke asked Lennox.

She tried to stand but couldn’t. “I don’t know what they did.” Her words were slurred.

“Fuck. I’ve got my bike.” He looked at Cosmo, hoping he drove one of his vehicles other than his bike.

  Cosmo shook his head.

  Lennox whimpered. “Car,” she whispered.

Her purse lay on the ground near her. He grabbed it, fishing out a set of keys. Pushing the fob, he heard the honk a car makes when the locking system was engaged. “We got wheels. Grab your girl. I got mine.”

His girl was shooting glares at him, but he’d worry about that later. For now, they had three bodies in the alley and another coming back with a car.
