The HUSH Series: (HUSH, HUSHED and JANE.) Page 58

by Sandra Raine

As for me, I decided to spend the rest of my life with Viktor and Sissy in New Orleans or wherever they decided to move. Anna returned back to L.A. but it was only for a short while when she realized she couldn't be away from me and from Bree. So when she moved to New Orleans so she could be close to us, I accidentally took the liberty of introducing her to Jonah and the two started dating immediately. Eventually she ended up moving in to the Kasa Manor, and into Jonah's bedroom.

As far as Bree was concerned, and she was a concern: I had to break it to her that she wasn't my blood sister, that she was kidnapped when she was just a baby, and then sold to who she thought were our parents. Bree was somewhat heartbroken over the news but she said she didn't care, and her only concern was to stay with me and live with Viktor and Sissy. It took awhile for me to convince my father to have documents of Bree's existence falsified. In the end, I succeeded only and under the condition that I would be the one to continue raising her as if she was my daughter. Something I knew I could do and quite well.

"The wedding is about to start, Jane," Dominic said kissing me on the cheek, at the same time, pulling me from my thoughts. "Do you know where the Father is?" he then asked leaving me to shrug my shoulders 'cause I honestly did not know.

"He's swigging it in the kitchen," Josh said trying to chug down a beer before the wedding commenced.

"Great," I groaned. It was going to be a long night by the looks of it.

"Relax, woman," Marx then laughed. "It's just a wedding. Not Sunday mass at church." he then joked as he casually drifted toward Justin and the two began to talk.

"Yeah, relax, sis." Jonah playfully interceded as he, too, kissed me on my cheek before slinking in between Dominic and Josh where the three began to converse while Anna, Tia and Bree huddled in a circle talking about dresses and fashion and whatnot.

As I stood there gazing at the people who unintentionally became a part of my life, I realized how truly blessed I was to have them in my life. And while the women were important icons in my life it became undeniably clear that the men were just as important and shouldn't be discounted from my life despite the horrors they inflicted upon me; infliction to no fault of their own. And with the greatest lengths they recently went through to defend what was left of my honor, my innocence deserved more than just a casual "thank you"; they deserved my forgiveness

As I gazed at each and every one of those men I also couldn't help but to embrace their significance, not only in my life but in this world. These men. . .these beautiful, strong and worthy and valuable men - men I'd easily give up my life for only 'cause they were willing to give up their lives for me - deserved all the beauty and wonders that life still had to offer in spite of the darkness they had once become. And just as much love and admiration that this world had for me, I had just as much love and admiration for them.

And that I was truly grateful for.

Marx glanced my way with a wink and a smile and an expression that read: 'Come join me'. My heart fluttered as I returned Marx's smile.

Yeah. It was going to be a good life.
