Her Greatest Mistake Page 17

by Eve L Mitchell

“Fuck, Jem, that’s good.” His hands slipped into my hair. “I need to fuck you, baby.” He started to move my head at a faster pace. He wasn’t forceful, I knew I could move away if I needed to. I let him control the pace, my hand increasing in speed. “Fuck, I’m going to…”

I felt him release in my mouth, and I swallowed it down, slightly embarrassed at myself for doing so. I had never done that with Tim, I had always spit it out. But with Aiden, I took it all. Hesitantly, I pulled back and reached for my cold coffee. I took a hasty swallow. Aiden’s eyes were closed, but when I turned back, he was watching me.

  “You good?”

  “Yeah.” I nodded.

“Good. Get your ass to the bedroom.”

  “What?”

“Move, Jem, I need in that pussy.” Aiden stood. “I mean, I can fuck you here, but I prefer the bed. More room.” He stood unabashedly naked in my living room. “You want me to start here?” He took a step forward.

I turned with a yelp and ran for the bedroom.

We spent Saturday in bed, and although I had a thousand questions to ask him, I found I didn’t want to ruin the day, and instead we spoke about little. Aiden came out of the bathroom and looked at me in amusement as I lay in the bed where he had left me.

“You hungry?” he asked as he tickled my foot.

“Yes.” I nodded as I rose to a sitting position, pulling my sensitive foot away from him. I needed to change these sheets, I thought, as I saw the rumpled mess we had made. “What will I order?”

“I want to go out to eat. How long will it take you to get ready?” Aiden asked idly as he pulled his T-shirt on.

I looked at myself in the mirror—my hair was a mess. My face was flushed, and I had evidence of Aiden all over me. “An hour?”

“Okay, I’ll go home and change. I’ll be back to pick you up.” He dipped his head and kissed me. The kiss deepened, and I ended up on my back as he bent over me. “Fuck, I need you again,” Aiden mumbled. “You taste so fucking sweet, Jemma.”

“Thank you?” I could feel myself blushing.

Aiden gave a light laugh. “I need to go, or we’re going nowhere.” He straightened as his hand trailed over my body. “An hour.” He turned and left, and I heard the front door closing.

With a stupid smile, I jumped up and showered. My body ached, I realised, and I really needed to sleep. The man wore me out; he was insatiable. After I had showered and blow-dried my hair, I opted to leave it down even as I lamented that it just needed a slight wave to make it prettier, rather than poker straight. I applied a thin layer of eyeliner to make my boring hazel eyes stand out. I stood and looked at the contents of my wardrobe. What the hell was I supposed to wear? I grabbed a simple flute-sleeved floral print dress. It sat just above my knee and was fitted at the waist with a V-neck. The dress was rust in colour with a muted print. The rust colour of the dress brought out the chestnut in my hair. I had thick tights on and soft ankle boots.

I looked good? I tilted my head as I turned in the mirror to inspect myself. I thought about my underwear; I had grabbed my normal go-to underwear. I went over to my dresser and looked at the three sets of “fancy” underwear I owned. A black set, a red set and a nude set. My fingers trailed over the nude set. Quickly without thinking about it, I discarded the dress, tights and my underwear and slipped on the expensive lingerie. Deciding I was all in, I pulled stockings on and attached them to the garter belt. I pulled the dress over my head and assessed myself. Ankle boots were a no. I searched for my barely-there heels and matching clutch.

Okay, now you look ready. I was going to freeze to death with these stockings on, I mused. I dug out a knee length black woollen coat and my gloves and scarf.

My buzzer went, and I raced to the intercom. “Hello?”

“You want me up, or are you ready?” Aiden asked me through the intercom.

“Ready, I’ll be right down.” I hurried back to my bedroom and quickly looked myself over again. I grabbed my lip gloss and shoved it into my purse and a mini hairbrush.

The sidewalk had been cleaned of snow, and my toes gave a prayer of thanks.

Aiden waited by an Uber, and he held the door open for me as I got into the warmth. “You really took an hour.”

“I’m sorry.” I quickly glanced at him as he got in beside me.

“Don’t be, I’m impressed.” His hand slipped my glove off, and then he intertwined our fingers.

“Where are we going?” I asked, hoping I was dressed appropriately.

“Not Table Four Six,” Aiden answered me with amusement. “There’s a bistro I like in downtown, that okay with you?”

“Yes, of course.” I nodded as my insides relaxed. He was wearing dark jeans and black buckled boots. Are they biker boots?

“Probably not fancy enough for our first date, but I like it.” He shrugged as his hand tightened on mine.

  “Date?” My grin was massive.

Aiden leaned over and moved my hair away from my ear. “You think I would fuck you all day and not take you out for dinner afterwards?” His soft whisper in my ear caused the butterflies to flutter.

“I didn’t know you were one for labels,” I replied teasingly.

Aiden sat back and looked at me. “For you…I like labels.” He raised our entwined hands and kissed the back of my hand. “You’re mine, I told you that.”

It was so very caveman-like. I wasn’t anyone’s really except my own, but when Aiden looked at me with hooded eyes and told me I was his, well, I wasn’t as averse to it as I should have been.

Aiden was focused on my sheer stockings, and he looked at me curiously. He untangled our fingers, and his hand slipped into the bottom opening of my coat. Deftly and inconspicuously, he inched the hem of my dress up. His hand paused mid-thigh, and he looked at me expectantly.

He was asking for permission? Biting my lip and with a hasty look at the driver, I nodded. His fingers trailed higher and stopped on the fasteners, his fingers biting into my thigh as he closed his eyes.

“Tell me you aren’t,” he whispered huskily.

  I smiled shyly. “I’m not.”

“Liar,” he breathed softly. “Fuck, Jem.” Shaking his head, he withdrew his hand as slowly as it had slid up my thigh. “I’m fucking hard.”

“Oops.” Hiding my smile, I looked out the window as we drove downtown. I heard him laugh softly as he reached for my hand again.

“I’ve created a monster.” Aiden kissed the side of my head, and I smiled happily.

We got to the bistro, and he told me to stay in the car as he came around and opened the door for me. Inside was toasty and warm, and I handed my coat and scarf over to the coat check. Aiden kept his black leather jacket on until we were seated in a cosy booth beside each other. When we were seated, I realised to look at Aiden, I needed to turn away from the rest of the restaurant—which I didn’t mind, he was more aesthetically pleasing. You’re such a lost cause.

“You look nice,” he told me as he placed his jacket on the seat. His dark grey long-sleeved Henley hugged his shoulders and biceps, and I licked my lips as I appreciated his physique.

“Thank you.” I smiled at him over my menu. “You look good too.” We were silent for a few minutes as I looked around, and then deciding I was right the first time that Aiden was better to look at, I studied the menu. I wanted the French onion soup to start with.

“You want me to order for you?”

My eyes flashed to his and saw him try to hide a grin. “You heard Calvin at the restaurant?”

“I heard mostly everything.” He grinned. “That guy was a prick.”

I frowned. “He texted me after he came to the apartment.” I was just realising I hadn’t answered him.

“I bet he did. Tell me you didn’t reply?” Aiden’s look was sharp.

“No.” I frowned. “That was rude of me.”

“Fuck him.” Aiden was uninterested as he looked at his menu once more.

  “I wasn’t nice to him
,” I protested. “I should have replied.”

Aiden tossed his menu down on the table. “No, you shouldn’t have. He ordered your food for you. He spoke to you like you were less than him. He wasn’t right for you.”

“And you are?” The words were out before I could stop them.

“No, not even close.” Aiden winked at me, and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “What do you want to eat?”

I told him, and he nodded. “Good choices. The soup’s good, and the pot roast is delicious.” He looked at me, and he smirked. “Heavy food though, you sure you want that?”

“What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.

“Well, when you’re on my dick later, I don’t want you to be uncomfortable because you ate too much heavy food.”

My jaw dropped open, and I turned around in surprise at the clearing of a throat. “You ready to order?” The waiter was looking everywhere but at us. I glared at Aiden, who looked relaxed.

“I am.” I tried for a smile, but I knew I failed. Defiantly, I looked at Aiden as I ordered my French onion soup and beef pot roast.

“I’ll have the same.” Aiden handed his menu over to the waiter. “And a beer, Jem?”

“Dry white wine, please.” The waiter almost ran from our table. “You knew he was there when you said it?” I accused.

Aiden shrugged. “He’s heard worse, I’m sure.” His fingers tapped on the table impatiently.

  “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, place is busier than I thought.”

I scoffed as I looked around. “It’s Valentine’s weekend, of course it is.” The waiter returned with our drinks.

Aiden snorted and took a drink of his beer. “Complete marketing ploy,” he said dismissively.

“Thank you! That’s what I say too.” I took a drink as I smiled at him in satisfaction.

“So I don’t need to worry about buying you candy and flowers?” Aiden teased me.

“Well, you can, but I don’t expect them on Valentine’s.”

Aiden smiled at me before he took another drink of beer. “You’re so refreshing.”

“Why?” I laughed lightly. “Because I don’t assume someone is going to pay for overpriced chocolate?”

“Yeah.” Aiden pulled me closer. “And you fuck like a machine,” he whispered in my ear as he nipped my earlobe.

“Aiden!” I shoved him gently. “You can’t say things like that!”

“Why?” He was laughing as he took another drink. “Don’t be shy on me now.”

I shook my head as I looked away from him. “It’s embarrassing.”

“Why?” he asked again. He turned my head to look at him. “Why are you embarrassed?” he asked as he held my chin. “I’ve said worse to you as I’ve fucked you. Fuck, Jem, you’ve said worse.”

“That’s in the bedroom,” I told him as my face heated. “That’s different.”

“Bullshit.” He released my face. “Don’t be a hypocrite, it doesn’t suit you.” His tone was harsh, and I didn’t like it.

“I’m not.” My voice was strained. “But I have manners, and some things should be kept private.”

  “So you’re saying you’re a prude?”

“No.” I sighed heavily. “Just forget it.”

“But I want to talk about this.”

“No, you don’t.” I glared at him. “You enjoy watching me squirm.”

“I can make you squirm.” He leaned over, and his hand slipped up my thigh under the table. “I can make you scream too.” His hand traced over my panties. There was no way anyone looking wouldn’t know what he was doing.

“Don’t.” I pushed at his hand.

His mocking laughter made me tense, but I was so grateful for the fact his hand moved down my leg again, so I said nothing.

“Your soup.” The waiter was back.

I went to move away from Aiden, and his hand tightened on my leg. He shook his head as he picked up his spoon. “Stay.”

  “I’m not a dog,” I snapped.

“You’re such a turn-on when you’re feisty.” Aiden watched me with amusement.

“I’m beginning to think everything turns you on,” I grumbled.

“Only you, Jem.” Aiden ate his soup completely ignorant of the fact he had just said something so special.

“You’re insufferable,” I muttered as I dipped my spoon into the cheesy topping of my soup and started to eat. “Oh, this is so good.” Aiden murmured in agreement.

We ate the soup in silence as I tried to ignore his hand placed firmly on my thigh. I debated about whether he was keeping me beside him because he was purely possessive or he simply took comfort from touching me. For my own sanity, I decided that it was the latter.

“That was nice,” I said as I finished my soup. The bistro was busier. “How did you get a table on such short notice?” I asked him.

“I didn’t. I have a table booked every Saturday.” He drank his beer. “I like it here.”

  “You eat here every Saturday?”

“No, I let them know if I’m coming or not.” He shrugged casually. “I was late calling them today.”

I stared at him incredulously. “You have a reservation, every Saturday, here? Just in case you want to come here?”

“Yeah, owner’s a friend of mine.”

  “That’s…” I didn’t know what to say. “That’s some Christian Grey-esque behaviour.”

  “Who?”

“The main character in the Fifty Shades of Grey books.”

“The bondage guy with the whips?” Aiden asked me with a grin.

“Well, I was focusing on his billionaire status when I referenced him just now,” I mumbled.

“You read kinky books, Jem? That why you’re so adventurous between the sheets?”

“I read contemporary romance, yes,” I explained. “This doesn’t mean they’re kinky or smutty books.”

“Huh.” His eyes were twinkling with amusement as he watched me. “Any particular sex scenes you want to recreate?”

I couldn’t swallow my wine because once again the waiter was there. My throat closed as the waiter looked at me in surprise and then my soup plate. After he collected the soup bowls, he didn’t even disguise the fact he was running away from us this time.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” I hissed as I finally forced the wine down.

“You’re so easy to rile up.” Aiden was laughing at my expense.

  “You’re a dick,” I growled at him.

Aiden wiped his eyes as he laughed at me. “Your face, it’s so funny.” He leaned over and kissed me softly. “Sorry, baby.” I shoved his chest away from me. “And you called me a dick, once again proving it’s all you think about.”

I turned away from him completely before he could see my smile at his behaviour. Aiden was always so serious and reserved, to see him laughing and relaxed was wonderful. It made me happy to realise I had something to do with that.

We were sitting so close together and making nonsensical small talk when the waiter returned with our main courses. I was almost reluctant to move away from Aiden to eat. His hand once again trailed my thigh as I shifted slightly away from him. I love pot roast—my mom’s is the best I have ever tasted—but I had to say, this bistro dish was a close second.

I seriously couldn’t eat another bite. “I’m going to die,” I announced as I put my fork down. I ignored Aiden’s knowing look at my plate. “If you say I told you so, I will hurt you.”

  “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

I snorted as I rested my head against the booth. “Oh goodness, why did I eat so much?”

  “You’re gluttonous?”

My eyes snapped open as I looked at Aiden with disbelief. “I’m what?”

“Gluttonous.” He wiped his mouth with his napkin. “Means greedy.”

  “I know what it means.”

Aiden turned to me swiftly and kissed me soundly. His hand caught my chin, and he kept me there as he devoured my mouth. He pulled
back slightly with a smile. “I’ve been waiting to do that.” He kissed me softly before he pulled back. Who the hell was this man? I sat slightly stunned as his hand travelled higher up my leg. His fingers grazed over the top of my stockings, running under the fasteners.

“I need dessert,” Aiden said softly as he watched me.

“You want to eat here?” I took a sip of my wine.

“Unless you’re suddenly into public sex, I suggest we go back to your apartment.” His nose trailed my jawline. “I want to spend all night inside you.”

“I think I’m too full,” I replied as I rubbed my belly.

“That’s okay, I’ll take it easy on you.”

I huffed out a laugh. “Well, that’ll be a first,” I teased him.

  “You ready to go?”

“Yes.” I leaned over and kissed him softly. “Take me home.”

Aiden’s smile was enough to make my heart flip over itself in its excitement. As he paid and made small talk with one of the staff, I collected my coat. Aiden turned and held my coat as I slipped my arms in.

“Thank you.” I smiled shyly at him.

“They told me you were in tonight.” I turned to the man who had spoken.

“Levi.” Aiden greeted the man with a handshake. He was tall and blond, brilliantly blond. His hair was almost white, pulled back in a short ponytail. He had matching eyebrows and ice blue eyes. He must have been of Scandinavian descent, I realised. He was ridiculously handsome, and I knew I wasn’t alone in appreciating the two of them together. His white chef jacket had a handful of stains, and I took in his broad shoulders. How was this not the celebrity chef on TV rather than the old crusty ones I watched?

“How you doing? That bitch who calls herself your wife was in last night,” Levi told Aiden before he noticed me. “Shit.”
