The Little Shop on Silver Linings Street: An absolutely unforgettable Christmas romance Page 29

by Emma Davies

‘You forgot the bit about not liking frilly stuff except on flowers, and that I’m very tidy and read a lot.’

‘Did I…?’ His lips just grazed hers as he smiled, his eyes dancing. ‘Well, I’m sure there are a million and one things I’ve yet to find out about you, but I’m certain I’m going to love them all.’

‘Are you?’ she asked, her mouth millimetres from his.

‘Oh yes…’ And then he kissed her.

‘The perfect present,’ she whispered as she drew apart for just a second to catch her breath, her fingers reaching down to feel the silver heart that now nestled just above hers. Kit had placed it there last night as the clock had chimed midnight.

‘I wanted to give you something that was truly yours,’ he had said. ‘Something that would always speak of love. So I gave you my words and you took them into your heart to make something so beautiful it could only ever be yours.’

‘That jewellery should speak only words of love,’ she whispered.

Kit ran a finger lightly down the end of her nose. ‘Daisy Buchanan,’ he murmured, leaning in close for another kiss. ‘I rather like the sound of that…’

If you were totally swept away by the romance in Daisy’s story, then you will absolutely adore meeting Maddie in The Little Cottage on the Hill. Buy it now for another unputdownable page-turner to curl up with!

There’s blossom in the trees and daffodils as far as the eye can see. Maddie is looking forward to a fresh start in the countryside, but there’s just one little problem…

Following a scandal at her high-flying PR agency, twenty-six-year-old Maddie flees London to help promote what she thinks is going to be a luxurious holiday retreat in the countryside. Everything is riding on her making a success of this new job…

Yet when she arrives, Maddie is horrified to find a rundown old farm in a terrible state. The brooding and secretive owner, Seth, spent all his money on leasing the land when he fell in love with the beautiful, dishevelled farm cottages and the very romantic story behind them.

When Maddie discovers an old oil painting by the original owner’s wife, she unlocks the secret of the farm’s history and quickly realises she must start getting her hands dirty if this very special place is going to have any chance of survival. As she and Seth begin working together, the stunning view from the top of the hill is not the only thing that’s leaving her breathless…

After weeks of hard work the dream looks like it might become a reality, until a secret from Maddie’s past threatens to snatch it all away again. Can Maddie find a way to save the business and herself? Will she finally find a place to keep her heart within the crumbling walls of the little cottage on the hill?

Perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan, Lucy Diamond and Debbie Johnson who are looking to escape to the countryside and fall in love watching the seasons change.

  A Letter from Emma

Hello, and thank you so much for choosing to read The Little Shop on Silver Linings Street, I do hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it – Christmas books are just so lovely, aren’t they? I really hope you’d like to stay updated on what’s coming next, so please do sign up to my newsletter here and you’ll be the first to know!

It’s been another hugely busy year, with three more titles published, and among all of that, our eldest daughter has moved into her own home, bought a puppy and I’ve been criss-crossing the country looking at universities with our youngest. A household of five, which has already shrunk to four, will be reducing to three come September as our son goes off to university, so there have been lots of changes over the last year. I mention this because coming to the end of a series of books is always a time of reflection for me, much like the passing of a year, and a reminder of the journey I’ve been on – not just in my own reality, but through the worlds I’ve created in the books I write. And it’s always a time of great excitement too, the chance to have a little break, but also to let my imagination have full rein, thinking about ideas for new projects. So I hope you’ll be pleased to learn that my head is already percolating with lots of new stories and, by the time you read this, one of those will already be well underway. So, what will it be…? Well, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait and see; suffice to say that I’m very, very excited for what the next year will hopefully bring!

I hope to see you again very soon and, in the meantime, if you’ve enjoyed your visit to The Little Shop on Silver Linings Street, I would really appreciate a few minutes of your time to leave a review or post on social media. Every single review makes a massive difference and is very much appreciated!

  Until next time,

  Love, Emma x

‘Mum’s in the shed’ is a fairly constant refrain in our house, the shed being where I write, a six-by-eight space at the bottom of the garden. While that may not sound particularly glamorous, it’s really rather lovely, and incredibly toasty in the winter! But of course it’s more than just a space, it’s a place where I go to be elsewhere, to lose myself in my writing, familiar and comfortable and oh, the places we have been together! So I’m particularly grateful to my family for allowing me the privacy of my shed and for not complaining (well, not often anyway) when I’m there! This is particularly important as I’m afraid I’ve got lots more ideas for next year… Sorry guys!

I’d also like to thank my other ‘family’ – Bookouture – who look after me in so many ways and are just a joy to work with, although funnily enough I don’t have to ask them to pick their socks up off the floor! They are focused, driven and committed, everything an author could wish for, but also incredibly human too; supportive, encouraging, kind and there through thick and thin. So, thank you, because I’m afraid I’ve got lots more ideas for next year!

Sometimes you’ve got to run away to find yourself…

Twenty-four-year-old Lucy needs a fresh start. Forever single and frustrated with her studies she gives up everything to run a little library in the leafy village of Tilley Moreton.

As she meets her new members, it’s clear she’s going to have her work cut out for her. Handsome but silent Callum is the biggest puzzle of them all...

But Lucy’s meddling begins to cause more problems than it solves, and no one is more surprised than Lucy when Callum steps in to help. Could there be more to him than people think?

As Callum and Lucy start workin
g together to fix the broken hearts of the library’s most loyal customers, the first sparks of romance begin to fly.

Can they right all the trouble Lucy has created, and might there be a chance for a happy ending of their own?

The view across the valley takes her breath away; everywhere she looks tiny patches of colour – ochre, chestnut, lime and purple. The farmhouse behind her glows pink in the morning sun. It’s like stepping into a postcard, except that this magical place is real. It’s her new home.

With her beloved shop in danger of shutting down, meeting Ned, a gorgeous farmer with an irresistible twinkle in his eye, couldn’t have come at a better moment for free-spirited florist, Flora Dunbar. But no one is more surprised than her when their whirlwind romance leads to the offer of a new life on Ned’s farm.

Arriving at Hope Corner, Flora sets about becoming the perfect farmer’s wife, but her creative, alternative thinking falls flat in a household built on tradition and strict routine. Even Ned is becoming more distant by the day…

Pulling up her signature striped socks and throwing herself into her chores, little by little Flora learns to love the order and patterns of life on the land. But the more she learns about her new home, the more she suspects it’s under threat, and worse, that Ned is hiding a heartbreaking secret from her.

But this time, Flora’s not going to run from her problems. Do Ned and his family trust her enough to let her stay and fight for love and the first house she’s ever truly called home? Does she trust herself?

Beekeeper Grace thought throwing out her cheating husband would be the hardest thing she ever did. But when she opens the door to a property developer one morning, it’s clear that keeping the beautiful home and garden – her only sanctuary throughout her miserable marriage – will be the greatest challenge of all…

Fleeing to her best friend at the flower farm next door, Grace blurts out all her problems, only to be overheard by Amos, a handsome, free-spirited visitor in bright red Doc Martens. Fascinated by Grace and her bees, Amos offers to stay in the village of Hope Corner, to help turn her home into a guest house in return for lessons on beekeeping.

As Grace shows Amos how to nurture a hive and harvest honeycomb without getting stung, he is charming but secretive. He never stays long in the same place after an incident in his past involving a mysterious woman named Maria. But as their eyes lock over a jar of homemade honey, Grace can’t help feeling that she’d really like him to stay…

Determined to dispel her growing suspicion that Amos is running from something serious, Grace goes in search of the truth about Maria. But when she finds it, will she still want Amos to put down roots in Hope Corner, and will they still have a house to return to?
