Captain O’Harris’ good-natured laugh followed her from the room. Clara reached the head of the stairs and had walked two steps down before she allowed herself a smile. A warm buzz of excitement and happiness raced through her. Clara knew a new adventure was beginning for her, and this one did not involve any sort of crime. Now that was very satisfying.
