“Wayne…” Conner eyes filled with wetness.

“Shh…don’t cry.” Wayne lowered himself onto Conner’s body and pulled the blanket over them. Meeting with Conner’s lips, a small whimper escaped the younger man beneath him. Their bodies molded as one and Wayne relished the chocolate flavor of Conner’s amazing mouth. They seemed to kiss for hours and when Wayne raised his head for a breath, Conner was panting. “We should rest.”

Conner nodded and smiled as Wayne rolled off to the side of him. “We are sleeping up here again?”

“We could go downstairs to my bed. I want you in there with me from now on. No more separate rooms.” Wayne gently swept Conner’s cheek with his knuckles. “I want you in every way, Conner.” Wayne closed his eyes, as Conner nestled into him.

“I don’t want to move,” Conner sighed, sated.

  “Goodnight, Conner.” “Night.”

  Chapter Three

Wayne woke again to Conner nestled into him. God he loved waking up like this. Sunday’s morning rays lit up the attic and Wayne pulled Conner even closer. They’d made love last night, and it had been wonderful. In all his years on Earth, he’d never felt anything like it. Conner’s long lashes brushed his skin; they were like fans of gold. Conner was just….well he was an angel. Why had it taken him so long to see what was right in front of him for years? His granddad would have hit him upside the head with a ladle, or something more painful. When he was younger, his father had taken the ladle to his head a few times, maybe that was why he’d been so stupid?

Loud banging on the cabin’s front door had him groaning; he’d wanted to stay in bed with Conner all morning.

“Open up, Wayne!” Jagger shouted. “Aw, shite…” Wayne moved carefully, trying not to wake Conner as he did. He pulled the blanket over Conner’s sleeping form and trudged down the stairs to the front door. Flinging it open, he was met with almost his entire pack, plus the rest of the group.

“What the hell?” Wayne growled. “Where’s Conner?” Riley shoved past Wayne.

“He’s still sleeping, but he won’t be for

long if y’all don’t quit shoutin’!” Wayne caught

the glares from Josh, Mateo and the rest of their

  men. “What?”

“Pull your head out of your ass!” Josh

pushed past Wayne. “What did you tell me about

Mark, huh? Can’t even take your own advice!” “I—” Wayne started.

“No.” Tucker put his hand over Wayne’s

mouth. “Look at what’s happening to you! You

are going to lose Conner because of your stubborn ass!”

“He’s right,” Austin nodded. “Look at

what happened with me and Kurt, but we finally

  came to our senses.”

“I was tr—” Wayne tried again.

“We want to talk to Conner.” Sawyer

stood in front of Wayne. “Don’t stand there and

tell us your cock isn’t interested in him. You

gave yourself away in France, buddy.”

  “If you’d let me tal—”

“No.” Xander crossed his arms. “We are

all here to make sure Conner’s not hurt. He needs

to know we are all here for him.”

“I made him mine!” Wayne shouted.

Wayne’s eyes took in every one of the group and

he smirked. “If you’d let me get a damn word in

edgewise, I could have told you.”

“Well,” Preston said. “That does change

  things.”

“Ya don’t say?” Wayne said wryly.

“Now, if you think I’m cooking for all you assholes, ya got another think coming. Now keep your voices down and go to the kitchen. Tucker,

Wesley and Preston, whip some shit up.” “But—” Wesley started.

“Now.” Wayne raised an eyebrow. “Fine,” Tucker sighed.

Wayne turned to find Riley in his face. “Oh no, what?”

“You really made him yours?” Riley

  wiped at his eyes.

Wayne had to smile; Riley was so sensitive. “Yes, Riley. I made him mine last night.” “I’m so happy for you!” Riley hugged

Wayne tightly. “We were going to make Vince

come, just to knock you around a bit,” Riley

  giggled.

  “Why Vince?” Wayne laughed.

“He’s the only one crazy enough to take

you on,” Mateo said. “Or, we thought he was.”

Mateo motioned over his shoulder. “Meet

  Vince’s son, Nikolai Markov.”

Wayne grinned; the kid was well over six

  feet tall and massive. “Nikolai.”

  “Wayne.” Nikolai raised an eyebrow.

  “So, everything’s cool then?”

Wayne nodded, with a smile. “So, you

were going to take me on?”

“I’d try,” Nikolai smiled broadly. “You’ve got some gold balls kid.” Wayne

put his hand out to the younger man.

“Yeah, well, it’s a family trait.” Nikolai

shook Wayne’s hand. “I’d love to see what I was

  up against.”

“Would you now?” Wayne smiled wide.

  “Human or wolf?”

  “Both,” Nikolai laughed.

  Jagger coughed, interrupting the talk

between the two. “Yes, well, Wayne in wolf form

is almost as tall as you, Nikolai.”

  “Awesome!” Nikolai laughed, clapping

Wayne on the back. “Let’s talk.”

Mateo stood with his jaw hanging open.

“He is just like his father.”

“Yup.” Riley took his husband by the

  hand. “Come on.”

  ~~

Wayne stood at the kitchen table looking over the group of men.

“So you all just felt the need to come out here and what? Force my hand?”

“Well, that and it is the last Sunday of the month as well,” Jagger mentioned. “The rest of the alphas are coming.”

Wayne sat down. “Oh shit, the pack meeting.”

“Yes,” Xander grinned. “Too busy making Conner yours to remember that little tidbit?”

Wayne sighed and covered his face with his hands. “I forgot.”

“Well I didn’t,” Conner said, standing in the kitchen doorway.

“Conner!” Riley ran to him, hugging him fiercely.

“Oh, wow,” Conner grinned, trying to breathe. “Riley, air.”

“Oh! Oops,” Riley laughed, holding Conner by the shoulders. “You look so happy.”

“Yes and well fucked,” Josh grinned.

  “Montgomery!” Wayne’s face heated.

“I’m just sayin’,” Josh shrugged his shoulders.

“Okay,” Jagger looked around. “We have maybe an hour before all the alphas get here. Let’s get some food going, guys.”

As always, Jagger got things in order. Wayne watched his beta as he corralled the packs into working together.

He had to admit, it was awfully sweet the way they all came to Conner’s defense - werewolves and humans alike - but Conner brought out that side of people. He was sweet and kind; you just felt the need to protect him at all costs.

The alphas arrived by noon, settling into the living room. With more and more packs wanting to become part of the Maccon line, Wayne had some serious homework to do. Jackson Murphy and Jonas Brooks were the alphas of the California and Oregon packs. Both strong-minded businessmen, they ran their packs the same way Wayne ran his.

Archer was their oldest alpha and wiser than most. He’d seen it all and knew that to lead successfully you had to be strong but fair. Wayne had gotten lucky finding the alphas he had. All of them were strong in their own way; they were wonderful additions to the pack.

Lunch was served and the men looked over the letters from other packs all wanting to merge. Wayne
had the men go over each and every one of them. The packs of long ago - the ones that fed on humans - were long gone, but it didn’t mean there weren’t still the sort you didn’t want to do business with. So far, Wayne had looked over three more, all on the East coast.

“This one.” Archer pointed to one of the letters. “Locke Renfro, he is a good man.”

Wayne looked over the letter. “I remember this one, how many were in his pack?”

“Two,” Archer said. “They are in Boston.”

“They are getting smaller.” Wayne shook his head sadly.

“We are not extinct, yet,” Archer said. “But the men, even the humans, are having hard times with the surrogates.” Archer looked over at Riley and Mateo. “They have been through much; Riley has been heartbroken with each and every time they have tried.”

Wayne looked over his shoulder at Riley and Mateo. “They still haven’t taken?”

“No, and this last time Mateo said they should take a break. It has been hard on Riley. They’ve gone through two surrogates and each time the embryo has not attached. It is almost the same for the rest of them, except the surrogates’ bodies cannot deal with the lupine fetus and they miscarry,” Archer said.

Wayne sighed. “There has to be a way, it’s been done in the past. I’ll look into the diaries and see what I can find. If it comes down to that, we’ll use the females.”

Archer gasped. “Would they be willing? Are they controlled?”

“Some are,” Wayne nodded. “I might take the trip to Ireland with Conner, stop in on them and see if there are any changes.”

Jackson sat back on the couch and folded his hands. “Kids?” he wrinkled his nose. “I have kids, it’s called my pack,” Jackson laughed.

Jonas chuckled. “Yes, they’re like children.”

“Jacob and Seth will be here within the next few months. They look forward to ridding the park of poachers,” Jackson said.

“I have asked Hayden, Noah and Ross to come as well. They may not be Navy SEALs, but they are all Delta Force and will work side by side,” Jonas said.

“Thank you, this means a lot to me,” Wayne said.

“We can’t have poachers killing wolves, even if they are not our specific kind, they are still our kin,” Archer said.

Alexander looked over the letter from Locke Renfro. “They will be a good addition, they are all firemen.”

Wayne smiled, looking at his alphas. “We still have mateless pack members, what are the odds that one of them will belong to one of ours?”

“I am hoping good odds,” Archer laughed.

Over the course of the day, plans and phone calls were made. Wayne was getting his life back together slowly. After checking out for more than forty years, he was finally coming home. Once the house had cleared, Wayne checked the doors and made sure his radio was on if any of the men needed him. Conner was in the attic as always, nose stuck in the diaries.

“Hey, it’s late, come to bed.” Wayne stood in the attic’s doorway.

Conner looked up, smiling. “I like the sound of that.”

“Come here.” Wayne put his hand out.

Conner got up, carefully placing the diary on the shelf. He crossed the room to Wayne and took his hand. “I’m sleeping with you tonight? In your bed?”

“I don’t know how much sleep we’re going to get,” Wayne chuckled, running his nose alongside Conner’s neck.

“I do have to go to work in the morning,” Conner sighed, leaning his head to the side, allowing Wayne more access.

“Four days…” Wayne wrapped his arm around Conner’s slim waist, pulling him in closer. “I don’t know how I’m going to survive.”

Conner slipped his arms around Wayne’s neck, tangling his fingers in soft blond hair. “I don’t want to sleep without you.”

“What if I came up? We could get a hotel room?” Wayne kissed Conner’s neck, running his tongue alongside the rapid pulse. “You taste so good,” Wayne growled deep in his throat.

  “You’d do that?” Conner breathed.

“I would.” Wayne scooped Conner up in his arms and descended the attic steps. Carrying Conner to his room - now their room - he gently eased him onto the bed, removing his jeans along the way.

“Your skin is like silk, I’ve never seen anything like it.” Wayne touched the soft skin of Conner’s inner thigh. Making his way up, he helped Conner remove his shirt and then discarded his own clothing. Climbing under the duvet, he pulled Conner close to him, their naked bodies touching. Wayne lightly touched Conner’s chest; it was smooth, devoid of any hair and warm. Conner shivered under his fingers.

  “What is it?”

“I’m not used to this, you wanting me, touching me. It’s going to take a little time to adjust.”

“Do you want me to stop?” Wayne removed his hand.

“No… I want more, I want so much more. You heard my thoughts that day Wayne, I’ve wanted you from the moment I set eyes on you. I’m not Juliet, I never will be and I think that’s a good thing, because unlike her I want you. I want you to touch me, kiss me and make love to me whenever you want.”

Wayne took Conner’s face in his hands. “Do you know how much that means to me? That you want my touches, my kisses…me? It seems I waited forever to hear someone say that to me.”

“Well, a hundred and sixty six years…” Conner grinned.

“Smartass.” Wayne pressed his lips to Conner’s. The low groan that left his lips vibrated through Conner, their bodies pressed together tighter and Wayne moved his hips against Conner’s warm body. Now that he’d been inside him, he craved him; like he needed food and water... he needed Conner. They moved together with Conner matching his movements, the feel of their erections pressed together was warm and wet. Wayne pulled Conner on top of him, encouraging him to keep moving, the friction sending tingles down his spine. Conner was looking down on him, lips partially open, breathing hard. He was so damn beautiful.

  “Keep moving…” Wayne choked out. “I’m coming…”

Conner leaned down, catching Wayne’s lips with his own. Sliding his tongue across Wayne’s lips, he entered his mouth and ground his erection against Wayne’s. A loud growl pierced the silence as Wayne erupted between them. The smell of semen hit Conner’s nostrils, his canines dropped and he came with a loud cry. Wayne’s fingers buried in his ass, his hips bucked as he emptied himself. Conner collapsed, burying his nose in Wayne’s neck. Conner chuckled as Wayne slid their sticky bodies around.

“We should clean up,” Conner said.

“I’ve got a shirt somewhere.” Wayne leaned over, grabbing his T-shirt off the nightstand. Wayne cleaned between them and made sure Conner was clean before throwing the shirt across the room. “I didn’t think I could come doing that.”

Conner chuckled, hiding in Wayne’s neck. “I can come from you kissing me.”

“Yeah?” Wayne waggled his eyebrows. “We should test that out.”

Conner laughed as Wayne wrestled him onto his back. He stared up into the face of the man he’d had a crush on for years, and now Wayne was finally his.

  “Wayne?”

  “Yes?”

  “You listening to my thoughts?”

“No…should I be?” Wayne grinned. “I think a little privacy is in order now and then.”

“Okay,” Conner sighed as Wayne kissed him softly.

“Get some sleep; we have to be up early.” Wayne pulled Conner into him. Wayne knew when Conner had fallen asleep; he had a cute little snore. Wayne looked into Conner’s face, smoothing the blond halo back from his brow. “Night.”

~~ Conner woke up to a loud beeping. He rolled over, only to run into another body. He opened his eyes, blinking and trying to focus. Wayne’s broad chest was in his face. An arm flew out and smacked the alarm on the opposite night stand. Conner was pulled closer into Wayne. He’d forgotten where he was for a moment, now it was all coming back to him. Wayne had asked him to move into his room with him. Conner couldn’
t help the smile on his lips and the tiny giggle that escaped him. Wayne’s sleep-filled, gravelly voice brought his head up.

  “Conner…”

  “Yes?”

“Good morning.” Wayne ran his hands

down Conner’s back, cupping his ass.

“Yes it is,” Conner sighed, as Wayne

pulled their groins together. “I thought I was

dreaming. I forgot where I was; you sleep on this

side of the bed, don’t you?”

Wayne stretched out, pulling Conner on

top of him. “I normally do, yes. I can sleep on

either side or in the middle, don’t much matter.” “Is that right?” Conner traced Wayne’s

  lips with his fingertip.

“You keep doing that - ” Wayne grinned,

moving his hips upwards. “We’ll never leave this

  house.”

“I know, but I have to take a shower and

get ready for work.” Conner tried to slide off to

the side, and Wayne sat up, holding him in his

  arms.

“We can shower together. I’m going in

with you, but I’ll go to Drake and Drake, I need

to look over some structural plans.”

“Okay.” Conner leaned in and Wayne met

him halfway. Their lips touched and Conner’s

body blew up in goose bumps as Wayne’s strong

hands cupped his ass. The next thing he knew,

Wayne was carrying him to the bathroom. The

hot water was turned on and Wayne waited for it

to heat up while playing with Conner’s hair. “You like it, don’t you?”

Wayne leaned in, smelling Conner’s hair.

“I’ve always heard that your mate often smells

like your favorite scent or taste. I love honey—” “Yes, I know, you put it on everything.” “Everything about you smells and tastes

  like honey.”

“I wonder if that’s why you taste like

  Hershey bars,” Conner chuckled.

Wayne pushed the shower door open and

pulled Conner in with him. “I want to know what

  you taste like.”

  Conner wrapped his arms around

Wayne’s neck. “When you’re ready - one thing at

a time. I’m in no hurry.”
