“Lay down.” I grabbed Sky’s hands and guided her to the bed.
No, not sex…
“Are you sure no one is around?” Sky slowly let her body fall onto the cot. She covered her hand over her breasts and glanced around.
“No, they just left.” I pulled her hand away and stepped back. “You heard the siren and saw the big read truck leave.”
“But what if–”
“–we miss our golden opportunity to do this?” I walked over and sat down on the little stool behind the easel. “All my inspiration will just disappear.”
She sat up. “Forever?” I could see the small smile on the edges of her lips. She was playing along and it was damn sexy.
“Forever and ever.” I pointed my brush in her direction. “Now lay down and close your eyes.”
My life before the accident. All the memories. Every single one was back in the forefront of my mind.
The paintings in the little room were adorning the walls of our house now.
Every time I placed my brush on the canvas I thought about my life and the path I had to take to bring me to this very moment.
“Did you hear that?” She opened her eyes.
“Sky.” I tried to sound stern but laughed instead. “Five more minutes.” I planned to stare at her for eternity though.
Everyone deserves their happily ever after…especially when it involves the perfect prince charming. Sharing a modern day fairytale for the Man Card series just seemed right.
Now, let’s head back to the beach. Sasha, Leslie’s sister from Her Lifeguard will be taking an unplanned trip with someone pretty special. Preorder Her Beach Bum here.

The Loner was always going to be about a painter that lives in Prescott. Taking it a step further and making it a modern day fairytale was a happy surprise for even me.
I hope you enjoyed Sky and Justin’s forever romance. They both deserved their happy ending.
If you’re a fan of Beauty and The Beast, you may have caught what I did with the characters in the story. Lucy and Cora took the place of Lumière and Cogsworth. Pip the dog took the place of Chip. We also had Garrison who took the place of Gaston. Oh, and Sky’s father, Marty took the place of Maurice. (Yes, I had too much fun with this story.)
If you love fun, easy to read romantic comedies, then the Man Card series is sure to make you laugh out loud.
