It begins with goodbye Page 15

by R. S James

We haven’t heard any more from Colton, since he found out I was completely done. Clarissa still hasn’t even tried to see Caitlynn or any of us. Carly and Xavier are doing well, and I hope in a year or so to have a wedding to attend. Carson is still Carson. He has found the one, but he isn’t admitting it yet. He tells everyone he doesn’t have room in his life for another girl, since Caitlynn has stolen his heart. He told me once that he is afraid to get to attached to a girl for fear he is his father's son. I tried to knock that thought right out of his head, and I told him that is not something that is handed down. If you truly love someone, then you have no reason to cheat.

We are all holding hands, as we wait for the doctor to come in with the news. Finally, the door opens, and the doctor walks in, while looking at a chart. I take a deep breath and look at everyone in this room with me, and I know I’m okay. Looking at the doctor, I say, “Regardless of the results today, I’m perfect.”

He nods his head, “Yes Claire, you are, and you are still in remission. You won’t need tested for another five years. Congratulations.”

Everyone is whooping, as I sit with tears rolling down my face. Maddox looks at me, “Babe, why are you crying? This is amazing news.”

“We fought, and we won! We beat it.”

  “No babe, you did this.”

“No Maddox, if it weren't for you and our kids, I would’ve had nothing to fight for and no one to fight beside me. So yes, we did it.” I kiss him with all of the emotions I have in me. This has been the greatest news, since finding Maddox.

  About the Author

R.S. James is an up and coming romance author and an avid reader. First, I am a mom to two active kids who keep this sports mom hopping from one event to the other, and the wife to a hunter and fisherman who enjoys spending time with his family.

I’m a big believer in family and I love being a sister, an aunt, and a daughter. I enjoy sitting on the porch enjoying talking with my friends who I hold close to my heart.

The voices of my characters demanded that their stories come to life so now here I am letting you in on my the going ins and outs of my mind.
