  INT. GABRIEL SALCEDO’S COMPUTER STORE

  SAM

Al, why haven’t I leaped? It’s been two days.

  AL

I don’t know Sam, maybe there’s something you’re still supposed do here for Gabriel. But, Sammi Jo has worked out a theory that can possibly return you back home. It’s going to take all your concentration to make it work though, buddy.

  SAM

  What is it, Al?

  AL

She isolated your aura between leaps. It doesn’t last long, but we’ve figured out a way to hold that moment. I know you get all Swiss-cheesed, but you’ll have to concentrate as hard as you can on not leaping once you’re in your body.

  SAM

My body? Sammi Jo came up with this theory, and she thinks it can work?

  AL

  Yes.

  SAM

Then it’ll work, Al. I know it will.

  Donna ENTERS the store.

  Al STARES at her.

  AL

Sam, turn around. I think I know why you’re still here.

Sam TURNS to LOOK at Donna.

  SAM

What is it A…h-how, uh, may I help you, ma’am?

  DONNA

Mr. Salcedo, isn’t it? Or is it you, Sam?

  SAM

S-Sam? Y-You’ve obviously mistaken me for someone else, ma’am.

Donna STARES at Gabriel/Sam in disbelief.

  DONNA

Well, Donald Cutter told me about what happened a few days ago, Mr. Salcedo. It all seems so surreal, I’m not quite sure I even believe it. But, if it is you, Sam, I’m sorry for whatever happened that made you be here. I never meant to cause any problems, just wanted both of us to be happy. To do what I thought was the right thing to do. I hope you can, will, still believe in me. In us.

  Donna TURNS to leave.

  SAM

Uh, ma’am, I’m certain that, um, t-this Sam will forgive you. And that he’ll always believe.

  Donna LOOKS BACK at him.

  DONNA

Thank you, Mr. Salcedo. I hope you’re right.

  AL

Hope you know what you’re doing, Sam. Are you sure about trusting her?

Sam STARES after Donna as she EXITS the shop.

  SAM

It’s time to go home, AL.

  AL

  Right, okay.

  Al YELLS behind him.

  AL

  Gooshie, Sam’s ready!

  Sam LEAPS.

Sam LOOKS around, seeing his own reflection in the mirrored table. A moment of recognition COMES OVER him.

  SAM

  Al?

  AL

  Sam? Sam!

  SAM

  I’m back? It worked?

  AL

Oh Sam, you’re back! It worked!

Sam SMILES. GRABBING Al, the two HUG.

  SAM

  It worked, Al! It worked!

  AL

  Thanks to Sammi Jo, buddy.

  SAM

Doesn’t it just mean that we, I, in a sense created the Evil Leaper program by creating Project Quantum Leap and leaping in the first place?

  AL

Well, yes and no. There was your original purpose, the desire to time travel within your own lifetime. But you couldn’t have foreseen all the crazy hoodoo that has happened over the years.

  SAM

I should have though, Al. I should have.

  AL

What about all the people you’ve helped Sam. What about Sammi Jo?

  SAM

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change any of that. I’m glad for that. You of all people should understand. But at what cost? Donna is correct, I never should have used it for my own selfish gain when given the opportunity. And as far as we know, the Evil Leaper Project is still out there messing with history possibly because of it.

  AL

Thanks to President McBride, we have all the funding we need from those government nozzles to continue righting any wrongs caused by it.

  Al POINTS upward.

After all, who says this isn’t how the big guy upstairs planned it to happen in the first place?

  Sam agreeably LAUGHS.

  SAM

Maybe you’re right, Al. Maybe you’re right. What about Gabriel Salcedo?

Al LOOKS at him in delighted enthusiasm.

  AL

Oh, well you’re going to love this, Sam. After expanding his computer service firm, he launched a multi-million dollar software startup. Some of his software was used by Sammy Jo to upgrade Ziggy’s sensors.

Sam STARES back at him in AMAZED BEWILDERMENT.

  SAM

That’s unbelievable, Al. So, did we affect that outcome too? Or, is that the way things were supposed to be?

  Al again POINTS upward.

  AL

  Guess we’ll never really know.

EXT. QUANTUM LEAP PROJECT FACILITY - DAY

  QUICK CUT:

INT. QUANTUM LEAP PROJECT FACILITY – LEAP CHAMBER

A month has passed since accomplishing the feat of returning Dr. Beckett home. Aware that in all probability the Evil Leaper Project still exists, Quantum Leap Project proceeds with a new leaper, Dr. Jack Cassady, and his companion, Commander Ellie Wells, to continue countering the ELP.

Drs. Beckett and Fuller WALK down a hallway away from the chamber.

  SAMMI JO

Mom will be happy to see you. To really see you for you.

  SAM

  Your mom? Abigail?

  SAMMI JO

Yeah, of course. What? Did you think she doesn’t know? Naturally, she’s older than you’ll remember.

  SAM

Guess I just figured…[Sam GRINS] It will be good to see her too.

From behind, a technician RUNS after them.

  TECHNICIAN

  Dr. Fuller? Dr. Beckett?

  Both TURN, RESPONDING in unison.

  SAM & SAMMI JO

  Yes?

  TECHNICIAN

  We’ve, um, encountered a problem.

  SAMMI JO

  What kind of problem?

  TECHNICIAN

Well, um, we’ve lost Dr. Cassady.

Sammi Jo TURNS to Sam. Both UTTER an exclamation, again in unison.

  SAM & SAMMI JO

  Oh boy.

  FADE OUT:
