Everyone needs someone who can handle their dark side
—Unknown
To all you daddy kink lovers. This one’s for you.
Off-limits.
The bold warning that blared like sirens at my attraction for my roommate’s father.
It was wrong, forbidden.
I was hungry for attention. Determined. And he was an appetite that needed to be satiated.
I told myself just once, but now that I’ve gotten a taste, there’s no turning back.
She made a mistake taunting me.
Thinking she could handle a man like myself. I shouldn’t have allowed her so close. A stronger man would have denied her.
But I’m a bad, bad man.
And if I had any willpower of staying away…
It’s gone now.

I’ve been on campus for less than an hour, and I already hate college. Sweat drips down my back, soaking my white tank top. The entire freshman class now knows I’m wearing a pink bra. Not that I give a shit. I shake my tits at a kid walking past, his eyes glued to my chest, causing him to drop his Tupperware containers.
It’s move-in day, and go figure, I’m on my own. Mommy Dearest overbooked herself, which left me to hitch a ride all the way up to campus and unpack everything myself. A whole whopping four boxes. Standing in the center of the tiny dorm room, I lift my shirt, using it as a towel to wipe at the beaded sweat above my brow.
“Oh…um, excuse me.” A deep, alluring voice has me lowering my tank just enough for my eyes to lock on the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen. Dark, thick hair, the bluest of eyes, chiseled cheeks, muscled chest, arms…Jesus, I think I may have soaked my panties.
“Sorry. Is this room four twenty-two?”
Even if it wasn’t, my answer would be yes. God yes. “It is. Are you lost or something?” I realize I’ve yet to bring my tank top down, leaving my pink-covered breasts on full display. He’s dressed in a pair of fitted jeans and a casual t-shirt, accentuating the enormous amount of time he must spend at the gym.
He studies me with unwavering attention. The I see something I shouldn’t like and can’t seem to look away kind of attention. And I love every second of it. My heart skips, and a tremor of temptation travels up and down my spine. Sadly, he catches his mistake and forces his eyes up to mine. Clearing his throat, he says, “Oh…uh, no. Actually, right where I need to be.”
Well…isn’t today my lucky day.
There’s no denying the instant attraction between us. His eyes burn with a fire of undeniable lust, igniting something between us. I bite the inside of my cheek, taking a step closer. I bet he smells divine. Like spice and all man. “Hmmm…I think I can help you with—”
“Oh, good! You found it!” Our unspoken allure gets interrupted by a petite blonde entering my room and I lower my shirt. “Hey, you must be Violet. I’m Hazel, your roommate. I see you’ve already met my dad.”
My eyes shift from the peppy blonde to the man standing next to her. Dad. An indescribable blast of excitement flows through me at the indecent way he drank me in before getting caught by his daughter. I lick my lower lip, taking in my new roommate’s daddy. “Yes, we sure have.” My words hold a lot more meaning than she picks up on. His eyes shift, breaking from mine, and I stretch my hand out to him. “Hi. I’m Violet. Nice to meet you.”
He snaps out of his haze, reaching out. “Mr. Winters. Heath. Nice to meet you.” Our hands connect, and a spark zaps through my veins.
“Awesome! I’m super excited. It’s gonna be great. Are your parents here too?” Mr. Winters instantly retreats. Buzzkill, Hazel.
“No. Actually, it’s just my mom, and she got stuck at work.” Translation: she had any and everything better to do than help her daughter with her first important journey to school.
“Oh, okay. My dad and I can help you if you need stuff brought up. He’s the best. Just ask, and he’ll help you with anything.”
Oh, I bet he will. His cheeks flame with guilt, which tells me his sweet daughter would most definitely frown upon the fact that he just eye-fucked her new roommate. I probably shouldn’t encourage it, but the butterflies have yet to settle in my belly. Acting like this only confirms the horrible things my mother has accused me of. My mother always hated me for the way I looked. Blamed me for supposedly being a temptress to the revolving door of men she had in and out of our home. Did I ever encourage it? To piss her off, yes. Did all the drunk men she brought home ever attempt something with me? All the time. Did I ever pursue an older man? Never.
Until now.
What the heck has gotten into you, Violet? Great question. This is super inappropriate. He’s probably twice my age. “Thanks,” is all that comes out of my mouth. My heart hammers, and I suddenly become insecure. I adjust my tank top, wishing it wasn’t soaked through, and try to busy myself with my stuff while they finish bringing up the rest of her things.
“Whoever made this stupid drawer needs to go back to design school,” I grumble, losing my battle with the fifteen random pieces that came wi
th an Ikea nightstand. My nose picks up a hint of spice, and I look up to find Mr. Winters kneeling next to me.
“Want some help?” he asks, his voice as enticing as the rest of him. My hand jitters, and I accidentally drop the tiny tool in my hand.
“Here, let me.” He reaches over, his fingers grazing mine as he picks up the miniature Allen wrench. “These can be tricky,” he says, grabbing the directions, acting as if nothing occurred between us just hours ago. I wonder if I made it up.
“Not sure how this company stays in business with all the extra pieces they jam in,” he goes on, fumbling with the tools. I can’t help but admire his biceps as they tighten with each twist of the wrench. When he leans forward, I steal a peek down his shirt, choking on my own breath at the two rock-hard pecs.
“You okay?”
If shamefully turned on means okay, then yep. “Yeah, just…it’s dry in these rooms. I’m going to get some water.” I get up, ignoring his penetrating stare. My mind won’t stop picturing his eyes and the way they’ve marked me. It’s wrong. It’s confusing. A pool of wetness forms between my thighs. I hide my laughter as I dip my head to the fountain, the water barely quenching my thirst. I stand, wiping the moisture from my lips. My fingers graze along my bottom lip, imagining his pressed against mine. Wondering how it would feel if he pushed me up against this wall, his strong hands roaming freely over my skin.
This is crazy. I’ve lost my damn mind fantasizing about my new roommate’s dad. My roommate’s hot dad. Smoking hot, built, mysterious, totally-crossing-boundaries, luring-me-in dad. Just because someone gives you fuck me eyes doesn’t mean they wanna fuck you. Probably true. I sigh, shaking off the silly illusion, and return to my room. Hazel stands in the doorway, hugging her dad and saying goodbye. I twist on my heel, feeling like I’m intruding on their moment when Hazel catches my presence.
“Hey. Dad’s done. He’s gonna take off. Want to check out the quad and get some dinner?”
A flicker of disappointment twinges in my chest at hearing he’s leaving. I slap on an awkward smile, hoping to hide it. “Cool. Sounds great. Nice meeting you, Mr. Winters.”
He steps forward, sticking his hand out to shake mine. His smile is innocent, confirming I made this whole scenario up in my head. “Please, call me Heath,” he says as I take his hand. It’s large and warm, the inside calloused. I wonder what it would feel like between my thighs. As if he can read my thoughts, his grip tightens. I make the mistake of holding eye contact. His penetrating gaze causes my core to tighten, and my lips part. I pull away, masking my building desire, and offer Hazel a too-big smile.
“Yep. Sounds good. Great. Nice meeting you. I’ll just be down the hall.” With that, I rush away before I throw myself at my roommate’s too-hot-for-his-own-good, soon-to-be-the-leading-star-of-my-sex-dreams dad.
The campus is huge. We only make it halfway across the quad before our stomachs growl, and we stop in the Student Center to test out our meal plan cards. We’re sitting at a table, chowing down on burgers, when my curiosity gets the best of me.
“So, is it just you and your dad?” Does his wife know he has a wandering eye?
“Yeah. My mom cheated on my dad a few years back. She packed up and left shortly after. We barely hear from her, which is fine by me. She’s living it up in Las Vegas with her yoga instructor—the one she cheated with.”
I take another bite, digesting this information. How shitty of her mom. I can’t imagine cheating on someone like Heath. He seems kind, compassionate. Obviously he’s extremely attractive. From what I learned about Hazel in her bio, they are pretty wealthy, which means he’s successful too.
“That stinks. Sorry to hear.”
“Oh, don’t be. I love my dad, and he’s better off. Took him some time, though. He was super angry. But who wouldn’t be? The only bummer is he throws himself into his work. I’d go days at a time without seeing him.”
“What does he do?”
“Real estate. He works with high-profile investors, making the big bucks. It’s nice and all, but sometimes I wish he took a break. He’s been wearing himself thin.”
The thought of coming home to him every night, rubbing his shoulders to relieve the day’s stress, and having wild, animal sex sounds hot, amazing and so so—
I choke on my burger.
“Whoa—you okay?” She hands me my drink as I cough and sputter. Clearly, I’m not. I’m daydreaming about being her new mommy.
“Yeah…fine. Hey! Let’s hurry up and finish the rest of the tour. I hear they’re doing ice breaker games on our floor later.” I wiggle my eyebrows, making fun of the lame schedule they posted for us to get to know one another, using it to deflect from what my out-of-control mind is thinking.
Violet
The first week of school is a lot more fast-paced than I expected. More than half of my professors give out test dates before even introducing themselves. It’s a lot to take in, and I’m worried this whole college thing is a mistake. This wasn’t the plan I had in store for myself. I was perfectly fine with staying home and continuing to work on my ambition of having a non-degree based career, but Mom wanted me out of the house so it would be less distracting when she brought her flings home—especially the ones who had an eye for her young, attractive daughter.
I never considered myself appealing. Not like my roommate. Hazel and I are the exact opposite. Unlike her bright blonde hair, mine is jet black. My mother used to always compare me to the mythical creature, Medusa, luring men in with my venomous thick, wavy hair. One year, I dressed up as her for Halloween, just to piss Mom off—which backfired when her flavor of the week got drunk and tried making a move on me. I always wondered if she wanted my fate to be like Medusa’s: beheaded.
There’s no love lost between us. Sending me away was probably the best thing for us both. This way, I get an education while she finds me Daddy number six. That train of thought has my mind running back to dangerous territory. Heath Winters: hot, sexy, off-limits.
I blame this sudden obsession on my mother. Maybe I’m pining for a daddy to pay attention to me, but it’s not the nighttime stories and hand holding I’m craving. Sure, I’d want him to tuck me into bed. But then I’d want him to get under the covers with me, run his hands all over my flushed and eager body, devour me with his tongue, fuck me with his fingers, and put his cock in places I’m ashamed to admit I lust for.
“I need to get laid,” I mumble out loud, walking into my dorm room. Maybe I can find some random frat boy to fuck the image of Mr. Winters out of me. That’s my solution to all this. Not to mention, it’s wrong, and I’m starting to feel guilty. He’s Hazel’s dad, for crying out loud.
“Hey! How was class?” Hazel startles me as she greets me at the door holding her backpack.
“Oh, hey. It was okay. I feel like I should have taken a note-taking class before all this. The professors talk so fast and about so much, how do they expect me to get it all down?”
Hazel laughs, grabbing my backpack and tossing them both in the corner of our room. “Right? I don’t even get half the stuff. I’m about to find a cute boy to swindle into taking my notes for me.”
“That won’t be hard. Every single guy on this campus drools over you. Maybe you can throw a good word in and have them take notes for me too.” And that’s a fact. Hazel and I have psychology together, and I swear more eyes are on her than the professor.
“Shut it. Guys trip over themselves when you walk by. But listen, there’s a huge party going on tonight. A guy in my physics class invited me to it. Let’s go check it out.”
“Oh, I don’t know…” I’d kinda rather stay home and stare at the photos you have up of your dad. Shut it down, Violet! “Or…yeah, screw it. I’m in major need of a hookup.”
Hazel squeezes my hand, jumping up and down. “Yes! It’s gonna be awesome! Our first official college party!”
And hopefully, a hookup that will cure this lingering craving that won’t disappear.
The mus
ic blares and the bass is pounding in my chest. Drunk college kids crowd the lawn and porch, creating a sea of red Solo cups. Hazel drags me up the stairs, and we head into the house in search of the guy who invited her. “There are like a billion people here,” I point out.
“Yeah, but he was super cute. I wanna thank him and try to get a gauge on him.”
Being thrown into a small space with a stranger, you tend to have nothing to do but talk. Over the past week, Hazel and I have learned a lot about each other. We have a ton in common and a lot of the same likes and dislikes. We both lost our virginity at sixteen too—mine to my boyfriend, hers to her private yoga instructor.
“This is awesome, isn’t it?” She grabs two full cups of beer and hands me one as she takes a huge swallow of hers. “Gross. Guess we better get used to keg beer for the next four years.” We “cheers” and make our way farther into the house. The night zips by in a blur, and before we know it, we’re both pretty buzzed. The music flows through us, and we spend half the night dancing. Hazel finally runs into the physics guy and takes him up on his offer to do a shot, leaving me alone.
“Looks like you just got ditched.” I whip my head around, pleasantly surprised to find a cute guy—shaggy blonde hair, kissable lips, and a smile that certainly does things to my libido.
“It does, doesn’t it?”
“Jim.” He sticks his hand out, and I return the gesture, taking his hand in mine.
“Violet.”
“Yeah, I know. We actually have psychology together.”
I stare at him, searching for why he looks familiar. “Wait, you’re…don’t you—?”
“Teach the class? Yeah.”
“Do they allow professors at parties?” I ask, my lips forming into a playful smirk.
“Not normally, but this one’s off-campus. I tend to sneak to a few every now and then.” We hold each other’s gaze until a shyness falls over me. Breaking our connection, I stare back off into the crowded dance floor. “Wanna dance?”
