“I know that I’ll put you in one of those agencies if you don’t find a match,” Mr. Fleck said.

“You can’t do that!” Dylan exclaimed.

“Yes, I can. I’m still your legal guardian until you leave college. Only then, after marrying someone, you’ll be totally an adult. Until then, you have to obey me,” Mr. Fleck said. That was Chayl’s way. Dylan sighed. He couldn’t believe what he was listening to, but he wouldn’t say anything. His dad could still beat him. “Why don’t you and Emily go to your room and talk? Maybe you have many things in common.”

“Yes, dad,” Dylan said and looked at Emily. “Come.”

Emily was still looking at her feet, but nodded, following Dylan. They slowly started going upstairs, Dylan going in front of her, and Emily following behind like she didn’t want to walk side by side with him.

Dylan didn’t consider that “his room”. He only went there during school vacations. It was a plain room, with a large bed, a wardrobe, a desk, and a chair. It smelled like dust since no one actually used it. He went to the large window above the desk and opened it to let fresh air in. Before, his room used to have some of his old toys, but he had no idea where they were now. Maybe his dad got rid of it like everything else.

Dylan sat on the bed and Emily stayed there, standing in front of him, still looking at her feet. Dylan thought about how different she was from Natasha, his heart rushing. Natasha was loud, happy, and she always did what she wanted. She would never stand like that in front of a stranger.

She doesn’t want a relationship, dumbass, he thought to himself. There was nothing he could do about that. Natasha would never be his girlfriend, and she wouldn’t accept the Junction Year, even if that meant jail. She would rather be literally locked up than figuratively in a relationship that she didn’t want.

  Dylan looked at Emily again.

“So, how are you?” Dylan asked.

“I’m fine, thank you, Master,” she answered.

“Master?” Dylan whispered. “So, do you actually want to be a slave?”

“Yes, Master, it’s my biggest fantasy and dream,” Emily answered like she had researched those phrases.

“Please, don’t call me master,” Dylan said. Emily now looked up, frowning, as if she wasn’t expecting that.

“… yes, Master. I mean. What do you want me to call you, Master?”

“What about Dylan?” he answered. Emily blushed again, uncomfortable with that thought.

“I don’t know if that would be appropriate, Master…”

“As your master, I’m ordering that you don’t call me master, for god’s sake!” Dylan exclaimed. She looked at her feet again. Dylan sighed.

“Okay. Call me Sir, then. Would you feel more comfortable with that?”

  “Yes, Sir!”

“Good. Gosh. That’s crazy,” Dylan said. He always knew these agencies existed, but he couldn’t understand what would bring anyone to sign up to be a slave. It was definitely common in Chayl’s world. Be a slave in a relationship. It was all consensual. But that was not for Dylan.

“Emily?” Dylan called. She looked up, eagerly. “Why do you want to be my slave?”

“It has always been my dream to have a Master,” she answered, again almost automatically.

“You don’t even know me. I could do whatever I want with you.”

  “Yes, Sir,” she answered.

“Okay, so, sit here with me, then.”

Emily didn’t hesitate to do as told. She sat on the bed, looking at him with her blue eyes below her fringe.

“If I told you to undress, what would you do?”

  Emily looked at him, confused.

Then, she promptly took her shirt off. Dylan exclaimed in shock, he didn’t want her to actually do it, but she was already taking her blue bra off when he yelled:

“STOP! I DON’T ACTUALLY WANT YOU TO UNDRESS!”

But it was too late, her bra was already on her the bed and Dylan could see her small round breasts. He felt himself getting hard, she was gorgeous, but he shook his head

“Emily, put your clothes back on, right now!” he exclaimed.

  “I thought you said…”

“Forget what I said!” Dylan exclaimed again, in disbelief. Emily put her shirt back on, but held her bra in one hand, almost if waiting for him to change his mind.

When the moment passed and they both just kept staring at each other, he knew he needed to do something about it, so he quickly added, “Emily, what do you like to do? Tell me about your hobbies or something besides being a slave and stripping randomly.”

Then again, Emily hesitated, like she had no idea how to proceed.

  “I guess… I like to read. Sir.”

“Read? Good! I have a bunch of books. If only I find it. Stay here,” Dylan said, getting up, more excited. She didn’t move. He went to the shelf above the desks, pleased to find that at least the books were still there. A bunch of cool books from his childhood. As a child, when he got home and had nothing else to do, he read like crazy. He took some books back to the bed, where Emily was still sitting still like she wasn’t able to move a muscle.

“Here. See if you would like to read any of those.”

“Would you like me to read it, Sir?”

“Yes. Because I have to go now. And I don’t want you to be bored here.”

“Yes, Sir,” she said, looking at the options.

  “Emily?” Dylan called.

  “Yes, Sir?”

“Look, I order you to do whatever you want while I’m away. I’ll come back soon, okay? Like, if you get hungry, I order you to get whatever food you want in the kitchen. If my dad asks where I am, tell him you don’t know and that I’ll be back soon,” Dylan said. Emily, once again, frowned, confused. “Or don’t you wish to obey me?”

“No, Sir. Of course I wish to obey you. I’ll do as told.”

  “Good. Be right back.”

He rushed downstairs. If his father was still in the living room, he would just run away, not saying anything. But he wasn’t there anymore, and Dylan sighed in relief. He called another taxi and got out of the house.

Outside, he took a deep breath. He felt his heart rushing, afraid that his dad would spot him running away. The taxi took only three minutes to arrive, and his heart got back to the regular pace when he was inside the car, going back to campus, breathing in relief.

He went to apartment 39, opened up the door without knocking, and Lucy sat up on the sofa, confused.

  “What’s up, Dy? What happened?”

“Lucy!” Dylan exclaimed. “Gosh, Lucy, you have no idea what my dad did this time!”

“Calm down, baby, calm down!” Lucy exclaimed, getting up. “Would you like some water or something? I made hot cocoa! You’re so out of breath!”

“Yeah, yeah, sure, thanks!” Dylan exclaimed, going to the sofa. He sat down, putting a pile of pillows on his lap like he was trying to bury himself there. Lucy rushed to the kitchen to get everything.

That was when Natasha got out of the bedroom. She was looking like she’d just woken up, with her messy hair and run out makeup from the previous day.

“Dylan! What are you doing here, love?” she asked, putting her arms up in a stretch, and yawned. Her small pajama shirt lifted up, showing part of her belly. She was also wearing small shorts. “What time is it?”

“Come here, I’ll tell you all,” Dylan said, while Lucy served him two cups, one with cold water, the other one with hot cocoa. He accepted both, starting to gulp down the water. He started telling the story, emphasizing the slave part. Every time he said that word, Natasha raised her eyebrows, her mouth open in a smile of disbelief, and Lucy giggled.

“And now she’s there. In my room. Reading or whatever. What the fuck,” Dylan said. “What bullshit is that, honestly? That’s not how these things work! My dad can’t get me a slave from an agency and expect us to get along just fine”

“Well, it appears that it’s how it works here,
Natasha said, and Dylan examined her words, trying to look for some hint of jealousy. He didn’t spot any.

“What do I do, guys?! I don’t understand what he expects me to do. Bring her to live here on campus with me? Doesn’t she study too? Does he expect that I‘ll be comfortable doing whatever I want with this person who I just met?” Dylan said, freaking out a little. Both girls laughed at how desperate he looked.

“It’s all right, it’s all right,” Lucy said. “Let’s wait for Oliver, he’ll know what to do.”

“No!” Natasha exclaimed. “Take me there. I want to see her.”

  “My dad will kill you.”

“Take us all there!” Natasha said. “Like a party. Can’t you invite your friends over?”

“I have to ask Oliver…” Lucy said, but Natasha rolled her eyes.

“Oliver does everything he can to help people. He’ll surely help Dylan, his best friend. Come on. Take us there, will you?”

  Chapter 5. The Dinner Party

Right at the same moment, Dylan’s phone rang. He took a quick look at it, rolled his eyes, and turned to Natasha.

“It’s my dad! Again… he won’t quit calling me, just because I left my new slave back there.”

“Tell him you’re inviting us over!” Natasha ordered, holding Dylan’s shoulder. “Answer the phone, Dylan!”

“Uh, okay, wait, yeah, hi, dad,” he said, picking up the call. The girls fell silent. “Yeah, I know, um, I’m about to go home, I just had to get some things here. Yeah. Hey, dad, can I take my friends over so they can meet Emily?” Dylan asked while Natasha grabbed his arm with expectation. He looked at her with his mouth open while expecting his dad to answer. “Yep, yep, for dinner,” he repeated, and Natasha showed her white teeth in a huge smile, starting to move in place already. Lucy giggled.

“So, it’s okay?” he asked. “Okay, we’ll be there in one hour or so.”

Dylan turned off the phone and looked at his friend’s faces.

  “So?” Lucy asked.

“He said it’s okay, which is a miracle. He might be in a good mood, after all,” Dylan said. “Let’s just wait for Oliver and Julian.”

“Ugh! I can’t wait!” Natasha said, overly excited like she always was.

“What will we do to wait?” Dylan asked.

“Watch stupid shows as always, duh!” Natasha exclaimed again, turning on the TV.

“I’ll grab the popcorn!” Lucy exclaimed too, getting up.

It took them a while to choose the TV show until they landed on a stand-up comedy. They were talking loudly in the beginning, but everyone settled down eventually.

Dylan took the moment to appreciate Natasha. The girl was biting her fingernail, looking at the TV not blinking, with a big smile. She could find even the silliest things funny. Dylan imagined how this Natasha-Emily encounter would be. They both were completely different. Dylan couldn’t stop watching the way Natasha moved on the sofa, laughing at the show without holding herself back, grabbing Dylan’s arm every time she got very excited. Emily would have to ask permission to do so. Dylan didn’t want to give anyone permission to do anything. He sighed.

“What are you looking at?” Natasha asked, suddenly, bringing Dylan back from his daydream.

“Well, just watching you…” he said then Natasha kissed him.

He widened his eyes while he felt the girl’s tongue entering his mouth, exploring around, sucking his own tongue, and he kept the kiss going, even though he could barely comprehend what she was doing, but he wouldn’t miss the opportunity, so he also closed his eyes. He put his hand on the girl’s neck, the girl ran her hands through his chest, going to his belly, ending at his pants.

“What are you doing?” Oliver exclaimed, coming inside. He’d just arrived. Natasha stopped, smiling, and Dylan still had his eyes closed, not ready for the kiss to stop.

  “You naughty!” Lucy exclaimed, giggling.

“It’s just that I love Dylan and wanted to kiss him, he seemed so upset,” Natasha said, in a mocking tone, and squeezed Dylan’s cheek. He felt his heart thundering inside his chest and all he wanted was to keep kissing her. “We have a lot to tell you, Oliver.”

“We do!” Lucy exclaimed. “Tell him, Dylan!”

“Oh, yeah!” Dylan exclaimed, coming back to reality. “I’ve got a slave now.”

“What? A slave?” Oliver asked, still standing by the door, sweaty and tired from the military training, staring at his friends. “You know what? Can you all wait for me to get a shower?”

“Wait, Oliver!” Natasha exclaimed. Oliver stopped and looked at her with no patience.

“Yeah?” he asked in a sarcastic tone.

“You’re looking cute all sweaty,” Natasha said. The girls started giggling uncontrollably. Oliver sighed, rolling his eyes, and kept going to the shower.

“Won’t Julian go too?” Lucy reminded Natasha.

“I’ll call him. But since he started dating Carl, he disappeared,” she said, annoyed.

She got her phone out of her pocket and dialed Julian’s number. It took a while for him to answer. She kept waiting with the phone on her ear and looking at Lucy, stumping her foot. He didn’t pick it up the first time. Natasha sighed and tried again, with no hopes. But then it worked.

“Julian! Yeah! Let’s go to a dinner party at Dylan’s house! Pretty please… I haven’t seen you in forever. Please. Okay, ask Carl and call me back.”

“And?” Lucy asked, looking at her. She shrugged.

“He said he would have to ask Carl. That’s the problem with subs. They always need permission to do anything. No offense, Lucy,” she said and squeezed Lucy’s knee.

“It’s okay, Lucy said like she didn’t even notice the problem with that.

Dylan was by their side, feeling when his heart sunk. Natasha wasn’t a sub. She definitely played like one sometimes. But she was a switcher, someone that liked both positions. Thinking about that, Dylan wasn’t even sure if he was a dom himself. He was nothing like Oliver, he had no desire to boss anyone around.

“I think I’ll start celibacy,” Dylan whispered.

“What was that, honey?” Natasha asked, still looking at the TV. But Oliver came from the hall right on time.

“So, we’re going to Dylan’s? Is that so?” Oliver asked, drying his hair on a towel while wearing just black shorts. He had a defined six-pack.

  “That’s right,” Natasha said, smiling.

“Can we gooooo, please?” Lucy asked, getting to her knees on the sofa, with a big silly smile like a puppy asking for something.

“Sure,” Oliver said. He sat on the couch’s arm by Dylan’s side. Dylan hugged his waist. “What’s the occasion?”

“Thanks, man. You have no idea what’s happening…”

Dylan told Oliver the whole story, only stop to catch his breath. With each word, Oliver’s eyes grew wider. He nodded all the time, to show that he understood what Dylan was saying.

“Well, what the fuck,” Oliver said when Dylan finished. “Your dad got you a slave? Is that so?”

“That was my reaction exactly. And yep. That’s right.”

“Your dad is kinda crazy, no offense.”

“He really is,” Dylan said, closing his eyes like that was too much for him to take.

“So, what’re we waiting for?” Oliver asked, getting up from the sofa. “I need to meet this girl!”

“Julian and Carl,” Natasha said. “We’re waiting for them.”

“Oh, all right,” Oliver said, following to the hall. “I’ll get dressed. Lucy, come here to help me.”

“Yes, sir!” Lucy exclaimed, jumping to her feet without hesitation. They went to their bedroom, leaving Natasha and Dylan behind.

Natasha stared at Dylan. She was leaning her head on her hand; her elbow on the sofa’s arm. She had a sweet smile, her blue eyes shining with a curious sparkle.

“So… how are you feeling with all that?”

“Like a clown,” Dylan confessed, and
they both laughed.

“I’m sorry, baby,” Natasha said and put her hand on Dylan’s jaw.

“There’s nothing I can do. My dad will never get off my back until I guarantee I’ll be with someone for Junction Year.”

“That’s so fucked up,” Natasha said. “They can’t do that. We’re young. The world is big and full of people we’ve never met.”

“Yeah, that’s the point. They want us to stay here, with a Chayl family, so they can rule forever.”

“Let’s run away,” Natasha mouthed making no sounds. Dylan smiled. “No, I mean it. I really do, Dylan, let’s do it,” she insisted, now loud. She was always this contrast between silence and screams.

“I can’t. They’ll get us. And I won’t stand jail, I’m a wuss,” he said, and Natasha laughed. Dylan smiled, warmly.

“Well, I will. For real,” she said while getting up at the same time.

“What?” Dylan asked, but she was already getting to her bedroom, which was right behind the couches.

“I’m almost ready!” she shouted from there, changing the subject.

Julian and Carl opened the door at the same time. Carl didn’t look like he was happy to be there at all. He couldn’t smile even if his life depended on that. Julian tried to be friendly to compensate for his boyfriend, but it wasn’t working.

“So, is everyone ready?” Dylan said.

They walked through campus, talking playfully like they always did, but Dylan had something in his throat. He couldn’t pretend he wasn’t nervous. His shoulders were tense, he kept swallowing hard, his hands sweaty. Natasha saw that and squeezed his arm to give him the strength. He looked at her, smiled, and put his arm on her shoulder, in a hug. She hugged his waist. They had to ask for two separate taxis. Oliver, Lucy, Julian, and Carl went in one, leaving the other for Natasha and Dylan alone. Natasha tried to keep a conversation during the ride, but Dylan couldn’t pay much attention to it.

Dylan felt his stomach turning when he saw the mansion and got out of the taxi. Natasha grabbed one of his arms, Lucy caught the other, Oliver gave him a reassurance look. Julian smiled too, but Carl kept his grumpy face. They walked through the gardens to the front door, and it was time to face his dad.
