“Sit here,” Oliver told Natasha, pointing at the chair. She looked at him, defiantly.
“Oh, yeah, boss!” she said, mockingly, but kept standing up. Instead, she went to the counter and got a cherry. Not even that could annoy Oliver that day.
“Okay, are you all ready?” Oliver asked, going to the middle of the room where they all could see him properly.
“Come on, tell us!” Dylan exclaimed. “Quick, quick!”
“Okay, then…”
“Just tell us already!” Dylan exclaimed again, interrupting him on purpose. Oliver got a pillow from the sofa and threw it at the boy who laughed, defending himself with his hands.
“You all know of our baby, right? So, I have a big announcement to make…”
“You’re killing me with all this suspense!” Dylan exclaimed again, mockingly.
“Shut up, Dylan!!” Natasha said, and he laughed. Julian shook his head.
“Lucy and I will move out,” Oliver said. And the silence fell.
Everyone looked at each other like they were processing the information.
“What?” Natasha was the first one to ask.
“What do you mean, moving out?” Dylan asked.
“Yeah, man,” Oliver said.
“But how, man?” Julian asked. “Will you drop out?”
“Yeah,” Oliver said. Now the silence fell heavier.
“Oliver, you will drop out, is that right?” Natasha asked again. “What about Lucy?”
“I have no idea what I want. I don’t know. I’ll take this time off to figure it out,” Lucy said, trying to look serious and stern. She couldn’t because she looked adorable with her lips painted in red, her little black witchy dress, and her hair tied in a blue bow.
“Why are you going to drop out, man?” Julian asked again. He was a very good student, so he couldn’t understand it.
“Man, you know we’re here in college to find someone. That’s the way it is in Chayl. This is what the Government wants and only that. I already have Lucy. And I also have a career in the military already. I don’t see why I’m wasting time here,” Oliver explained. “We already know where we’re going to live. We wanted to let you know when everything was ready.”
“My heart! I can’t take it!” Natasha said, dramatically. Oliver and Lucy laughed and hugged each other. They looked thrilled. “We’re going to live with other people, and I don’t want to live with other people, you guys are my friends.”
“I also have an announcement,” Dylan said, getting up too. Emily looked at him, frowning.
“What, are you dropping out too?” Natasha asked, opening her mouth, worried.
“Maybe. I don’t know. But I also won’t live on campus anymore.”
“What?” everyone asked, collectively.
“Yeah,” Dylan said. “Emily and I will find an apartment for us to live, and I’ll get a job.”
“You? Getting a job?” Natasha said, ironically.
“Yeah, why?”
“You’re super-rich, you don’t need a job.”
“Yeah, but I WANT a job. I won’t be living off my dad anymore,” Dylan said, determined.
“Will we live together…?” Emily murmured and everyone fell silent.
“You didn’t tell her before announcing it to us?” Oliver asked, laughing.
“Emily,” Dylan said, getting to one knee. The girl’s eyes widened. “Will you live with me?”
“Are you asking her to marry or to be your roommate?” Natasha asked again, her voice annoyed.
“Emily, will you be my roommate?”
“Yes! Yes, I will!” she exclaimed, jumping on his neck in a hug. Dylan hugged her back, feeling her embrace, and a wave of happiness. “This means no agency, right?”
“No agency. I’d never let you go back there. You’re a gem, I don’t believe I’ve found you like that. I’m very lucky,” Dylan said and kissed her, while his friends cheered.
“Very well, then, Julian, will you live with me?” Natasha asked Julian.
“I already live with you!”
“Great!” she said, and they all laughed again.
“Let’s have breakfast!” Oliver said, and they all followed to the table, they had a lot to celebrate.
Later that day, Natasha left no notes. She threw a last look around her bedroom, feeling her heart pounding hard. She had packed everything she needed, and now the place looked quite empty. Heading to the door, she realized she would miss all of that. But she would hesitate no more. She got her things and headed to the airport. She would waste no more time.
