All That Matters Page 15

by Sadie Rose

"This was a great adventure Mom. Thank you." She squeezes my hand and puts her arm around my waist.

"It was fun, wasn't it! We will have to come here often, what do you say?" I smile

  "Yes! For sure!"

We walk back to the car and head home. The drive back is just as lovely and perfect as the trip into town was. After telling Mom that I was going up to my room and thanking her again I head upstairs. I pull my phone out and read Mason's messages.

Mason: I can't wait to graduate. School is boring as hell.

Me: Hey sorry. I was in the shower. Mom was here. We are going to go for a drive! I'll text you when I get back! :)

Mason: Really?! A drive! That's great Ava! I'm so damn proud of you! Text me when you get back and have fun! Mason: I hope you are having fun. I am so damn proud of you baby. I'm thinking about you.

I smile reading his messages. It's after three so he should be getting out of school anytime.

Me: I had the most amazing day Mason! I can't wait for you to get home so I can tell you about it!!

  Chapter 35

  Mason

When I get home, Ava is waiting on my bed. She jumps into my arms as soon as I walk in the door.

"Guess what I did today?" She immediately says. She's talking more in the last week or so but it's still usually only a few words here in there. It's pretty rare to get a full sentence from her. I kiss her nose because it's just so damn cute and I've had to go all day without seeing it. I pretend to think

"Hmmmmmmm. Went for a drive with your mom?" I guess. Her arms are around my neck and my hands are on her waist, her body is pressed against mine.

"Better than that!" She shakes her head and grins at me.

"Really? Better than a drive? What? Tell me all about it." She laughs,

"I talked to my mom! And we went on a drive. And guess what else?" She says but continues without even taking a breath. "I went to a restaurant with my mom!!" My brows shoot up and I laugh, hugging her close.

"No way Ava! That's amazing! How did it go? Was it scary?" Ava pulls me over to the bed and down beside her. She's so happy and excited, bouncing up and down talking a mile a minute. Ava tells me all about her day, about having a bad dream, which I already knew about, then about her mom coming up and talking to her and telling her mom about it. She tells me about the drive and the restaurant and getting ice cream. I've never heard Ava talk this much or looks so happy and excited.

Ava and I have had some pretty hot kissing sessions, but we never go any further than that. I'm painfully aware of the fact that she's barely 15 and while I was fucking girls younger than that when I was younger than her it feels different with Ava. She seems younger, more vulnerable and I don't want her to feel as though I'm rushing her or pushing her. After she tells me about her day I shower and change clothes.

"What do you want to do until time for dinner," I ask Ava. She thinks a few minutes then grins at me.

"Wanna go explore the house?" She gives me this wicked smile that immediately makes me hard as fuck. "Explore the house" is code for find an empty room to make out in. We have had some intense make-out sessions interrupted by people walking in and if we keep making out in my room there's no chance in hell of us keeping our relationship a secret.

"Fuck yes!" I shout. Smooth Mason, real smooth, I think. Ava bursts out laughing. I yank her up and kiss her neck. That spot on the side where her neck and collar bone meet, I know it drives her freaking crazy. Her laugh turns to a moan and once I'm satisfied that I've made my point I drag her giggling from the room. We go upstairs and down hallways and up more stairs opening a few doors and peeking our heads in until we find the perfect spot. We find a room up on the fourth floor tucked away at the end of a long hallway it doesn't seem to have any particular use and basically looks like a place where random furniture is stuck. Nothing looks dirty or dusty though obviously it gets cleaned semi-regularly. I drag Ava over to a blood-red loveseat and pull her down next to me. I fist my hand in her hair and kiss her fast and hard, rubbing my tongue against hers. Her lips are so soft, and her tongue is wet and warm. She moans softly into my mouth and the sound is so fucking sexy I want to rip her clothes off and fuck her right there on the couch.

"Take your shirt off" she whispers hoarsely. I groan and yank my shirt over my head. Ava pulls her shirt off too. I nearly swallow my damn tongue. I've taken my shirt off for Ava a few times, but this is the first time she's ever taken hers off. I want to look at her, but I can't leave her mouth long enough. She tastes like cotton fucking candy. I've never tasted anything as good as Ava's mouth which makes me think if her mouth tastes this damn good, what the fuck would her pussy taste like. I moan and push that thought from my mind. I can already feel my cock leaking and I know I gotta slow things down. This girl is gonna kill me. I break the kiss because damn, I have to see her. She's wearing a little lacy pink bra. Her tits swell up over the edges and I can see the faintest hint of her nipples. Oh, my fuck. I kiss the swell of her breasts, flicking my tongue out to taste her skin. Ava moans and grinds down hard on my cock. I grab her hips and repeat the motion. Her head is thrown back and she’s panting hard. I'm being too rough I know I am, kissing, sucking and nibbling every bare inch of skin I can find. I want her nipples. I suck them through her bra.

"Oh my God Mason. Again" she moans. I do it again and again my hands slip under her skirt and I grip her ass. She's grinding on me so hard and I know Ava is right on the verge of coming. We have made out lots and each time we seem to go further and further but she's never come before.

"Take it off" I grind out and before the words are out of my mouth good, she yanks her bra off. I attack first one nipple licking and sucking it before turning to her other one and sucking it hard into my mouth. Her nipples and hard and pebbled and so damn pink. I've never seen anything so perfect.

"Mason!" I slip my hand around to the front of her panties. Fuck they are drenched. I rub my thumb over her clit and her whole-body shudders.

  "Mason!" she cries out again.

"Shhh, let it go baby" I moan. I'm thrusting my cock up against her wet pussy I swear I'm about to cum in my pants which I haven't done since I was 12 fucking years old and figured out what a wet pussy is for. "Cum for me" I pant. I don't even know if she knows what that means but I press her clit and rub it hard as I suck her nipple into my mouth and Ava fucking explodes. She gasps and lets out a little cry as her body trembles and she moans, I feel hot cum gush over my fingers. I don't even fucking try not to cum. I feel it explode out of me and soak my shorts. Ava collapses against me breathing and panting hard. It takes me a few minutes to even remember my damn name. Ava is pressing soft kisses on my chest. I lift her face and kiss her swollen, pink lips softly.

"Jesus Ava what have you done to me?" She smiles at me. She looks so fucking innocent and sweet but damn this girl is wild once you get her going.

"That was amazing Mason. I don't even know what that was, but I want to do it every day, like that should be our goal." She giggles softly.

"That's a great idea." I grin as I kiss the side of her nose. We sit there catching our breath with Ava sprawled on top of me and our hands just softly stroking before the alarm I set on my phone goes off.

"C'mon dinner in 15 minutes, let’s go try not to look like we have spent the last two hours making out" I laugh. We gather our clothes up and duck into the first bathroom we find to make ourselves presentable. Exactly 14 minutes later we slip into our chairs at the dining room table.

  Chapter 36

  Ava

I wake up in Mason's bed. His body is molded to my back and I'm lying on one arm with his other arm draped over me and his hand is on my stomach. Our legs are all tangled up. I feel so warm and safe. His alarm starts going off and I remember he set it early this morning so we could get up before everyone else after I had crawled in bed with him. The nightmare comes flooding back to me and I squeeze my eyes shut. I remember that's why I'm here in bed with Mason. I had woken up with my heart be
ating furiously. In my dream, I was being chased, chased through woods and down long, dark corridors, chased into white rooms that went on and on and on. No matter how hard or fast I ran I couldn't get away and I couldn't see what was chasing me. I grabbed my stuffed bunny and kitty and ran down the dark hallways, tripping over the stairs and into Mason’s room. He was still asleep when I dived under the covers.

"What's wrong Ava?" he asked alarmed.

"Bad dream" I mumbled into his chest.

"You want to tell me about it?" he asked me softly. I shook my head clinging to kitty and bunny, my heart beating wildly, and my face buried against him. He put his arms around me and started kissing my head and stroking my hair.

"You're ok now baby," Mason spoke softly to me until my heart slowly started returning to normal. "You wanna sleep in here tonight?" he asked after I had calmed down. I nodded "Can I?" He laughed a little.

"Sure baby, let me set an alarm though so we can get you back to your room before anyone else gets up ok?" It took a long time before I finally fell back to sleep.

Mason's alarm goes off again and this time he reaches under my pillow and grabs it turning it off. "This is nice I don't wanna get up" he mumbles against my shoulder.

  "Me either" I answer.

"I wish we could stay like this all day," he says.

"Me too" I answer again. Mason kisses the back of my head.

"One day we will be able to baby." I turn over to face him

  "You think so?" I ask.

"Hell fucking yes! You're it for me, Ava. We're forever." He kisses my nose, then my forehead. Then he licks my cheek and jumps out of bed laughing.

"Eeeewwwwww grosssss Mason!" I whisper yell and throw a pillow at him. The jerk just laughs and dodges it as he walks into the bathroom to take a shower.

While he's in the shower I slip back into my room. My bed is calling me, but I ignore it take care of Baby, I get her food and water, wash her face and put her in her litter box. She's finally big enough to use a litter box. I'll give her a bottle after Mason goes to school. Dr. Brinkley is coming over today and so is my teacher. Since I've started communicating, I'm expected to do a lot more school which I honestly don't even mind. I like learning. Dr. Brinkley is very strict with my education he says the more I use my mind for things other than reliving the past and avoiding the future the stronger and sharper my mind will be. So, he coordinates my education with my mom, my teacher, Miss. Amy, my art teacher Miss. Jillian and my new piano teacher Mr. Johannson. I took piano as a little girl but I remember surprisingly little of it. Mr. Johannson seems genuinely dismayed over how little I have retained from my previous lessons. He keeps insisting that playing the piano is like riding a bike you never forget. If that's true I'm pretty sure I shouldn't try riding a bike anytime soon. It's a pretty safe bet I wouldn't remember how anyway.

I get dressed in pale blue short overalls with a long-sleeved pink and white striped hoodie shirt underneath. I like these overalls because they have a bear face as the top and that's funny. I smile every time I see it. I put on pink and blue over the knee socks and braid my hair into two French braids on either side of my head. After tying pink and blue ribbons on the ends and putting on some lip gloss and a little bit of pink eye shadow, I'm ready to go. I never wear much makeup. I have lots and lots; I just have to be in the mood to wear it. I head downstairs to Mason's room, but he isn't there, so I go down to the kitchen. He's sitting at the bar eating a huge stack of pancakes. Erica and Anson are at the bar too. The twins run in right after me.

"Hey, Avie Mavie" Anson teases pulling one of my braids gently. I smile at him.

"Hey, Anson." I answer sticking my tongue out at him and giving him a hug.

"You look cute today," He says. "Your teacher coming over?" I nod my head.

"Yep and Dr. Brinkley too" He nods his head.

"Good luck" He grins at me as he takes a sip of his coffee. Since it's Friday tonight Anson has a game and the whole family is going. I'm even going to try to go too. I'm really worried about the crowds and noise. "You ready Erica?" he asks gathering up his bags and coffee and grabbing an apple on his way out.

"Yeah, bye Ava, bye Mason. Bye brats" she laughs running after Anson. I sit down by Mason and try to steal a bite of his pancakes. He snatches his plate away.

"Hey! Thief! Get your own!" He laughs holding his plate over his head. I laugh

"You're so greedy with your food" I pout up at him. He grins as he sets the plate in front of me. Mason leans over and whispers in my ear

"I'd kiss you goodbye but there are too many eyes around" straightening up he says "Your hair looks cute like that. See you later" as he walks out the door, he mimes a texting motion with his hand and winks at me. I'm still laughing when my mom walks in a few minutes later.

"You boys ready for school?" she asks. They answer with a chorus of yeses and yeahs. We have plenty of people that could drive the boys to school but, just like mom did with me and Anson, she likes doing it herself. She glances at her watch before asking me.

"Do you want to ride with Ava? Do you have time?" I shake my head no.

"I want to give Baby her bottle before everyone starts showing up." She smiles and kisses my head

"Ok see you later." The three of them leave and I finish eating before going upstairs to give the kitty her bottle.

An hour later Miss. Amy shows up. I'm already in the "school room" waiting for her. I like Miss. Amy; we are working on math. She wants to get me up to grade level in all my subjects but she's not rushing me. She says she would rather I really learn the information than just know it well enough to go the next level. We spend most of our time on Reading, Math, and Language. Most of my Science and History she assigns for me to work on alone. I have Art two days a week and piano lessons two days. Monday's and Wednesday’s, I have Art. Tuesday and Thursday I have piano. On Friday's Dr. Brinkley comes over. It's almost one before Miss. Amy leaves and I have an hour before Dr. Brinkley gets here so I go in the kitchen to get lunch. I spend lunch texting Mason, sometimes it works out where our breaks line up and we can text a lot, other days we barely get to text at all.

Dr. Brinkley shows up a little early, so we go ahead and get started.

"Ok Ava I think we should talk about your nightmares today," he says flipping open notebooks and getting out pens, pencils and his recorder.

"Ok" I answer suspiciously. He laughs

"C' mon Ava it won't be that bad. Can you tell me about one of them?" He prompts.

"Which one?" I ask. "I don't know. You choose. Which one do you want to tell me about?" Dr. Brinkley is great at the give a question for an answer game.

  "I don't know" I answer.

"How about whatever dream you had last?" I tell him about my nightmare last night, about being chased.

"Hmmmmm. When did you have this dream?" He asks as he makes a couple of notes on the paper.

"Last night" I answer. "Really? What were your feelings during the dream?" I manage not to roll my eyes but that seems like a pretty dumb question.

"I'm scared" I tell him. Obviously.

"Why do you think you dreamed of a forest." He asked.

  "I don't know" I answer.

"Don't you?" He counters. I don't answer and he makes another note. "Did you feel like you were running to something? Or running away from something." I think about it, trying to remember how I felt in the dream.

  "Away" I finally tell him.

"Do you think the places in your dream are significant?" He asks.

  "I don't know" I huff.

"You say you were being chased in a white room. Could you describe the room?" I shake my head. "You don't remember it?" Dr. Brinkley presses. I shake my head again. "Or you don't want to talk about it?" I look away, not meeting his eyes. "Ava, we both know the significance of the forest and the white room, don't we?" he says insistently. I shake my head again. "When are we going to talk about this?" He asks.

  "I don't know," I hiss angrily.

&nb
sp; "I can't force you to talk about things, Ava. But don’t you think I could better help you if you did?" I don't answer him.

"Ok if you don't want to talk about your dreams what do you want to talk about?" He sighs.

"I don't know." I feel bad for getting angry at him, but he knows I don't wanna talk about stuff like this.

"Are you brave Ava?" Dr. Brinkley asks me.

  "No" I whisper.

"I think you are brave" He replies.

  "Why?" I ask.

"You survived something horrible, at a very young age, something that many people couldn't survive. But you did. Plus look at the progress you have made, you are communicating, talking again, some people thought you would maybe never find the courage to talk again. Yet you did. You're a brave girl" I shake my head

"I'm scared all the time." I confess.

"Are you? What are you scared of?" He asks.

"Of my nightmares, of things changing. I'm scared I won't ever be normal, have a normal life or family." I tell him quietly.

"That's such a good, honest answer, Ava. Thank you." Dr. Brinkley smiles at me

"Do you think other people are afraid?" He asks me.

"Ya, I guess so." I shrug, I'd never really thought about that before.

"What do you think other people are afraid of?" He keeps pressing.

  "I don't know." I tell him, confused.

"Do you think other people have nightmares?" I nod. "Do you think other people are afraid that they won't have a family or worry that they are different?" I think about it.

"Yes, I think so." I tell him truthfully.

"So, it sounds like your fears are pretty normal to me, what do you think?" I smile a little. Dr Brinkley is pretty clever.

"Ya, I think your right." He winks at me.

"You have this idea in your head of what is normal and what's not normal. It seems to me it's all pretty normal, just different." I smile at him but don't say anything.

"So, Anson's game is tonight, isn't it? Are you still planning to go to that?" He asks.
