I feel blessed. I’m about to marry the man of my dreams, who is sexy and handsome and has the greatest body. Ever. He has the biggest... err... heart, and, well, the most beautiful hair, too. My family is healthy, and we’re all happy.
Reese smiles at me. “You are an absolute vision to behold, soon-to-be Mrs. Firestone. Luke will fall over when he sees you.” She winks a twinkling eye at me. “Are you ready?”
“I feel like I’ve been waiting for this day my whole life.” I laugh, and we turn to go downstairs in the hotel.
I wait outside the ballroom, and Reese retrieves my dad. When everybody gets seated, my dad comes out to stand by me so he can walk me down the aisle and give me away.
We link our arms, and he gives me a nudge. “Hey, I’m getting a lot of steps in today, and I plan on getting in a lot more when I’m tearing up the dance floor,” he jokes and holds up his wrist with his smartwatch on it. I chuckle.
“Nice one, Dad. ‘Tearing up the dance floor?’”
“Yeah, you know, Sally and I are gonna dance the night away,” he says with a sweet expression on his face.
Then it’s time. We step into the ballroom, and I look down the aisle to Luke. He is devilishly handsome, and I just want to run over to him and jump into his muscular arms, but with my track record... I take my time. The last thing I need is for my heel to catch in the lace of my train, and to trip. But even if I do, I know he’ll be there to catch me.
They’ve decorated the room where we’re getting married in ivory and peach. There are peach roses and white silk draped down the aisle ending where Luke is waiting for me. There are ten romantic, gold candles in hurricane glass vases around the perimeter where Luke stands, waiting for me.
My dad and I step down the aisle, and as I get closer to Luke, I smirk, because his hair looks better than mine. We smile at each other, and my heart pounds in excitement as we start the next chapter in our lives. Together, as lovers, and as best friends, too. It’s an ongoing joke between the two of us now, about how we attempted to be just friends.
When I arrive at the altar and stand next to Luke, my dad lets go of my arm and takes his seat next to Sally. Reese stands next to me as my Maid-of-Honor, and Jeremy’s dad is Luke’s best man.
Luke and I gaze at each other, our eyes full of everything lusty and love, passionate and sweet. And we’re both getting hot anticipating the night to come.
We exchange our vows, and just as we are about to kiss... all the candles blow out at once.
Luke and I look at each other, our eyes wide, and we gasp, “Faith!”
The End.
