Looking at the scene, one could see a gigantic figure hoisting a humongous battle axe with its two muscular arms each thicker than most of the already large trees. The creature lifted its head causing its wet hair to sway behind it, as it looked towards the young man who was running away at full speed.

“Damn! How can this little human be so fast? If he is already this capable during the ‘adaption phase,’ what’s going to happen when he crosses the final hour?” said Orckusfiend in an annoyed tone, as he thought of what would happen later, he couldn’t help but grow a sense of fear.

Instantly, his killing intent reached its peak, he pressed his feet against the hard ground of this crater and leaped towards sky causing ripples in the crater half filled with water.

“Human, you better give up any ideas of escaping!” The Orckusfiend roared as his figure blurred through the air while rapidly pursuing the red-haired young man.

“Damn! If this continues, I’ll be caught sooner or later, based on the fluctuations alone from that big guy I can feel the strength of early True Foundation realm, as those slender creatures are giving off a similar sensation to that of 4th Tier Aura Disciples. If this big guy's speed wasn't limited because of his body size and these strange grasses with the obstructive terrain wasn’t hindering these fearful creatures, I would have been caught ages ago. I have to quickly find a way to escape!” thought Feng Yu, as he sensed danger quickly approaching.

Without turning his head, he could tell those strange creatures were almost about to catch up with him, and due to his inability to properly call upon his bodies essence energy he could only grit his teeth and relied on his pure mortal body to perform complex movement techniques.

“Wait! That’s not right…” said Feng Yu, who noticed something strange upon once again trying to call upon the essence-energies within his body. A strange force was trying to convert his energies into something unknown, as this force was at work the essence channels that had seemingly been clogged due to his lightning energy’s backlash was being restricted by the same force.

  “What the hell is---?”

As Feng Yu was about to complain once again, he was interrupted by something else.

  Swoosh-Swoosh-Swoosh-Swoosh!

The sound of a spinning object resounded throughout the bleak forest. Soon, a massive vortex of water could be seen moving towards Feng Yu at alarming speeds. Looking closely, you would notice that a terrifyingly large battle axe was currently spinning at the center of this vortex, its blade edge gleaming with a sharp baleful light even in this dark weather.

“Oh shit! I cannot get hit by that or I’m done for!” shouted Feng Yu as he somersaulted into the air after leaping off a nearby tree branch in a skillful manner. He then pulled out both Crimson Ember and Black Lighting placing them in a cross position before his chest, as he merged his entire consciousness with both swords.

Shing! A sharp sword potential was beginning to form around his body, however, it was still not at the stage to be called Sword Intent, Feng Yu had unknowingly managed to call upon the powers of Half-Step Sword Intent.

The vortex reached Feng Yu almost instantly, as the raging waves of the water vortex caused by the force of the spinning axe quickly pulled in his form, dragging him towards its depths to be minced to pieces by the massive rotating axe.

“Haha! Human, how do you like my Raging Axe Vortex? Humph! That’s what you deserve, daring to enter the 'Gloomy Forest' was your greatest mistake. Once I take your flesh and blood, I will offer it to the Zone Commander and receive a bountiful reward!” said the Orckusfiend in an excited manner, as his eyes shone in a brutal light upon seeing Feng Yu falling into the vortex.

Feng Yu was currently putting all of his attention into surviving his current predicament. As his figure grew closer and closer to the revolving axe, a sensation of imminent death soon began shroud Feng Yu’s entire being.

Swoosh! Soon, the vortex managed to pull Feng Yu into its core in front of the large battle axe. As if it had been waiting for a long time, the rotating battle axe then gleamed in a dazzling light as its blade edge cut towards Feng Yu’s upper torso, ready to cut him in half…

  Time slowed down…

Instantly, Feng Yu’s eyes started to radiate with a sharp potential as his soulforce carefully scanned the vortex seeking a weak point, whether it was luck or fate, a small unstable section of the vortex appeared with his sights. Not wasting any time, he stabbed both of his swords with all his might instinctively using the power of his half-step sword intent to the extreme.

Shi-----ng! The cry of the sword echoed throughout this section of the Gloomy Forest, as no flashy essence power erupted forth due to his current state of not being able to call upon his essence power. Instead, a semi-transparent sharp beam of light cut towards the vortex’s weak point, which soon after vanished towards the depths of the forest.

  Time one more continued…

Bang! With the sound of a loud boom the rainwater vortex exploded creating a shock wave that pushed away all of the rain within the vicinity, temporary creating a dome effect in this section of the forest for almost a minute.

A few of the nearby Ghoulfiends were blown away and collided with a few of the dead trees, as the battle axe that was at the center of the vortex fell harshly onto the ground creating a deep trench. In actual time it only took a short moment.

Sou-Sou-Sou! Quickly, a few of the Ghoulfiends surrounded the massive battle axe with a look of confusion on their faces. However, the Orckusfiend’s voice soon sounded, waking them from the dazed state, “What the hell are you doing?! Quickly chase after the human, we cannot let it get away!”

Shortly after its voice sounded, the Orckusfiend then fell onto the ground creating another crater as it swiftly collected its battle axe and leaped towards the direction the beam of sword light vanished. The Ghoulfiends promptly followed turning into blurs as they struggled to make their way through the Gloomy Forest’s harsh terrain, shortly after their figures vanished once more into the depths of the forest.

The time was now that of the afternoon, and the sky as dark as ever.

While the rain continued to fall, a group of humanoid figures could be seen slowly and carefully walking about in a somewhat organized manner. They carefully branched out and searched the underbrushes and tall grasses within the region leaving no stone unturned.

  Drip! Drip! Drip!

Inside of an abandon cave, a figure sat in silence as droplets of water dripped onto the floor from the rocky but wet ceiling.

“Sigh, that was a very close call. I have absolutely no idea how I got this far…” said Feng Yu as he looked outside of the hardly visible entrance of the cave.

The sound of rough footsteps could be heard as the large group that was carefully searching the area was approaching his vicinity.

“Damn! Damn! Damn! How could I let this human get away? Damnit! A rare human sighting in this Endless Rain Zone... how could I let this happen?!” said the rough loud voice.

“Human you better not let me find you, or you’d be begging me to let you die quickly!” said the loud voice, as the heavy footsteps left towards a distant place followed by many lighter and swifter footsteps.

As Feng Yu heard his words, he couldn’t help but frown as he thought to himself, “First, he said the Gloomy Forest, now he says that this place is the Endless Rain Zone? This is still not enough, I still need don’t know anything, where the hell am I?”

Feng Yu was annoyed and exhausted at the same time, he was about to lose his wits ends due to his current circumstances. However, as soon as he finished his statement there was a sudden change…

  Pi---ng!

  “Scanning subject… scan complete!”

“Welcome to the Ancient Dragon Battlefield!”

“Candidate Class: True Chosen – Feng Yu…”

  “Strength Level: F++ Class | Bloodline: Unknown…”

“Race: Humanity | Force Energy: Uncommon Fire-L
ightning Type …”

  “Talent – Half-Paragon Class…”

“Location: ADB - Central Regions, Endless Rain Zone, Gloomy Forest…”

  “Survivability Assessment: 5%”

Seeing the large stream of information that popped up in his mind, Feng Yu couldn’t help but feel a wave of shock. He carefully inspected the data ignoring everything else as he only looked at one section, seeing this data he exclaimed, “Not good! You’re telling me I was sent to Central Region alone!”

His voice echoed throughout the cave, soon fading away to the sound of endlessly rain.

  Chapter 79

An Unknown Party? The Alarmed Zone Commanders!

The Ancient Dragon Battlefield... a very unusual realm situated within an enclosed space for many eons. It is a very strange world filled with the thick scent of death that lingered at every corner, this realm was separated into an assortment of layers each of which was categorized by their degree of hazards. These layers are:

The Outer Regions, the Interior Regions, and the Central Regions...

Within each region were a group of occupied territories called 'Zones,' these Zones were each under the leadership of a very powerful fiendkin who typically had a powerful troop of fiends under their command. They are known as 'Zone Commanders,' each having a specialty or unique trait of their own making them very terrifying opponents to face not only in one to one battle but also on the battlefield.

However, apart from these zones within each of the layers, there were also a few mysterious and unusual places with secrets of their own...

  ******

  Area unknown, Zone unknown…

The sky looked bright as a graceful golden light shone across the horizon, dying the world with its hue.

Blanketed by these rays of light, was a seemingly endless mountain range. A divine place filled with an array of unusual sightings along with a myriad of wonderous constructs crafted by nature. These mountains were unusual as they floated in mid-air, they gave off a holy aura the kind that would only be found in at divine light sects, as complex carvings could also be seen engraved on their surface.

Looking at the surroundings, one would see that amidst this sea of unusual mountains were floating land masses, each of them being hundreds of thousands of kilometers wide. They were connected to each other by rays of light between the seas of floating mountains falling on top of a profound looking formation on a section of each of their lands.

If one looked below these land masses, they would see a wide clear lake that spanned across the entire horizon. This lake was strange, despite being clear its depths could not be seen. Instead, only a few clusters of sparkling lights could be seen shining brightly ever so often.

Standing proudly on the surface of these lands was an assortment of different buildings, each constructed with a unique style. These buildings were built like towers, each being at a height no lower than a hundred feet. A collection of circular rings surrounded these tower-like buildings each giving off an odd pulsation of energies sending ripples throughout the land.

One can see troops of well-equipped humanoid and non-humanoid forms each giving off a dense baleful aura, they stood in well-trained formations around tower-like buildings positioned at the core of these landmasses. At the central location of each of these floating mountains and lands, was an even larger floating landmass that spanned a width of no less than one million kilometers.

However, unlike its successors, this massive land mass did not have any glorious looking troops and many buildings. Instead, positioned at its core was only a single palace with towers that stretched to limits of this realm's sky, seated in front of this tower was an unknown being that was almost as big as the land itself. It was equipped with special armor and sat calmly as it looked towards the brilliant light shining from the distant horizon, a clear light in its eyes as if it could see the end of the world...

Inside of the central tower, within a very large and spacious room.

A beautiful figure of a woman could be seen seated on top of a large golden throne, there are no words that could do justice to her beauty. It was a pity, however, for this unparalleled woman currently had a sad expression her face, as she looked towards the massive window at the edge of the room gazing at the same location as the being outside the tower.

Below the beauty was a group of powerful looking individuals bowing their heads in silence waiting for her orders.

"So, once again it has begun. Sigh, how much long must I continue to wait for these cycles to finish? How long must I, drown in this sea of endless remorse?" Thought the beautiful figure, as her eyes glowed with a sad reminiscent light.

She quickly recovered from her melancholic mood and removed her gaze from the horizon, focusing on the group that remained silent before her. With a sharp and cold look on her face, her lips parted as she spoke, "Make the preparations, this era's trials will now commence!"

"By the Queen's will!" The group of individuals replied, as they then tap their feet onto the floor which created an odd pulsation for a short moment of time.

Swiii! With a flash of bright golden light, the figures then vanished as if they didn't exist, to begin with, the beautiful woman seeing this looked on indifferently for a short while before closing her eyes.

However, the very moment she closed her eyes her beautiful nose couldn't help but twitch slightly, with a puzzled expression she opened her eyes.

Sniff. Sniff. After taking two more whiffs, she knitted her brows as she looked towards a different location across this endless horizon and spoke softly, "How strange... this 'scent,' it's been too long since I've smelled this fragrance, but why? Why is the scent of a Dragonkin still in this world?"

As she spoke, her voice trailed off into the wind traveling across the endless horizon as if seeking the source of her concerns...

  ∞ ∞ ∞

Zap! The rumbling sound of thunder echoed throughout the world, as a dark looking palace stood aloof at the peak of a narrow mountain.

As the harsh rains continued to fall upon the lands, this palace remained steady, unphased by the stormy weather. If one looked closely, they would see a thin dome of water that covered the castle entirety. This water dome was almost invisible due to its thinness, however, despite this weak looking appearance, it was quite the force to be reckoned with.

"Kaaaaaaw!" Following a loud cry, a fierce bird unlike any known to man descended with full momentum towards this dark palace. It was a large dark crow with a purple crown on its head with a wingspan of 500 meters.

As they saw this crow descend, a look of surprise came over the face of the fiend guards. However, their looks of surprise soon became that of a sneer. Seeing their expressions, a ruthless purple light shone at the depths of crow's eyes, it promptly stretched its claws out towards the dark palace.

Swoosh! The harsh rain could not block these winds, as a fierce gale formed due to its rapid assault.

BOOM! The water-like dome quickly acted by forming a series of blue layers to resist the claws, as they both collided a loud explosion followed and then a shockwave that spread across the region for thousands of meters.

The harsh rain that fell upon the land was instantly calmed as the shockwave temporarily pushed aside the rain.

Swoosh--Bang! "Kaaaah!" The mournful cry of crow echoed throughout the region as it was blown away through the air, crashing into a distant mountain. It looked at the dark palace with a hateful but now cautious expression, as it flapped its injured wings and circled the mountain it crashed upon.

"Haha! When will the Sky Zone Commander learn that sending an Empyrean Dark Crow will not be enough to probe our barriers true strength? Tsk-tsk! A pity, if it had attacked the core, we'd be eating a new feast today," A strange looking blue-skinned humanoid creature said. He was dressed in full plated dark armor that had large spiky shoulder pads, while on his head he wore a blue helmet, which had two horns protruding from its sides.

Another similarly looking figure hearing his comrade's words also spoke, "Indeed. But it's not like we haven't had anything good to eat recently."

The previously speaking fiend guard replied, "Bah! Like I even give a damn about food. I'm booored! Guarding this place yields no merits and all those guys on the frontlines are there hogging away all those points."

"Quiet!" A voice said as if it controlled the forces in the world a heavy pressure soon fell upon the two guards.

"Leader, please forgive this one's indiscretion!" Both guards replied as they promptly kneeled to the ground and begged for forgiveness.

The guard leader hearing this frowned for a moment before waving his hand, as they saw this, the two guards quickly got up and returned to their stations. The guard leader then looked towards the palace behind him and spoke mockingly, "Hmph! These two fools only talk about opportunities but have no idea about how the battlefield truly is..."

As he said this, he couldn't help but shake his head as he continued to patrol the area.

Inside of the dark looking palace, within its central room.

In sharp contrast to its outside, the interior of this room was resplendent. A variety of large blue crystals surrounded the room, the walls were made of unknown refractive materials as a clean brilliant blue hue covered all corners of this room.

A group of scaly blue-skinned individuals wearing various types of powerful looking equipment stood calmly around a large ball of water. This ball was strange as it acted as if it had a life of its own, rotating in a clockwise manner as it would occasionally release a few orbs of water. These orbs would then travel to the ears of everyone where after transforming into faces that whispered to the ears.

After these faces made of water finished their words, they then travelled back to the water ball and merged with its whole. The seated individuals now looked at each other with a variety of expressions, a few had looks of excitement while a few others revealed calm, pensive expressions.
