Chuckling, I got out of the car.
We moved into the house, tugging and tearing at each other’s clothes, leaving a trail of costuming behind us.
She kissed me hungrily, standing in my bedroom in nothing but her bra and panties. “Let me clean my face. I don’t want to do this in Freddy Krueger makeup.”
I didn’t care what she looked like, as long as I got to keep her naked for a while. “Take your time. Just know when you get back in here, you’re all mine.”
She smirked at me and unhooked her bra, dropping it to the floor before she slid her panties down her legs. “Maybe I’ll make you all mine.”
A moment later, she came back out, clean-faced and completely nude.
I let out a groan as I got up and pinned her against the doorframe and kissed her hard.
“Get on the bed.”
Angela bit her lip coyly before she followed my command.
I watched her for a moment, watched her get comfortable, before I climbed onto the bed with her. I straddled her and leaned down for a brief kiss. “I know you’re not a fan of masks, but how do you feel about blindfolds?”
She noticeably swallowed but didn’t try to move, her eyes watching me with heated interested and a little apprehension. “A blindfold? Colton… What exactly did you have in mind?”
I leaned over and pulled a blindfold and a silk scarf out of the nightstand. “Do you trust me?”
“Completely.” She glanced up at the headboard above her before she lifted her arms up, just within reach of the bars.
I carefully looped the scarf around her wrists. “You can pull free at any time. But I want your hands up here.”
She nodded. “I trust you, Colton.”
I carefully slipped the blindfold over her head, pressing a feather-light kiss to her lips as I secured it over her eyes.
Leaning back from her, I skimmed my fingers down her body. “Where to start?” I traced my fingertips over her breasts, making her arch up as I teased her with light touches.
Angela moaned, and I nearly lost it. I wanted to drag this out, to tease and touch until she came apart in my hands. But having her here like this, naked, completely at my mercy, all I wanted was to be buried deep inside her.
“Colton…” She whimpered out my name as I leaned down and pressed a kiss to one pert nipple, then the other.
I slid my fingers between her thighs and groaned as I swirled my tongue over her nipple. She was already so wet, so responsive, and I’d barely gotten started.
I shoved my boxer briefs off and kicked them onto the floor, shifting so I could slide my cock between her wet folds.
She arched up again, pressing toward me, wanting more.
And I was more than happy to give it to her.
I positioned my tip at her core, bending to kiss her again hungrily as I slowly pushed into her.
Angela gripped the silk around her wrists but didn’t make any effort to pull free. Her lips parted, giving me access to thrust my tongue into her mouth as I filled her soft, wet pussy.
I groaned into her mouth as she took all of me.
With my cock buried deep, I reached up and pulled off the blindfold. She might’ve been okay with it, but I realized I wasn’t. At least not this time.
This time, I wanted her watching me. I wanted every last bit of connection I could have with her.
Her brown eyes blinked as they were exposed to the light again, and she looked up at me with a slight head tilt. “Everything okay?” The huskiness in her voice, the need there, just turned me on more.
“I want to see you. I want to watch you come undone.” I rotated my hips before I slid halfway out, just to thrust in again. “I don’t ever want to hide myself from you.”
She rocked her hips, her legs sliding up to hook around my waist. “You’re mine, Colton Black.”
I slipped her hands free, pulling her up against me so she was straddling my waist, our bodies pressed together from pelvis to chest. I kissed her squarely on the lips and then angled her head. I deepened the kiss, sliding my tongue along hers, probing and tasting as much as I could.
Angela kissed me back just as fervently, her hips rocking back and forth on mine. The way she clung to me, the way she held me, made me think she was falling as fast, as hard as I was.
When she broke our kiss, she tangled her fingers in my hair and she looked into my eyes as her hips rocked faster. “Make me come, Colton.”
I slid my hand between us, rubbing her clit as she rode me, thrusting up to match her pace.
As she threw her head back and moaned my name, her pussy tightening and squeezing around me, I came right along with her, filling her deep as I emptied into her. I kept thrusting as she rode out her climax, wanting to draw it out, wanting to wring out every last drop I could.
As we started to come down, I laid down with her, holding her against me, even as I slipped from her.
“Angela?”
She looked up at me, her eyes drooping a little from the exertion. “Yeah?”
“I love you. More than Halloween.”
She chuckled softly and pressed her lips to mine. “I love you, Colton.” She ran her hands up my shoulders, and then up to my neck. “Enough I might even tolerate Halloween. One month a year. But if we could make it like a week, two at the most, it would be helpful.”
I held her until we had to get ready for the haunted house.
“What am I going to wear?” She looked at the trail of clothes, the ripped Freddy sweater.
I headed to the closet and pulled out the other costume I bought today—a black, lacy dress, with a long cape and a pointed hat. “How do you feel about being a witch?”
She smiled, shaking her head as she let out a laugh. “Of course, you bought me another costume.”
We got dressed: Angela in her witch’s costume, me dressed as a dark warlock, and then I led her down through the haunted house, to where I had a huge cauldron filled with full-sized candy bars.
“You ready for this? It’s going to be a lot of creepy sounds, a lot of masks…”
She pursed her lips and reached for my hand. “As long as you’re going to be here with me.”
The first round of kids came through, and I watched Angela carefully as the shrieks, the growls, and the cackles filtered toward us.
But she held her ground. And looked perfect as she stood by my side, offering candy to every kid who came through.
By the time the night was done, I had no doubt she had better memories of Halloween. And, I hoped, I’d get to make her smile every Halloween for years to come.
Epilogue
Angela
One year later…
“Are you ready? People will be showing up soon.” Colton’s arms slid around me from behind as he kissed along my neck.
“Not if you keep kissing me like that. If you keep that up, I’m just going to want to drag you back upstairs.”
He chuckled and pulled back, stepping around so I could see him in all his costumed glory. The theme we came up with for this year’s masquerade was “Unpleasantville – a Town of Monsters”—and Colton pulled it off perfectly. He was dressed like James Dean, but instead of the classic 1950’s hair, he’d gone for werewolf ears and shaggy mutton chops.
Which perfectly complemented the makeup he’d done for me as I walked around in my poodle skirt and saddle shoes. We looked like a perfect, Pleasantville couple—if Pleasantville was inhabited by the wolfman and his girlfriend.
I never thought I’d be turned on by a man in werewolf hair. But Colton had a direct line on my libido, no matter how he was dressed.
The mansion was decorated to the nines for Halloween, and the ballroom looked perfect for the masquerade.
We’d decided early on that with all the work he was putting into the party, and all the work he wanted to put into the haunted house, it just made more sense we’d host the party at the house.
Our house.
I was still getting used to the fact that we lived together. And that
I didn’t hate coming home to a skeleton infested house all of October.
“You have to keep it in your poodle skirt until our guests are gone.” He smacked my ass and grinned. “But I have to say, you make me want to howl at the moon, Angela Bartell.”
I laughed and headed to the hall bathroom, to put on the finishing touch for the costume—a pair of amber colored contacts would top off the wolfy look.
“We’ll howl all night long.”
Townspeople started showing up.
Kids and adults alike roamed through the haunted backyard, and the sock hop was constantly full of monsters.
But the whole night, I only had eyes for Colton.
As the party reached its busiest, Tru came over, dressed as a zombie cheerleader with her blonde hair in curly pigtails. “I tell you what, Mayor Bartell, I think you outdid last year’s party. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for next year.”
I laughed. “Most of this is Colton. He’s got this huge imagination for all this stuff.” I looked around, but he’d disappeared. “You’d tell me if you planned another flash mob, right?”
She shrugged. “Maybe.”
I looked around again warily. “Tru…”
“No, we didn’t plan another flash mob. But that doesn’t mean Colton doesn’t have some other surprise up his sleeve. You know how he gets about all this stuff.”
Oh, I did. Jump scares, masks, and fake blood was part of our relationship. But at least I’d gotten pretty good at predicting when he was going to do something scary. And I’d even managed to get the drop on him a time or two.
Micah came over, dressed as Frankenstein. “Excuse me, Mayor Bartell? Will you go through the haunted house with me?”
Micah had sort of become a fixture in our world. Colton still worked with him once a week at the school, but he stopped by often, just to watch horror movies, work on projects with Colton, or sometimes to hang out.
I didn’t mind at all. He was a good kid, and Colton was a source of stability in his life. And, watching him with Micah just made me want to see Colton with a kid of our own.
“Sure, Micah. Tru, I’ll see you later, okay?”
She nodded, and I let Micah lead me into the haunted house.
I’d been through it several times with Colton, with the sun high in the sky and my man’s strong arm to lean on.
But at night, it still creeped me out.
“Don’t worry, Mayor Bartell. I’ll keep you safe.” He grinned up at me, his braces glinting in the moonlight.
“There’s no one I’d trust more.” I grinned, and we started walking through the labyrinth of our backyard.
It never failed. Even though I knew where everything was, and I knew nothing back there could hurt me, I still jumped every time something came out at us.
And every time, Micah giggled like it was the funniest thing he’d ever seen.
As we neared the spot Colton set up the trick or treat cauldron, Micah ran forward, out of sight.
Leaving me all alone.
“Are you scared, Mayor?” The disembodied voice sent chills down my spine.
I looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. This wasn’t part of the display, as far as I could remember.
And then, Colton stepped out from behind a tree.
“You know, you’re kind of an ass sometimes.”
He chuckled and stepped forward. Just before he reached me, he stopped.
“Angela, this past year has been one of the best years in my life. Because I got to share it with you. And as much as I love living with you, as much as I love getting to call you mine, it’s not enough.”
I frowned, brow furrowed. What was he trying to say? Oh god, was he sick of me?
When he dropped down on one knee, I didn’t have to question anymore.
“I haven’t had anyone as my family in a long time. But I know, without a shadow of a doubt, I want you as my wife.” He pulled out a small velvet box and popped it open, revealing a white gold band with a teardrop shaped ruby surrounded by diamonds. It almost looked like a little drop of blood.
I bit my lip, reaching for his hand. “Colton… There’s something I have to tell you.”
He stood, pulling me into his arms as panic crossed his face. “I’m not letting you go.”
I laughed and took the ring box from him. “You don’t have to. But you do have to make room for more than one new family member in your life.” I slipped on the ring before I took his hand and pressed it to my belly. “We’re going to have to be a family of three.”
“You’re pregnant? How?” He gasped, staring at where my hand overlapped his. “A baby…”
“Our baby.” I grinned and pressed a light kiss to his lips. “And I think you’re fully aware of the how. But if you’re confused, I’m sure I could give you a refresher course after the party’s over.” I winked at him and pulled out of his arms. “You think you can handle it? Becoming a father and a fiancé all in one breath?”
Colton smirked at me and grabbed my left hand, kissing the knuckle just above where his ring sat. “I just have one question.” He paused a moment, and then asked, “What sort of costume does that entail?”
As he grabbed me and picked me up, spinning around under the moonlight, I laughed and said, “Whatever costume you want it to be. As long as it doesn’t come with a mask.”
He lowered me back to my feet and his hands slid over the curve of my ass. “Maybe just a blindfold?” He winked at me and kissed my cheek. “Come on. We should get back to the party. Because the sooner we can kick all these people out, the sooner I can strip you out of this sexy poodle skirt and make you scream.”
I groaned. “We could just sneak upstairs. No one would blame us. A newly engaged couple, with their first baby on their way…”
“Not until we’ve properly sock hopped the night away.” He grinned and smacked my ass, nudging me toward the gate. “Get inside. I’m not letting you freeze out here. You’re carrying precious cargo.”
I couldn’t pretend the masks and paint hiding people’s faces didn’t bother me anymore.
But the longer I spent with Colton, the more I was getting used to them. And, as I danced with my fiancé, twirling around a room full of hidden faces and secret identities, I knew, in his arms, I was safe.
And our little one would be too.
It was after one before the party wound down and people started heading on home.
Tru was still hanging around. “I can stay, help clean up.”
“We’ve got a crew coming in the morning. Go home. We both know you’d rather spend the night with you beau, than help me clean up. I’ll see you on Monday.”
She gave me a quick hug and was halfway out the door before she turned and said, “Don’t think we’re not talking about that rock on your finger over coffee and donuts. I’ll pick up a fine assortment from Cherry.”
I rubbed my thumb over the ruby as Colton followed her out and locked up the house behind her.
“Finally, I have you all to myself. I’m going to make you howl and scream.”
I grinned and ran past him, up the stairs toward our bedroom.
I could hear Colton right behind me, his heavy footfalls chasing me. And when he caught me, he pressed me against the wall and kissed me hard, pushing my skirts up out of the way as his fingers slid under my panties.
In a breath, he had me out of my underwear, his cock free of his jeans, and he thrust into me hard, pinning me against the wall with rough, needy strokes.
I wrapped my leg up around his waist, crying out as he ripped the front of my cardigan open, sending buttons flying all down the hall. He sealed his mouth around one pert nipple, sucking on it through the thin silk of my bra.
“Bed, Colton. I want you naked. I want to see all of you, as you fuck me until I scream.”
He pulled from me, making us both groan in protest as he nudged me into the bedroom and closed the door behind me.
I screamed all Halloween night long
not in fear, but in complete and utter pleasure.
When we collapsed in a heap of sweaty limbs and tangled sheets around dawn, Colton pulled me against him and entwined his fingers with mine, looking up at the red stone in the early light.
“I love you, Mayor Black.”
Even though it wasn’t quite official yet, I had to admit, I liked the sound of that.

Dear Reader,
I hope you loved this Halloween Romance!
Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I couldn’t wait to come up with a fun romance for it. I love the costumes, decorating the house, getting to see all the neighbor kids dressed up. If I had the space, the time, and the money, I would totally put on epic haunted houses in my back yard.
Lauren’s also a big fan of Halloween too, but she’s a self-professed chicken baby, especially when it comes to creepy masks. There were times through this process where she decided wholeheartedly that Angela was her spirit animal.
But as much as she claims to be scared, when I volunteered to go first into the unknown in a haunted house, her hand shot up right next to mine—there was no way she was going to let me get murdered in the creepy clown room alone.
And in return, when I realized it was clowns, I told her to close her eyes and led her through it to the safety of the other side.
If Angela’s her spirit animal, then sometimes Colton is mine.
I had a lot of fun creating spooky scenarios to put Angela and Colton through as they bonded and fell in love. And, as part of the writing process, I spent a lot of time watching horror movies and TV shows and listening to Halloween inspired music (everything from horror movie soundtracks to Purple People Eater, on a weird, random shuffle…). It definitely made for an interesting creative ambiance.
