  Author's Note

  (Revisiting My Nemesis)

Thank you for finding your way to my story. This novella follows Logan's path, or a part of it. Although it can be taken by itself, it works much better when it is read in its place. This story fits exactly between The Gates of Golorath and Angels of Perdition. At the end of Gates, Logan departs through the Vale of Sorrows. Near the beginning of Angels, he returns through the breach. This is the story of what happened in between those two events; hopefully, it will shed some light on his actions in Angels and beyond.

This one was difficult to write. For me that normally means the story is elusive and I need to chase it down. This was different. This was darker, more intense. I try to get into the character's head, to understand their thinking, to hear their voice. Logan was deeply depressed and suicidal. To do his story justice, I had to welcome and embrace those thoughts as though they were my own. I had to feel what he felt, and order my thoughts along his lines. Unfortunately, depression is my continual nemesis, and I have had to work through bouts on a fairly regular basis. Essentially, I invited in an old friend who is no good for me. Keeping his emotions separated from my own was often a nonstop battle with no end in sight, much like Logan before the Gate.

If this resonates, if it sounds familiar, remember it is okay to lean on the people around you. If you do not have a Pride to lean on, there are trained professionals to help. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, both the good and the bad. Pet the dog, go for a hike in the woods, naked Riverdance through the living room; do whatever brings you joy. It is, after all, your path. Just don't naked Riverdance through the woods.
