Wolf
I am a survivor, ex-military and now, I run with the Devil’s Advocate as a SSA. It my job to watch over my brothers and I take my job seriously.
Then I get a phone call from my past and my world is shattered. One of our own is hunting down the men in my old company and taking them out. One bullet at a time. This started over in the sandbox but now it has followed us here, followed me here.
I can’t let it take out my family, because that’s what the Advocates are, my family. Then I get a package hand delivered, and she’s trouble with a capital T.
I listened on a phone call as her dad was shot and his killer assured me I was next, me and the old man’s daughter. I can’t let that happen, I won’t let that happen.
Eija
When my dad came back from active duty he wasn’t the man I grew up with. Now twelve years later, I full grown and he doesn’t have to protect me anymore. But he says this is different, if the killer finds him he won’t stop until I’m dead too.
My dad sends me away. I don’t want to leave him but I have no choice. I’m shocked as hell that he sent me to his old buddy, Wolf. He and Wolf never really got along before. When I get there, he tells me he couldn’t stop the killer and now, we’re both targets.
I have to depend on someone I don’t know to protect me, I hate that idea. Wolf is so hard to read I don’t know where I stand with him, but when trouble comes for us, he’s right there. Now, it’s a battle of which will is stronger... His to protect or the killer’s to kill.
End of Beast Book #2
Every one of the Devil’s Advocates lined up along the fence line in respect for what was inside the area.
Beast picked her up and carried her the last few feet, so she could see what they had done.
There were four headstones all in a row. Two of them were double headstones and the other two were single headstones. Each one held the name of her family member. Edward and MS Katie were finally together again, as were her parents Elijah and Morgan. The other two had the names Ethan and Gabriel were also etched in stone.
It was a beautiful place and someone had even planted a weeping willow tree inside the fence. Eventually, it would grow and give shade to the resting places of her family.
Tears ran down her face and as she saw what they had done. She turned to look at Beast. “Thank you for this. It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
“I would give you the world if I could but at least we could do this for you.”
“Can we go back to the clubhouse?” she asked. “I have something for you guys too.”
Beast looked over at Jackal then back to her. “You don’t have to give us anything, you know that right?”
Cin smiled softly. “I do know that, but this is something I have to do.”
He shrugged then led the way back to the clubhouse as he carried her all the way in his huge arms.
When he put her down, she disappeared inside for a few moments. Coming back, she presented Jackal with an envelope.
He studied it for a moment then tore it open. Then he dropped is hands to his sides and just stared at her.
Noelle came over to stand next to him as he raised the paper up for her to see. As she read it, she placed her hands up to her mouth in shock.
“Are you sure you want this?” Jackal asked.
Cin nodded. “I am and I do. You made this place your home and for however long you live, it will be your home, no matter what.”
Jackal handed the paperwork to the Wolf who stood next to him. He read it then passed it along to the Cobra.
Wolf shook his head in surprise and passed it to Gunner.
Gunner passed it to Viper.
This went on for a few minutes as all the men there read what the paper said.
“What did you do?” Beast asked her.
“The property now belongs to the Devil’s Advocates,” she stated.
“You just gave the farm to the club?” he asked. “Why?”
“My grandfather came here with barely anything to call his own. He worked the land and built his empire with the help of his family. When their blood stained this ground, it didn’t feel like a home to me anymore. Your brothers took it back and made it a home again and now, I’m entrusting they will keep it. The land is a living thing, with care it will give back what effort you put into it. It laid dormant for so long and now, it finally has someone to care for it again.” She cupped his cheek. “I can’t take care of it but you guys can. I’m hoping I can live here with you and enjoy it again.”
“If you ever try to leave this place, I’ll follow you and drag you right back here,” Beast assured her.
Cin smiled and shook her head. “I didn’t hear the growl this time.”
He grinned as he straightened his wide shoulders. “Sometimes, I can be a gentle beast.”
She actually laughed louder.
Wolf and Cobra just snickered.
“You will always have a place here,” Jackal assured her.
Silas stood in the corner with George next to him. He just smiled. Fate had brought his little angel home again and he was just fine with that.
Chapter One
Wolf narrowed his eyes and studied at the men around him. They were all sitting in the main room and it was breakfast time. Most of the men had finished and were sitting, enjoying the last cup of coffee before they got busy with their day.
These men had come together after the military had deemed them unfit for duty, mostly due to fatigue or PTSD caused by what they had experienced in the service. War was never easy on anyone but these men and so many more offered to put their lives on the line to stand up for their country. Their country had forgotten about them when they came back and these men had come together for a common cause.
Returning to civilian life hadn’t been easy, so they banded together, and the MC had been born. This place offered them security and safety in numbers. Now they had the same brotherhood they had while serving in the military and for these guys that was important.
Things were good now since they’d put down the last threat from the members of the Dogs of Hell MC.
They also had Jackal and he was a tough as an MC Prez could get. He too, had been through hell, only he stood for honor and the good life. Yes, he had done some things he may not have talked about in his past, but he served well as the Advocates president.
He had cunning and knowledge on his side and his men were loyal to him. They would walk through hell with him and in fact they did when it all came down to who would be the MC to live here in this town. He had made the Advocates stronger. Wolf had been proud to serve with him and the brothers.
Jackal and Beast were now enjoying the freedom of having their own women and Wolf was just a little envious of them. He looked around the clubhouse. This sort of life might no
t be fitting for everyone but they loved it and it belonged to them. They had been here for eleven years already.... this was the place they called home.
Cin had made sure of that a few weeks ago. As Edward Shay’s last surviving heir, she had turned over the property and everything on it to the Devil’s Advocates MC. They were reluctant to take it from her but in the end, they had. They still had a lot to learn about the land and about her grandfather but this was a new beginning for them.
Some of the brothers wanted to build their own houses and start their own families. The few duplexes they had were already taken up by the married brothers of their club. This club had both, married and unmarried members. All of them were ex-military and each of them had skills they might not ever use again, but Uncle Sam thought they should learn them anyway.
Skills, they would use against their enemies. Skill they could only use against the people they were told were their enemies. They all learned those skills and some learned them all too well.
Wolf shuddered and brought himself back before he could remember an old nightmare. One of their own had taken the lessons they learned to a whole new level over in the desert. He became a killer, a self-imposed sniper going rouge and taking out who he thought needed to be dead.
It had been right after they were ambushed. Four brave men died in the sand, five were wounded and taken prisoner, and when they found the bodies, one had been missing. No one knew if he was actually dead, wounded, or just had walked away.
He and four others had spent two weeks being tortured by the enemy while another platoon, Jackal’s platoon had searched for them. When they found them, the five men expected to be executed but instead, they had been rescued.
That’s when Wolf and the remaining prisoners had been told they only found three of the four bodies of the men left in the sand. He and the others knew exactly which of the four had not been found.
His name was Adam Bateman. He was one of them that had learned his skills very well—the exception to the rule and he loved his job. His biggest problem was he knew he was the best. When a man got that cocky, he became a problem. He picked his own call name... Bullet. He claimed it was because you would never hear the Bullet with your name on it. But Wolf always thought it was because he never thought he’d catch his own Bullet. Adam thought he’d never get caught.
