I whimper when he tears his mouth from mine. “Don't ever leave me again,” he orders. “It nearly killed me,” he says.
“Don't tell me what to do. That never ends well. And never lie to me again,” I say.
He laughs. “Yes, baby. We have a deal.”
He kneels and takes my hand. My heart starts pounding, and my body floods with adrenaline.
“Callie Roberts, will you do me the honor of marrying me, please. I love you.”
“I do. I'll marry you. I love you, too,” I say, and happiness blooms inside me. It's the first time I've felt alive in the last two weeks.
His lips find mine again, and then he whispers in my ear. “I love you, baby.”
I grin. I never knew I could be so happy to hear those three little words.
Mr. Malone clears his throat. “You should go to the church, or you are going to be late. You don't want to keep all those people waiting.”
Hunter takes my hand and drags me toward the door. “Let’s get married, baby.”
Epilogue
Hunter
The sound of the Mediterranean Sea and the empty, cold bed awakens me. The room is warm and decorated in yellow and white tones and has a beach air about it.
“Callie? Where are you?” I call out. I lean against my pillows and put my hands behind my head. I feel happy and fulfilled like I’ve never been before. I'm the luckiest bastard on the planet.
Callie comes out of the bathroom wearing a strappy yellow dress and white sandals. “Wake up, sleepyhead,” she says. “I'm starving.”
I stare hungrily at her body. “I'm starving too,” I say.
She comes near the bed, and I grab her hand and pull her on top of me. I smell her hair and her womanly scent, and my hand covers her breast. Callie playfully hits my hand and laughs lightly. “If I knew I was going to marry a sexually obsessed person, I would have refused to marry you.”
She wiggles out of my arms and takes the sheet with her. She looks straight at my erection and blushes. It's charming that she is still so innocent. “How is it possible that you want more sex? I only slept a few hours after last night's marathon.”
The truth is, even I don't fully comprehend my permanent hunger for her. I shrug. “I love you so much that I can't get enough of you.”
Her eyes soften. “I love you too, but you have to feed me first. And I have something to tell you,” she says, and she tenses and tries to get up.
I pull her back into my arms and kiss her hair. “You can tell me anything, baby.”
She gets up and takes a deep breath. “Here it comes,” she jokes and opens her fist to reveal a pregnancy test. I rise onto my elbows and look up at her in shock.
“Hunter, are you okay with this? You know… the baby. We never talked about having children.”
I nod and smile. “Baby, I'm ecstatic about it. A little shocked, but happy.” I place my hand on her belly. “We’ve had a lot of sex in the last few days. Did we hurt the baby?”
She laughs and bends to kiss me. “No, Hunter, we didn't hurt the baby.” She sits on the bed.
“I'm glad. Even though we never talked about babies, I’m ecstatic that I'm going to be a father. But one is not enough, I want at least three babies.”
She smiles and shakes her head then strokes my erection.
“I thought you said you’re hungry,” I mock her.
She laughs. “Yeah, what can I do if I have a smooth talker for a husband? I love you so much, Hunter.”
“I love you, too, baby,” I groan.
The End.
