  “Is what he said true?”

“Every word he spoke was the absolute truth. Except he fudged a bit on the freaky as fuck golden wolf, I think he believes the wolf is cool. You don’t get a golden wolf, but if you will give me a chance I will give you all the love anyone could ever dream about. Please.”

“I don’t know Trevor, you are asking me to give up every friend I have here. Kate will stay in Marcus pack, Julie and Allison will stay in Alaska, I won’t have any friends there. I don’t want to be so alone again. I know you don’t understand but being alone with no friends is hard.”

“Oh sweetheart, you will have me, and I will be the best friend you could ever have. And you will make friends in my pack, when you bond your life to mine the entire pack will be your family. And Edward’s pack isn’t terribly far from mine, which by the way, is where your friend Julie will live. You see, I don’t guess anyone told you Julie’s mate is from Australia also? I guess Edward and I could try to get along a bit better for the sake of our mates. Maybe he won’t be so grouchy now that he has a mate.”

“Can I think about it? Moving so far away from everything I have ever known, well that is a big step. And I don’t feel the pull for you that you seem to feel for me. So you are asking me to move to another country with a complete stranger because one day that stranger will be important to me. That takes a lot of trust and I am almost dry in the trust department. I feel safe with you, but I have felt safe the entire time I have been here. Can you give me time?”

“Sweetheart. I will give you a lifetime if that is how long it takes. But I have another suggestion. What say we go visit your friend Kate for a few days, and then meet up with Edward and Julie and the others and travel back to Australia together. If you still ant time when we get there, well I am sure Edward’s pack would let you stay with Julie and I will court you as a man should court the woman he hopes to spend his life with. How does that sound?”

“Can we leave now? I really really want to see Kate and the golden wolf.”

Trevor laughed, “I don’t. The wolf only rises when she feels she is threatened. I don’t think you want to see the wolf rise. We could leave, the pilot has been waiting, but we are running close to dusk, he might want to wait until morning. I can ask. Stay right here, I will be right back.”

  Epilogue

“I thought the land would be different than this.”

“What did you think it would look like?”

“I don’t know, I guess I thought it would be barren and well, not so populated.”

“It will be when we get out in the rural parts. We have to stop and get them some clothes Edward. Are you sure you are going to be fine with me showing up in your territory every day to visit?”

Dawn giggled when Edward grumbled and turned to glare at her. She shrugged her shoulders. “He said I could choose. Don’t blame me, you guys shouldn’t make promises you don’t like just cause your wolf starts clawing at your insides. You males have got to learn to be stronger than your wolves. After all, the wretched curse you people have been talking about probably happened because some idiot male let his wolf make the decision and got the whole race in trouble. Don’t you think so Julie?”

Julie turned around from the front seat and shyly nodded her head. She still didn’t do much talking but at least Dawn was happy to see her responding. She had been surprised to find out Julie had a sister who was mated to a member of Edward’s pack and was moving with them. Between the two of them they should have Julie happy and outgoing in no time at all. And then she would move on to Trevor’s pack and see how much she could shake them up. Not enough females born because of a stupid curse? Well she would just have to make sure things changed. She didn’t know how, but if the females needed safety to have more females, well then clearly the fault rested with the males and their tendency to let the wolf take over. In her opinion that was the equivalent of thinking with the wrong head, in more ways than one.

Will the shifters find a way to break the curse?

Will Miranda find the shifters before they learn how to protect themselves?

Watch for Miranda and find out how it all began, and how it all may end.

  Author Notes

I want to say thank you to the readers who stuck with me through this, the fifth book of the series. I made a few tweaks when it came to putting Dracula and his Enforcers in the book. They have their own series, or rather their race does, but it hasn’t been completely written yet. Safe Haven Wolves has one more book for certain, and after that, well who knows. So many females out there left to save. Or maybe I should say, so few left out there.

Alice was a complete surprise to me. To tell you the truth I got a bit irate when she burst upon the scene. I had to research if her level of intelligence was possible in one so young. She wanted me to take her word for it but I refused. So much research went into that little girl and I didn’t even want her in the dang book. But if you think my characters listen to me you don’t really know them at all.

I had to kill off a few people in this book.

Tessa, who was killed for her car, is an author friend of mine who writes dystopian and apocalyptic books. I read one of her short stories and she left this massive cliffhanger at the end. I will admit she had already written the next book and the cliffhanger was resolved, but I had to kill her off for putting me through that to begin with. Shawn and Sam are two fellow moderators of one of the largest Indie author groups on FaceBook. I killed them off so I could use the words coddiwomple and kerfuffle while giving a nod in their direction for providing those words. By nod I mean I created their characters and immediately killed them off because, well, that is what we authors do to each other. I had another author I was going to create a character for, and kill off in a bloody, gore filled manner, but she sold me the cover she snatched from underneath my nose so, she got to live. And in return, I got a cover for what will probably be a new series next year. I can’t write it this year because the cover designer can’t fit me in the schedule till the end of the year for a series of covers. But that is ok, The Protectors of Alion will eventually get written.

Miranda will be out soon and The Deyarian Series is getting a relaunch at the same time. Exciting times ahead for my future books. I hope you enjoyed this book. If you did, be sure to leave a review on Amazon.

If you have a character you would love to read more about, let me know.
