He paused for only a minute, then parted my lips and slid himself slowly and deeply inside me. He pulled out and then plunged into me with his full length. The root of him kissed my wet core. He moved like a wave over my body, invading my senses. My hips rose to meet each thrust. Tingles radiated from my fingers to my toes and I knew I would cum again.
Raphael’s eyes never left mine. He watched as I rocked in time to his strokes, reaching new levels of desire. When he saw I was about to go over that edge, he captured my lips with his own. His mouth absorbing my cries of relief.
I grabbed him and tried to push him further into to me, as I quivered around his cock. He gave a primal guttural groan and I felt the warmth of his release fill me. I had never felt so complete.
Raphael, fell to the side, pulling my good hand to his, our fingers intertwining.
“Never leave me again, Brenna.”
“Never.”
I wouldn’t. The world could burn before I would ever leave Raphael’s side again. We were one. My heart finally knew what it felt like to be home.
Epilogue
BRENNA
I peeked with one eye at the gorgeous picture Raphael made, standing at the window, hair tousled, wearing only his robe. It had been several months since I had moved in with him and I still loved these little moments where I could secretly look at him, and revel in the fact that he had chosen me.
Raphael had refused to let me stay at my apartment. He thought it had been sullied by Bobby’s presence and insisted the best thing for both of us would be for me to move in. He didn’t have to try too hard to convince me. The idea of waking up in Raphael’s arms everyday sounded amazing. The reality was even better.
I must have sighed too loudly, as he turned to catch my stare. His face lit up as he looked at me. I would never tire of that reaction.
“You’re up.”
I stretched beneath the covers but didn’t get up. “I’m awake.”
He came to sit down next to me. “Are you seeing, Gran today? If so, I want to join you?”
How it was possible to fall deeper in love with someone who had already had your whole heart was beyond me, but it was.
“Of course. You know she loves when you visit.”
“I know she loves the treats I bring.”
“Well, you do have a way with women.”
He suddenly looked quite serious. “I only want my way with one woman.”
I sat up in the bed, holding the duvet to my chest.
“What’s wrong?”
Raphael shook his head. “It’s not what’s wrong, it’s what is right.”
He pulled something from the pocket of his robe. It was a ring. A gorgeous, solitary diamond ring, whose size and brilliance could likely be seen from space.
He held it out, letting it catch the morning sun.
“I have been waiting all morning.” He paused.
“No, I have been waiting my whole life for you. Brenna, I can’t breathe without you, nor do I want to. You have awakened my soul. In that first moment I saw you, I knew I had found the one.”
He briefly closed his eyes. “Ce Lui. It still took me by surprise, even though I knew I was destined to have you. Finding you was like discovering the missing piece of me. I was incomplete until your heart whispered back to mine. This love, this true love, is a gift beyond compare. And that is what you are, my love. A gift I will cherish to the end of my days. Even when there comes a time when we grace this earth no longer, then know that my soul will search the heavens to find yours.”
I couldn’t speak, I started to cry.
“Marry me, Brenna, let our forever start now.”
My heart soared at his words. “Yes! A million times, yes! You have made me believe in the impossible. There is nothing I want more than spending each day loving you, completely.”
“I’m not sure you will have the time with your attention divided.”
He slid the ring onto my finger and then gently kissed the palm of my hand.
His teasing words confused me. I stopped staring at my ring to meet his crinkled eyes.
“What do you mean,” I asked.
The sides of his mouth slowly curved upward into a surprised smile.
“Do you not know, my love?” He snuck his hand beneath the covers and placed it against the soft flesh of my stomach. “We will not be alone for long.”
My jaw dropped in a most unladylike fashion as I mentally began to count the days. It couldn’t be. Then I counted again. He was right!
“I…I had no idea.” Tears of joy sprang to my eyes. “How on earth did you know?”
He chuckled. “I knew immediately. There was an added softness to you. A glow that could not be explained any other way.”
I was beyond any happiness I had ever known. And it was all because of Raphael.
“Come to bed, Raphael. Love me.”
He shed his robe and slid his chiseled body between the sheets. His muscled chest against my back, his hand cupping the flesh that protected our child. It was then I knew contentment.
“Thank you, my love.” He whispered the words in my ear. “Thank you, for allowing our love to be carried on forever.”
