Taken: An Everyday Heroes World Novel (The Everyday Heroes World) Page 13

by M. A. Lee

Returning back to our living room, Todd handed me the phone. Glancing down I realized it was Brianna.

Ever since she found out I was pregnant, she insisted that I called her Aunt Brianna and called me daily-- sometimes hourly.

I rolled my eyes as I saw her name.

“What, you don’t want to answer the phone for the tenth time today?” Todd chuckled.

He sat down next to me and turned on SportsCenter. He had taken the day off so we could get the nursery ready, but in reality, we had spent the majority of the day being lazy on the couch.

I didn’t mind. It reminded me of when we had first met and how we would spend nights just sitting on the couch in his apartment. I missed those days and that apartment.

With the baby coming, we had both decided a house would be more appropriate for our growing family. So, there we were living in the suburbs.

“Do you think things will be different between us once the baby gets here?” I asked.

Turning to me, Todd looked at me like I had lost my mind.

“Ally, when will you learn that for me, my love only grows every day when we are together? Everyday things are different with us. To me, you have never been more beautiful than you are right now. And when you are holding our baby, you will be an amazing mother. And I will probably think I can’t love you anymore then. But, that will be a lie. Don’t ever worry about things being different with us. We will grow stronger together,” he said.

I felt heat rush to my cheeks. This man-- this amazingly incredible man next to me completely turned my life upside down. He proved that you could have love after loss. He was my everything and just like he said, everyday my love for him grew stronger.

Sighing, I placed my head on his shoulder. “I love you,” I said.

  “I love you, too. Forever.”
