“I told you she’s never allowed in my office without my say so,” he bellows. “You’re fired, get the fuck out and take her with you.”

I look to see who the her is and next to the receptionist, Beth—was that her name—stands a tall thin but shapely woman. She’s brown, but not as dark as me. She has a Latina look about her. She has on a tight white dress and nude heels. The outfit is completed with a pissed off expression.

“I’m not going anywhere until I talk to you. You won’t listen to Jemma, well now you can deal with me,” she says heatedly.

“Get the fuck out of my building, Magdalena,” Owen says with a deadly calm that hits harder than if he had yelled it.

I duck back to see his face. I can only see his profile as he scowls at the women at the door. A vein pops out the side of his forehead as one throbs in his neck. His grip on me tightens as he holds me closer. He is still inside me, so I remain still.

“Fuck you, Brick. Tell that whore to leave so we can take care of business,” Magdalena says.

Owen slips from my body and tugs up his pants in a flash. He fixes my skirt enough to cover me and then storms over to the stunned women at the door.

“What the fuck did you just call her?” he sneers into Magdalena’s face.

“What does it matter? You fuck them then leave them. Why is this one any different?” she replies and lifts her chin.

“This one is very different, Mags, so different that if you ever, and I mean, ever, disrespect her again, I will make your miserable existence even worse,” Owen says darkly.

Magdalena goes pale and takes a step back. Her gaze travels over me and she narrows her eyes in my direction. I fidget with my clothes, feeling embarrassed to have had them walk in on us.

“Oh please, how much worse can my life get, Brick?” she says as she keeps her eyes on me. A chill runs through me when she smirks in my direction. “After all, I did just walk in on my husband fucking another woman.”

What the fuck did she just say?

  Chapter 8

  Wrong Man

  Brick

I nearly vibrate out of my skin. If looks could kill, Magdalena would be dead on the spot. I look at the evil bitch as if I could burn her to a crisp right where she stands. I don’t even turn to look for Eva’s reaction. I can feel her and I’m ready to lose my shit right here and now.

“Eva, don’t you move, keep your ass right there. She’s my ex-wife and it’s a lot deeper than the shit rolling around in your head, baby. Don’t. Fucking. Move,” I growl out, still not turning to face Eva.

I look into Magdalena’s eyes and see the soulless bitch for who she is. “You were the biggest mistake of my life. I let you and that little vindictive, manipulative cousin of mine talk me into marrying you and I have regretted it every fucking day since.

“Whatever shit you’ve gotten yourself into now, it’s on you. I don’t give a shit and I’m not helping. You fuck with my woman, now you pay the price,” I say and fold my arms over my chest.

“Your woman,” Magdalena seethes. “She’s nothing but some little girl you’re chasing time away with. You haven’t known a woman since the last time we fucked.”

“Unbelievable,” I hear Eva breathe from the desk behind me.

I close my eyes and my nostrils flare. I can’t believe this shit is happening after the amazing sex I just had with Eva only moments ago. I open my eyes and address Beth first.

  “Why are you still here?”

“I… I… I, you’re really firing me?” Beth asks with a look of complete confusion on her face.

“I’ve never minced words around here, Beth. So, I’m having a hard time figuring out why you’re suddenly having such a hard time comprehending.”

Beth nods as tears fill her eyes. She looks at Magdalena as if she can offer some help or comfort. Magdalena looks at her in disgust and rolls her eyes. “You’re no good to me now,” Mags scoffs.

I tighten my jaw as I think of how long Beth has been helping my bitch of an ex-wife. It’s taking everything in me not to explode right here on the spot. I pull my cell from my pocket.

“I need security up here in my office. Beth Rogers is not to leave this building until Diggs gets here and talks to her,” I speak into the phone as I watch both Beth and Mags’ reaction. They both pale and look nervous.

Diggs works for an outside security firm I hire, and yes, he’s a Lost Soul. Both Beth and Magdalena have run across him before. He’s one scary sight. Gruff, huge, and tattooed, Diggs is just intimidating. He has a young face that matches his age, but the front of his hair is gray and adds something sinister to his aura.

There’s a squad within the Lost Souls who you just know not to fuck with. Diggs happens to be a part of that squad. Magdalena knows this to be a fact. Beth, I can tell, has assumed as much from the vibes that come off of Diggs when he has come by my office.

I shoot a text to him, so I can find out what has been going on behind my back. Magdalena looks like she’s contemplating running. She just can’t manage to pull her attention from the woman behind me long enough to try.

I know exactly where Eva is. My body is attuned to hers. I feel as she walks up behind me. I reach behind my back for her waist and pull her against me. She won’t be bolting around me for the door.

I smirk to myself when I hear her gasp for air as I pull her close. Her breasts crush against me and I swear my cock twitches for her. I don’t know if I will ever get enough of her.

I look over my shoulder. “I can explain it all. You’re not leaving this building without me,” I murmur to her.

She just looks up at me with her big brown eyes. I can see the sadness in them, and it tightens my chest. I shift to kiss her forehead but keep her pinned to my back.

“Learn to trust me,” I whisper.

She nods, but I see the mistrust written on her gorgeous face. I bite my lip in hopes to reel in my anger. Unfortunately, Mags has never learned when to shut the fuck up.

“Where’d you find this one? What makes her so special?” she says as if disgusted.

I snap my head back toward Mags, but to my surprise, I’m not the one who gets to respond. I’m stunned as Eva shoves me aside. She steps right into Magdalena’s face and points her finger.

“Let’s get one thing clear. I don’t give a fuck if you are his present or past wife. That’s between the two of you. What you’re not going to do is disrespect me, like I’m not in this room,” Eva fumes in Mags’ face. She moves in closer, still pointing.

“What I do know right now is that he belongs to me until you can prove otherwise. So far, you haven’t done shit that has. So, fuck with what’s mine and I’ll show you what’s so special about me,” Eva warns.

A smirk reaches my lips. I’m so turned on. Now that’s how you handle being my old lady. Hearing those words in my own head swells my chest with pride and want.

Not want for pussy, but a want I’ve never had before. Eva is fast becoming something I hadn’t even known I wanted. I lick my lips and close the space to wrap my arms around my woman’s waist. I pull her back into my chest and kiss the top of her head.

“What makes her so special is that she’s mine. Don’t test that, Mags. I mean that shit. Don’t come for my woman,” I confirm. “I’ve told you. I’m not helping you. We’re done.”

I watch as fire and fear ignite in Magdalena’s eyes. For the first time, I don’t think I’m the sole source of this fear. She has really gotten herself into some deep shit. I shouldn’t care, but my instincts cause me to pause for a moment.

Then my commonsense kicks back in, this is Mags. She and Jemma live to stir shit up. I’m not getting dragged into her manipulation. Not this time.

Eva may have stood up for her place as my woman, but I can still feel she’s questioning everything in her pretty little head. Straightening that shit out is more important to me at the present time. I need her to know she’s the only one who matters. I don’t give a shit what Magdalena has to say at
the moment, because with each second that passes, I can feel I’m losing my woman.

Eva is slipping right through my fingers, even as I hold her. I can’t have that. I tighten my hold on her waist. I’ve already made up my mind, the rest of this day is going to be run remotely.

I’m going home and taking Eva with me. We need to talk. I need to clear all of this up. Mags has the wrong man if she thinks she’s going to barge in here and demand shit from me.

“This isn’t over,” Magdalena says as she tears her eyes off of Eva to glare at me. “We will be talking, like it or not.”

Mags turns and storms from my office, leaving a stunned and nervous-looking Beth in her wake. I snort. Mags is right about one thing, this isn’t over. Once I have things cleared up with Eva, I’m going to get to the bottom of what Mags and that trifling cousin of mine have gotten themselves into this time.

As security enters my office to retrieve Beth, I loosen my hold on Eva. I turn her in my arms and look down at her. The disconnected look in her eyes flays my insides.

“Let’s get you cleaned up and I will explain.” I sigh and plant a soft kiss on her lips.

I nearly growl when she doesn’t return the kiss with even a small gesture of receiving my touch. I hold on to my restraint and place a hand on the small of her back. I know my cum has to be running down her legs. It’s the only thing that has me holding on to my sanity.

The simple fact that I know I’ve branded her as mine several times since last night. Despite the conversation I’m having in the back of my mind about whether or not Eva is on any type of birth control, I refuse to ask her because I will never enter her body with anything between us.

I have never slept with another woman without protection. Not even my ex-wife, for as long as I was bewitched by her. Eva is the first and I plan to make her the last.

I lead Eva over to the bookshelves in my office. I reach into the shelf where the hidden switch is and pop the lock with my thumb print. I make a mental note. I need to get Eva printed so she will have access to my hidden apartment over my office.

There are few who know of the hidden panel or my apartment. I look down at Eva, watching her reaction to me opening the hidden door. I smirk at the look of appreciation only an architect at heart could have.

I can’t wait for her to see the apartment itself. I know she’ll love it. I’m hoping to defuse some of her uncertainty with something I know she will appreciate.

  Fingers crossed, Mason.

  Eva

I’m burning with anger and most of it is anger toward myself. I can’t believe what just happened. Just after Brick said he belongs to me, his wife walks in on us having sex.

He says it’s not what I think, but I’m not sure I believe that. Now that the shock has worn off, I remember the woman he called Magdalena. She’s the Latina woman I’ve seen Brick with more than once.

She’s not like the other Barbies I’ve seen him bring around only once. No, I’ve seen her a few times before. I just never knew she was his wife.

I feel an ache in my chest as Owen leads me over to the bookshelves. I furrow my brows at first. I have no idea why we are going to the gorgeous shelving. He just said we were going to clean me up.

I kick myself mentally as our mixed essence rolls down my thighs. I feel stupid and cheap. The soreness between my legs earlier had felt like a delicious reminder of last night. Now, it just feels like the sting of my stupidity.

Once again, I’ve gotten myself into a mess. King is going to kill us both when he finds out. I don’t know what I was thinking.

My eyes widen and I’m pulled from my mental chastising. Owen sticks his hand in the bookshelf and a panel pops open. As the door widens a staircase comes into view.

I’m floored. The staircase leading up to the next level is made of glass. Each step is backlit by soft blue lighting that illuminates the landing.

Owen lightly nudges me forward with his hand on my back. I begin to climb the stairs one at a time on heels I’m already teetering on. I gasp as the stairs glow brighter with each step I take. I reach for the banister and make my way to the top.

If I was impressed with the staircase, I’m in awe of the apartment. From the breathtaking wall of floor to ceiling windows to the seemingly open floor plan that reveals a kitchen and living space.

I say seemingly because there actually are walls, they’re just made of panels of glass. I have to blink when I notice the glass has been fashioned to separate the space without actually looking like it’s there. It’s simply breathtaking.

“The glass is designed to frost over when privacy is desired in any one area. Each panel can frost into a range of four different colors,” Brick says close to my ear, reminding me he’s behind me.

  “It’s… wow, this is mind-blowing,” I murmur.

“I like a little variety in my space,” he says with a smile in his voice.

I turn to look at him. “Yeah, it seems you’re like that with more than your space.” I frown up at him. I didn’t mean for it to come out as bitchy as it does, but my feelings are still a little raw and confused.

I watch his jaw tic under his bearded skin. It’s like his green eyes blaze as he seems to reel in his temper. I don’t flinch away like most would do around him or men like King and the other brothers. I’ve learned to stand my ground around bikers, or they’ll run you right over.

Brick nods at his own thoughts. He reaches to lace his fingers with mine, then leads me up the hallway that has a view into the kitchen on one side and a gorgeous dining room on the other. As we move further up the hallway, I notice the glass panels in this area start to take on a gray frosted hue, making them no longer see-through on either side.

“I usually keep the bedrooms blocked off,” Brick grumbles beside me as if by way of explanation.

I can still tell his words are tight and measured. As if he wants to show me the apartment, but there’s something else pressing on his thoughts.

He pulls me to a mahogany door that has frosted glass inlays and pushes it open. When I step into the master suite behind him, my mouth falls open. The attention to detail is amazing.

However, I don’t get to take it all in. Brick pulls me into the bathroom. It’s just as amazing as the master suite. The walls in here are constructed of the same thick glass panels, but what makes the bathroom outstanding is the mix of glass and brush metal finishes. Even the shower walls have an intricate design of blue glass and gorgeous brush nickel basket weave tiles.

Brick leans over the huge tub and presses a few buttons with his free hand. Water begins to fill the tub on both ends from what appears to be thin air. I lean in and see there are slits in the walls on each side and the water is pouring from them.

My imagination takes off on different designs and my fingers itch for a pad and pencil. I’m in such awe, I don’t even feel when Brick releases the zipper at the back of my skirt.

When it falls to my ankles, I turn and look up at him. He strokes my cheek with his fingertips as his eyes lock on mine. I’m brought back to my present dilemma once again.

I reach for his hand when he goes to release my shirt from its wrap. “Brick, I—” I start, but he cuts me off with a growl.

Cupping my face in one of his large hands, he places his thumb under my chin and tips my head back. His eyes are fierce as he locks them with mine. I can see his ears are red. I remember from when we were younger, they turn red when he’s angry.

“You’re mine, Eva. There is nothing and no one who can or will change that. You’re angry, but you need to reel that shit in. You’re gonna let me explain that shitstorm I used to call a wife and then we’re going to move on,” he says.

“You don’t have to explain anything to me. I think this was all a mistake,” I say softly.

He places his hand on the back of my neck and tugs me into his body. He crushes my lips with his own and consumes every part of my being. When he releases me, I don’t even know what I was trying to say to him.

He searches my face before he reaches to complete his task of releasing my blouse. I bite my lips and shift on my heels. He slides his hands into my shirt, pushing the blouse from my shoulders to the floor.

“I’m laying it all out, Eva. We’re going to get to know everything about each other. The way I should have done this in the first place,” he mumbles and pulls a face.

I nod and allow him to remove my bra. He then reaches for his tie and tugs it loose and over his head. I watch as he starts to unbutton his shirt before dropping it onto the pile at our feet.

Once his pants are unfastened, he drops them to the floor. I turn away, folding my arms around my middle. Brick reaches for my chin, bringing my head back to face him. A smile traces the corners of his mouth.

“Don’t be shy.” He winks at me. “I know you like what you see.”

I bite my lip, trying not to smile back at him. He turns and walks over to the vanity. He opens the mahogany cabinet door and reaches inside. He pulls out a tub of what looks like bath salts or something.

It’s brand new. I allow my smile to surface as I watch him concentrate on taking the packaging off. He fumbles to peel the plastic from the container with his big fingers. When a giggle bursts from my lips, he lifts his green eyes to look at me through his lashes.

I’m shocked when he sticks his tongue out at me. It’s the last gesture I expect to come from this giant biker. It’s adorable and playful all at once, melting my heart.

I reach out a hand. He walks over, placing the jar in my palm. I proceed to open it as he places his hands on my hips. As I peel the plastic away, he dips his head to lick and nip at my neck.

He moves his lips to my ear. “I’ll do better,” he whispers.

When he pulls back, I look up into his eyes and hand him the jar. He takes it from my hold, making sure to graze my wrist with his fingertips. A shiver runs through me.

I wrap my middle again as he moves to shake the pink and white contents of the jar into the tub. When the scent of vanilla and strawberry reaches my nose and bubbles begin to form, I realize it’s bubble bath. Brick closes the jar and turns off the water by pressing more buttons.
