The journey to Black Crest was slow going at first but picked up when we got synced. Their count numbered around two hundred with some of the town’s people bringing the count up to three hundred. The other side was the dark army. The count was around five hundred. It was more than the scout had told us. I shook my head. They had at least a hundred ogres and draugrs. Orcs, ghouls, and goblins made up most of the rest of the invading army. “Guys, it looks like some of the king’s army is here. Can anyone pick out people you know? Are there any mages down there?”
Nobody could recognize anyone from that distance, with the exception of a few mages they spotted down there. We stayed in the foliage to see how they were going to proceed.
“Gordon, see the commander down there.” I pointed toward the king’s army. “Are they all douches like John?”
He chuckled. “No one is like him. He’s in a category all by himself. I’m not sure about the others, but considering they’re nobles, I can guarantee most of them are.”
I nodded and replied, “Well, this is his show for now, but if those wens go into action, my crew will go in.”
“I agree, but not too soon, we want to keep the element of surprise on our side,” Gordon responded.
“Sean, Rachel, and Marie, get your squads into position.”
“Yes, Alpha!” they replied.
“Frank, Jacob, get our mages into position and wait for the signal.”
“You got it boss!” they responded.
“Gordon, you don’t move unless it’s absolutely necessary. You got that?”
“That’s a bullshit command,” Gordon growled. “I can take care of myself, Max!”
I looked at his entourage and advised them, “You let him into this fight, and I’ll filet all of you. Slowly. Do you guys understand?”

“Look Gordon, this isn’t the fight you need to be in at the moment. Yours will come when we get to Oakenshore. I don’t want you hurt and to not be able to make it there.”
