Scott leaned forward, a polite way of indicating that he wished to interrupt. I stopped talking waiting for him. “Err...I am not that knowledgable on VDR, but I thought you could only be whatever your self-image showed. And, please don't try and save my sensibilities. The clearer you are, the better. What was he finding unpleasant or not enjoying?”
“Right. He was being chased by men. Since he was heterosexual, he found this very unpleasant. Since it was a gay lesbian game, if he was changed to a woman, the men would no longer be interested and the women would be. And you are quite right, we did not think you could have a different form to your self-image.”
“You are saying WAS heterosexual. Has this changed?” Scott leaned back in his chair, tapping a pen on the table gently.
“No and maybe. I will get to it. Where was I?” I turned to look at Andi.
“The priestess had offered to change me into a woman,” Andi answered.
“OK. Andi agreed to the priestess' suggestion. I think it best if you explain why, Andi.”
“I agreed because I thought it might be interesting to experience that for a week, I didn't think it was a permanent change.”
“You've changed into a woman?” Scott asked shocked, sitting upright in a surge of energy.
“No. Or, at least, not yet. Perhaps it is best if the questions are at the end,” Andi answered.
“Each answer you give creates more questions.” He grabbed a pen and paper. “If I hold up my hand could you hold off until I have written the question down?”
“Of course.” I then waited while he scribbled furiously. When he had finished I started up again. “The priestess offered and Andi agreed. She couldn't just turn him into a woman, she needed to turn him into an identical copy of someone else and since she was suggesting it, she offered herself. At this point, I need to point out that she was, in fact, an elf.” I had to wait for another question to be written.
“They performed the ceremony, but Andi found it very painful and that logged him out of the system.” Another pause. “He thought, no harm, no foul. I am going to be coming back to that story but the reason why we are here is partly because of what Andi has been through, but also myself and our relationship. So I need to explain what happened when I returned.” I smiled at Andi as I thought about our relationship.
“Because I had given him the wrong game, it was kind of obvious that I was a lesbian. You know, how hard I am trying to keep that a secret, so you can imagine that I was more than a bit upset. The funny thing was when Andi comforted me, I found myself strangely attracted to him, which left me very confused. Thinking about it now, he probably comforted me the way a woman would comfort another woman. Anyway, I urged him to give the VDR another go, but in a standard game, where men didn't chase men. He was cautious but agreed to try it for only one day, game time. When he logged on he found himself as an elven woman, looking identical to the one he copied. When he came out of that game, he came clean and explained all that he had experienced. My conclusion was that his body image had been changed to that of an elven woman. I wondered if that meant he was now transgender, having shown no signs of it before and I wondered how having a different body image would affect his real one.” He held his hand up again.
“Have you finished?” he asked.
“Not quite. I wanted to see this for myself, so the next day I bought another VDR headset and connection cable and we both went back into Lagbit's world. There I seduced and fell in love with Andi, who in the game is an elven woman. They were unhappy with an elf being in love with a human, so they offered to change me into an elf. We chose one who looked very similar to me.” We had to wait while he wrote. “I agreed and was changed into an elven female. In the game we are considered bonded, which is the same as an elven marriage. When we returned to reality, which was last night, I discovered that Andi was distraught over finding himself male again. I think he is now transgender and I personally only think of Andi as a she. I have a few questions for you and after that, we are going to a spa where I intend to femme Andi up a bit.” The last bit I said while staring Andi in the eyes. To be honest I was relieved to see her smile at that.
“Before your questions, can I ask my own? I just want to clarify a few things,” Scott asked.
“Absolutely.”
“Why do you think it is possible that he may change into a woman for real? If I understood what you were saying.” Scott was looking at me so I figured he wanted me to answer.
“I would say ordinarily it was not possible, but I would also say it was not possible to change eye colour, especially to an eye colour I have never seen before.” I turned to Andi. “Come closer and let Scott look into your eyes.”
Scott peered into Andi's eyes.
“Describe what you see Scott,” I encouraged him. I was slightly nervous as only Andi and I had noticed the effect, but I didn't think I could be mistaken.
“Err.. brown eyes with these purplish spots,” Scott said with a curious expression.
“Exactly. Andi's eyes have always been brown. Since this has happened, the lavender spots have appeared and are getting bigger. Guess what colour the female elf game version of Andi has?”
“Purple or lavender, I guess. And your thoughts are if that can change what else can? OK, next question.” He looked down at his notes. “What does an elf in this game look like? And what are the differences?”
“Pretty human, just taller than most humans, slightly pointed ears. All the characters were beautiful and very feminine.”
“Please be specific. What do you mean by that?”
“Very curvy. You know, big up top, slim waist, rounded bottom. Cute noses, big eyes. Perfect teeth. Oh and no body hair. The main differences are non-physical or at least, unseen. Elves are stronger, faster, have more endurance. Better hearing and vision. And they live a lot longer.”
“The next thing I didn't understand, although it may not be very relevant, is how did you log off. I thought you said you had to die to log off early, but you logged off after the transformation,” Scott continued.
Andi answered that one. “There is an automatic emergency log off if you experience too much pain. I did and so I was logged off. I was curious, so I checked the error code.”
“OK, that one has already been answered.” He crossed off one of his lines. “Veronica, what are the differences between you and the elf you?” he asked me.
“Well, Kara, the elf I copied was a little taller than me. I would guess, 5 feet 9 inches, bigger bust, smaller waist, bigger bottom. What was the biggest thing you noticed Andi?”
“Bright green eyes.”
“Oh yes, I forgot about those.”
“OK, I think I have got it clear. I think the first thing I need to say, before we get to your questions, Veronica, is we need to be in communication with the VDR designers. Is this something they have come across before, are they liable?”
“I'm not sure I want to go down that path,” Andi said. “I don't want to sue them or anything.”
“I don't think you understand,” Scott replied. “Even if you don't want to sue them. They need to know this can happen if they don't already. You seem to have accepted what has happened to you, but what if you didn't. What if you committed suicide? What if someone else reacts that way and you could have prevented it by telling them. I can't tell them without your permission. If you both give your permission and I think you should, I will contact them as soon as we finish here.”
I think we were both worried about causing someone else harm by doing nothing, so we both gave our permission. He dictated a letter to his PA and it was brought in for us to sign.
“Your questions now Veronica.”
“I am worried that both Andi and I will change and then have no way to prove who we are. Andi, in particular, could change dramatically. We could take photos but I know they can be doctored, so, how do we prove we are the same people.”
“Good question. I have some ideas, but I need to research what would
be best from a legal standpoint. In the meantime, I would suggest you start documenting the changes both with a camera and writing. A polaroid camera might be better as it is harder to tamper with. I will get back to you as soon as possible on that front. Next question.”
“I am in a very strong relationship with Andi. I love her and I know she loves me.” I said that thanking the high priestess in my mind for her truth spell. “What are the repercussions regarding great grandfather's will?”
“The only thing you have ever had to worry about was the respectability clause. While Andi is physically male there is absolutely no concern whatsoever. In fact, if you were to get married and he changed afterwards to a she, whether surgically or just because a male mind became a female mind, there would still be no problem. They could argue that Andi's respectability was reduced but that would not be you. You would probably get points for standing by him/her. Without marriage, if he became a she and then you were caught together, well it would be down to the judge and how he reads it.”
“Are you suggesting we get married?” I asked him incredulously.
“I am answering a legal question. You just told me that the relationship was strong, what did you mean by that?” Scott answered.
Did I want to marry Andi? There was no question that I loved her and that she loved me. We did have a lot of hurdles ahead of us, but, I wanted us to face them together. I turned to Andi. She wasn't looking at me expecting anything. I think she was in as much shock as I was that marriage had even been mentioned. We had only been in a relationship for 7 days and most of that was game time. Still, when you know it is right, it is right. My only reason to delay would be because society would tell me that you needed longer to be sure. And I couldn't wait for her to ask me, I was dominant, she was submissive. It was my job to ask. I got down on one knee.
I took off my purity ring, I didn't know if it would fit, but it was the best I could do on short notice. I lifted it up to show her. “Will you marry me?”
Andi gasped. “Are you sure? I mean yes, but are you sure?”
There was definitely a yes in there somewhere. In answer, I took her hand and put the ring on her finger. It fit, sort of. It was actually a little loose. Elves have slender hands and fingers. It made me wonder if there were other changes besides her eyes that we just hadn't noticed.
Andi started grinning and I could see moisture in her eyes. We both stood up to hug each other, staring into each other's eyes.
“I will speak to a colleague and arrange a prenup,” Scott said.
To be honest, I had almost forgot that we had company, so his words shocked me and I didn't like the prenup word.
“I don't need a prenup.” For some reason, even the word made me tense up.
Andi squeezed me. “Please have a prenup. I will be happy to sign. Think about it, we are in a relationship for such a short time and then going to get married. Your parents are going to be worried enough as it is. Without a prenup, a lot of people are going to be convinced I am a gold digger. If I have you, I have everything that I need.”
“We will talk about it later.” I turned to Scott, but he had already left the room. I guess we had given him a lot to do and I can't fault him for getting on with it. “You realise that not only are we engaged, but we are going to have to get married very soon.”
“Huh?” Andi looked at me confused.
“Before you change any more, Andi. I am thinking Vegas baby. We still need to match our passports. Maybe we should get some contact lenses so we look like we have the right coloured eyes. Yours are becoming very noticeable and who knows what will happen with mine.”
“Who do you want at the wedding, Vee? My parents are retired in Spain and I don't really care whether they are there or not.”
“I want mine there. Next, we are going to grab you some unisex clothes and then the spa. I will try and contact my parents and see if we can meet them tonight. I need to get to a jeweller and so do you. Can I pick my own ring? I don't mind paying for it.”
“Vee, don't be silly, you can't pay for your ring. Of course, you can choose it. You are going to be the one wearing it. We don't want you having a ring that you don't like. Do we buy it here or in Vegas?”
“You're right. Vegas should have some good shops.”
Andi squealed and hugged me tightly. “We're getting married!” There was a combination of surprise and joy in the words. My heart leapt with a little dance of it's own.
Chapter 12
We had a whistle-stop visit to Marks and Spencer’s, where we bought panties, white sports bras, girl jeans without too much patterning and a white blouse. She looked butch, of course, but a bit more feminine and I could see that she was more comfortable. At a cafe, we had a sandwich and a hot drink, coffee or hot choc. Then we dashed off to the spa. While we were waiting for our appointment, I left Andi sitting reading a magazine while I approached the front desk and spoke to the manager. I knew they wouldn't have a problem with transgender individuals, but it was better to warn them and some staff might be better than others.
The whole body waxing was interesting for both of us. I had had most of my areas done at one stage or another but never everywhere at once. Andi had some fluff on his face and they had a whispered conversation before deciding to try and wax that as well. It worked well and they then went over with a pair of tweezers for any stragglers. They did our eyebrows whilst they were at it. We also did the manicures and pedicures together. There were a couple of times where I thought Andi was going to freak out. I held her hand and looked her in the eyes and she soon calmed down. She chose French tips for her nails and it looked very stylish.
Then it was time to sort out her hair. That was when we noticed another change. If you looked carefully, you could see the roots were blonde. It looked like she had dyed her hair brown, and that her natural blonde colouring was coming through. We didn't correct their assumption, but it meant it made more sense to dye the rest of her hair blonde and try and match with blonde hair extensions. Not quite in that order. They did the hair extensions first and then tried to dye it all to match. They were a bit worried about dyeing already dyed hair, not knowing what products had been used previously. We just told them to treat it like it hadn't been coloured and they did that, and it all worked out. They then styled it so that it could still be put into a low ponytail for a more masculine look or given a couple of feminine styles. Considering her clothing choice, we left it in the ponytail.
We jointly decided against ear piercing. We weren't sure what was going to happen to our ears, so messing with them seemed a bad idea. In fact, I removed my earrings for the time being.
I tried to keep an eye on Andi's expressions. I was trying to sooth her feminine side without overwhelming her. None of the experiences that she had just been through would have been familiar, yet, she is naturally a calm person and just went with it. I really hoped it helped that I was there constantly trying to encourage her. She started to get a bit too nervous about the makeup, so I called that off.
I spoke to my parents. They had planned to go to a restaurant tonight, nothing fancy, just a pub, but an upmarket one. When I told them I had some important news for them, they increased the reservation from two to four. I wasn't sure that would be the right setting for what we needed to discuss. Still, time was of the essence. Nor did we have time to get fancied up, so it was just as well formal dress wasn't required. They picked us up from the train station. I made the introductions, but, refused to be drawn on my special news until we were seated at the restaurant. After we were seated I went up to the bar and ordered a bottle of champagne. I still refused to talk anything but small talk until the champagne had arrived.
Finally, everything was in place and I had no more excuses.
“So? Come on. What is it?” mum asked.
“Andi and I have known each other for almost 2 years. Our relationship has been good with hardly any arguments, however, more recently, it has become a lot deeper and more meaningful.”r />
My mother Sue turned to Andi. “You've been seeing Veronica on the quiet for almost 2 years?”
“Err..well, we have been living together for almost all that time.” Bless her, she was trying to add to my half-truths.
“Andi is transgendered and you know my preferences. She has not come out to her parents, so we have been keeping everything quiet. When we realised how much we love each other we decided to get married.”
There was a pause while both my parents looked on in shock. “Err...congratulations.” They both said it, but there wasn't any real enthusiasm behind it.
“You're not married yet are you?” mum asked.
“No. We would like you to join us in Vegas tomorrow. At least I hope it will be tomorrow. I haven't got the flights booked yet.”
