Forever With His Boss Page 9

“I missed you too,” Ford whispered, stroking the side of Sawyer’s chin. “We need to talk.”

Well, that was a boner killer.

Sawyer rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. Yeah, he’d seen this coming, even though he tried not to panic. Ford said they were fine. Sawyer tapped the bed beside him, and Ford stepped out from between his legs and sat down.

He took Ford’s hand in his, but wouldn’t look him in the eye. “What’s on your mind?”

“You… you’re on my mind… always.” That had Sawyer looking, and he found Ford’s eyes on him. “Always.” Ford leaned in and brushed a soft kiss on Sawyer’s lips, and he melted into him, letting go of the last of his worries as Ford pulled back.

  “But...”

  “But?” Sawyer's eyes widened.

Ford chuckled. “It’s not a bad but.”

“That’s what he said.” Sawyer tried for levity.

Ford cracked a smile, but carried on. “You are everything. I love you, and that will never change.”

Fuck, this was not good. The next thing Ford would say would be, “It’s not you, it’s me.”

“It’s just that, these kids, they need stability. They need you.”

“They need us,” Sawyer interrupted. He didn’t know what magic Ford had, but Savanna had stayed with them for about an hour and had actually spoken more than four words.

Ford smiled. “I was going to say hopefully they’ll come to need me too.”

  Sawyer nodded emphatically. “They will.”

Ford chewed on his bottom lip. “You can tell me to stop being pushy, but I have an idea.” Ford looked at Sawyer like he expected an answer.

“Well, I can’t tell you to stop being pushy if I don’t hear it.”

“The kids… I think I should move here. Like, move in here with you…” Ford looked around the room. “If you want.”

Sawyer stared at Ford. Well, he had definitely not expected that.

“Or not.” Ford started to get up, but Sawyer pulled him down and moved so he straddled Ford’s hips.

“You would leave Amber Falls and move here for me?”

Ford shrugged. “If you want me to.”

His mouth opened, but no sound came out. He never expected Ford to leave Amber Falls, but he was willing to do that for him.

Ford’s eyes were hopeful. How could this man think Sawyer would say no to him… to them?

“ He just sat and stared at Ford for a moment before he found his voice again. “You would leave Amber Falls for me and the kids? After just one day?”

Ford cheeks pinked, but he nodded. “I’m not going anywhere. If you’ll have me, I’m in this for the long haul, wherever that may be.”

Sawyer wasn’t sure what he’d done right to deserve Ford. “I love you so much.”

He moved closer to Ford, and they kissed. Ford wrapped his arm around him and pulled him closer and deepened the kiss until Sawyer slowly pulled back.

Sawyer shook his head. “I don’t want to live here with the kids. New York is amazing, and we can visit, but I want the kids to have more.” He kissed Ford again. “I’m… I have no words. The fact that you’re willing to uproot your life, leave your family to move here means everything, but Amber Falls… I think we could happily raise the children there. That’s where I want us to raise Savanna, Gavin, and Callum. Me, you, Barb and Doug. The kids could have grandparents.”

Ford’s mouth opened, but no sound came out. He cupped Sawyer’s cheek. “Are you sure?”

“You won’t get any argument from me. We’ll talk to the kids tomorrow, and I’ll make all the arrangements after so we can leave by the weekend” Sawyer said. “Now, get those clothes off and come here.”

Ford pulled off his pajama pants while Sawyer had to take a little more time to get undressed. Ford laughed as he helped him to wiggle out of his t-shirt and then they were both naked and back in each other’s clutches.

Sawyer straddled Ford and they kissed, the hunger returning to his actions. His tongue swooped in and claimed a moan from Ford, and Sawyer pressed his naked body down flush with his. Sawyer grabbed onto the blankets and pulled it over them so they were concealed under their warmth. He could hear Ford’s heart beating as he pressed his lips to his chin.

His cock started to throb against Ford’s, and he slowly slid down Ford’s body, once again getting familiar with each curve of it. He pressed his lips against his stomach, and the covers shifted. He heard Ford moan and move beneath him. Sawyer grabbed onto Ford’s cock, and he started to massage it, the swollen head throbbing between his hands. He flicked his tongue out and ran it around the tip, pulling another cry from Ford. He slipped his mouth down his erection, taking it in inch by inch as Ford gasped. He grabbed onto the base of Ford’s shaft, holding it firmly in his hand as he pumped it in and out of his mouth. Sawyer sucked on his heated flesh, running his tongue up and down the veins of Ford’s cock.

“Holy fuck, Sawyer… yes!” Ford cried.

As soon as the words were spoken, Sawyer pulled off his cock and chuckled as he reached up to place his hand over Ford’s mouth.

“Shhh. We don’t want to wake the children,” he teased, then licked Ford’s shaft before taking it all the way to the back of his throat again. Sawyer’s cheeks hollowed, and he sucked harder, grabbing onto Ford’s cock and guiding it in and out of his mouth, enjoying the grunts that Ford released, which were now muffled by his fingers.

  “I’m gonna come!” Ford whimpered.

That had Sawyer sucking even harder until Ford released a guttural groan, and his cum gushed over Sawyer’s tongue. Sawyer let the softening cock slide from his mouth and licked his lips, then wandered back up the bed, coming out from under the covers. He kissed him hard, and Ford laughed between his lips.

“I’ve missed you,” Sawyer whispered as he littered Ford’s skin with a peppering of feather-soft kisses. “I’m so fucking glad you’re here.”

“I’ve missed you, too, so much” Ford’s hand slipped into Sawyer’s hair and then flipped them over so that Sawyer was on his back, and he was now on top. Ford’s lips sought Sawyer’s out eagerly. He traced his lips and even wiggled his tongue into his boyfriend’s mouth eagerly. Ford’s hands gripped his hips, and he jutted upward, his cock still rigid and wet, and when Ford reached between them, his hand wrapped around Sawyer’s shaft before he gave it a squeeze.

“I think it’s your turn,” he mumbled against Sawyer’s parted lips and looked into the man’s lust-drunk eyes. “We can’t celebrate properly if you don’t get off too.”

Sawyer cleared his throat. “Is that right?” His voice was hoarse, his body on edge as Ford dragged his nails down Sawyer’s chest and left trails of pink and red lines on his skin. “Fuck, Ford.”

Ford, the wicked little thing, winked and licked his lips. Sawyer watched as he crawled down his chest bit by bit until he was hidden underneath the confines of the blanket. Sawyer’s back arched up from the bed as Ford swirled his tongue over the swollen, leaking head of his cock.

Sawyer could get used to this. He would worry about moving the kids cross-country later. Right now, he needed to remind Ford how much he meant to him.

Sawyer closed his eyes, his hand going in Ford’s hair, “Fuck, I missed you”

  Ford

The flight to Amber Falls wasn’t a long one, thankfully it was less than four hours. But Callum decided to cry most of the time. Gavin was just over excited at being on a plane, which meant a lot of questions.

Ford totally got parents that slipped some cough syrup to their kids before flights because he and Sawyer were those people who got the evil looks from other passengers. Even being in first class didn’t spare them.

Savanna didn’t talk to either of them the whole trip, which made things super fun… Not. She had headphones in from the moment they got in the car service that drove them to the airport, through check-in, and from take-off to landing.

  She’d made her feeling
s about moving very clear, and he couldn’t even blame her. She was moving across the country after losing her main parent. It was a lot of change for anyone, not to mention a kid.

So he ignored the occasional evil looks she sent their way.

“She’ll come around,” Ford said again to Sawyer after they had disembarked and were grabbing their luggage from the baggage carousel. Ford had a front row seat the past week, seeing just how much Sawyer was trying with his sister, but Savanna wasn’t budging.

Savanna stormed past Sawyer to get her suitcase, ignoring them.

“Will she?” Sawyer looked over at his sister, standing away from them like they had the plague. “She was just coming around, actually eating meals with us, and now this.” Sawyer looked at him.

Ford plastered on a confident smile that he wasn’t really feeling, but one of them had to be hopeful, right? He really wanted to believe and prayed that Savanna would come to see that Sawyer was only trying to do what he thought was best for them.

“She will come around,” Ford repeated, but that time he wasn’t sure if he was trying to convince himself or Sawyer.

“I hope so,” Sawyer murmured. Sawyer continued to hold Callum since there was no point getting the stroller open for the short walk out of the terminal.

Ford pulled his bag behind him through the building and then loaded up the additional luggage that Sawyer and the kids had brought along. He stacked the bags onto the luggage cart and made sure they were steady before he nodded to him. That should do. Sawyer kept giving him apologetic looks because Callum refused to be put down, so Ford had to handle all the luggage by himself.

Savanna grabbed her own luggage and duffel bag, then started walking away from them. Ford double checked Gavin had his backpack over his shoulder before they all headed towards the front door.

“Did you call your parents and let them know we were arriving today”—Sawyer bit his lips—“and that we have three kids in tow?”

“I did. I called them when you called the social worker.” Ford grinned at the memory. When he’d mentioned to his mother that they now came complete with kids, he thought the entire city could hear her yell through the phone.

They exited the baggage claim, and standing behind the rope right at the end was a driver holding the sign ‘Erickson.’

Ford smiled at the man and introduced himself. “I hope you brought the seven-seater with space for the luggage and car seat like I asked?”

The driver nodded and took the luggage cart from him.

This was their life now. He and Sawyer would definitely need to make a list of everything that needed to be done now that they were here.

It had taken five days to get organized and leave New York, a little longer than they hoped, although it had been easier than expected moving the kids. Since Sawyer was their legal guardian, not a foster parent, there were less hoops to jump through.

“What’d they say?” Sawyer interrupted the start of the list he was compiling in his head.

“They’re pretty excited.” Ford chuckled. “I think we can expect some major spoiling.” His parents, especially his mom, couldn’t wait. She was thrilled that she didn’t have to wait for him and Sawyer to give her grandkids—her words, not his.

“Of course.” Sawyer grinned. “I would expect nothing less from Barb.”

They got the elevator to the parking garage and followed the driver to the large SUV, a Lincoln Aviator, and when they opened the car, there was the car seat all ready for Callum.

“See… they come prepared,” Sawyer said.

Ford stuck his tongue out, and Sawyer beamed. So maybe he was being a little much checking and double-checking that the car service remembered a car seat… but he was already protective of the kids.

While the driver loaded their suitcase, they got everyone in, Savanna going all the way to the back seat in the third row. Gavin followed his sister, and Ford said a prayer a fight wouldn’t break out between the two of them.

They made sure the kids were buckled in before pushing the seat back. Sawyer got Callum into the car seat between them and secured the baby, then they were ready to go.

The driver looked back to make sure they were all set before he pulled out of the parking space. The man was mostly quiet, and when Ford looked back, Savanna and Gavin were on their phone and tablet respectively.

With the kids occupied, he finally got a chance to ask Sawyer about the call he’d gotten before they left his house. “What’d the social worker say?” Ford spoke quietly.

“She took down the address of where we’ll be.” Sawyer’s voice dropped lower. “Just in case their mother decides she wants to set up a time to come visit them.”

Sawyer looked over to the kids and then back to Ford. He lowered his voice even more. “She’s still in rehab, so she won’t be visiting anytime soon.”

Ford nodded. That was good, even though there was a tiny part of him that worried about her showing up. He knew that Sawyer was getting attached to the kids already, and it would be hard to have someone else come in and try to stake a claim on them.

He wasn’t sure what Sawyer saw in his eyes because he reached out and grabbed Ford’s hand, and they spent the rest of the ride to Ford’s parents’ home in silence. Although, after a while, when they left the city behind, Gavin seemed to relish his first look at the mountains.

“Look, Savie.” Gavin’s voice was filled with awe. “It’s so pretty.”

Ford glanced back to see if Savanna would say anything. She looked out the window, and he swore her eyes lit up, but she didn’t respond. Ford turned to Sawyer and found his brow furrowed, so he squeezed his boyfriend’s hand, and Sawyer turned to him.

  “She’ll come around,” he whispered.

Ford turned back to Savanna, and she was still looking outside. Yeah, he had a feeling everything would work itself out once the kids were settled.

His list came back to mind with everything they would have to do. The two older ones would have to be signed up for school, and that would probably mean getting records from New York. Ford hoped the social worker could help with that. As for Callum, Ford knew his mom would be the first to volunteer to watch him while he and Sawyer were at work. So that part was easy.

By the time the driver pulled into the long driveway of his family’s house, he already had a list building up on his phone. The man drove up to the front door, then turned around so the trunk was facing the stairs that led up to the porch.

Ford got out of the car and opened the back door for the kids. Savanna came out and looked around without saying a word, while Gavin, on the other hand, jumped out and spun around so much he was worried the kid would puke. His excitement managed to make even Savanna smile. It was nice to know the girl knew how.

When she caught Ford looking, it disappeared. That made him grin. Well, at least there was a chance Savanna would actually come around.

Yeah, and she won’t make you a liar to Sawyer.

Before the driver had the first suitcase unloaded, Ford’s parents opened the front door of the house. That’s when the real excitement started—for his mom at least. The squeals as she ran out of the house could probably be heard all the way over on Wyatt’s property.

“I’m so happy you’re all here, safe and sound.” His mom hurried down the stairs and pulled Sawyer and Callum into a hug. When she pulled back, she beamed at Cal. “Oh my gosh… aren’t you the cutest.” Mom made silly faces at Callum, and he beamed that toothy smile.

Ford rolled his eyes at his mom’s excitement, not that he was surprised. “Ma, just slow down a little,” Ford tried. “The kids might need a minute to get to your excitement level.” Or a year in Savanna’s case, but he didn’t say that out loud.

“They’re fine,” Ford’s mom chided. She held Sawyer’s gaze, who actually looked flustered. “I’m so glad to have you home.”

Sawyer broke into a wide grin, his lips curving. “Good to be home, Barbara.”

  His mom shook her h
ead. “How many times do I have to ask you to call me Mom or Barb?”

Ford snorted and shook his head. He’d begged his mom to be a little less… just a little less in general.

His dad came up beside him and patted his back. “Your mom is really excited.”

  “I can tell,” Ford mumbled.

“Let’s get in out of the cold. Don’t want the children to get sick.” Barb took Callum from Sawyer, and the baby didn’t even cry. She looked at Gavin and Savanna. “Come on you two. We’ll leave the luggage for the men to bring in.” She ushered them up the stairs. “I hope you three like your rooms. We can run into town and pick up whatever you want to make it more ‘you.’”

“That’s too much,” Sawyer whispered when they disappeared into the house.

“My wife has cleaned out all the guest rooms, and she’s already got paint samples ready to go,” Ford’s dad chimed in. “She’s in grandchild heaven, trust me. You won’t win that argument.”

Ford and Sawyer looked at each other and burst out laughing. Ford shook his head. “Whoa, easy there Grandma and Grandpa.”

They weren’t even sure how long they would be at his parents’.

They thanked and tipped the driver before carrying all the suitcases inside. Between Ford, Sawyer, and his dad, everything was brought in quickly.

Ford’s dad left them to it and went in search of his mom. When it was just the two of them, Sawyer pulled Ford into his arms and whispered, “It’s good to be home,” before leaning in for a kiss.

Yeah, it was good to have Sawyer back where he belonged…

“They are out like a light,” Sawyer said as they walked into their bedroom hand in hand. He lifted Ford’s hand and kissed his knuckles. “Thank you for being so welcoming to them.” Sawyer sounded exhausted. “And your parents are amazing!”
