May in Atlantis: Poseidon’s Warriors Page 5

"Does that give me power over your life, too?"

"Forever," she said, nestling into his arms.

"Cool!" Ferrian shouted, jumping up and bouncing around. "We get to live in Atlantis!"

  10

  A week later

Erielle stretched out her legs and rolled herself up in the fluffy blankets just because she could. She'd never again take a soft bed or a hot meal for granted.

She kissed Gabe's bare shoulder and smiled a secret smile. She'd never take him for granted, either.

  But she'd love him forever.

Gabriel opened one eye. "Where's the kid?"

"He's going to try school, he says. There's a teacher there named Sunny that he has a mad crush on."

  "Ah. Sunny."

  "What?"

"There are bets going on whether she's part Siren or something. You can't help being happy around her."

She narrowed her eyes and stared into his beautiful purple ones. "That had better not apply to you."

He pulled her to him and kissed the breath out of her, and then he started doing interesting things to her with his fingers that made her forget entirely what they'd been talking about.

An hour or two later, Erielle jumped out of bed and started to dress. "I have news," she said smugly. "You're looking at the new ambassador to Atlantis from the Fae lands."

"I'm looking at a lot of the new ambassador," he said, when she bent over to find a shoe.

She wiggled her hips at him and, a fraction of a second later, he was out of bed and right up behind her, catching her breasts in his big hands and entering her in one long, slow, motion.

"Oh, Gabriel. You have your hands on the new ambassador," she managed to say, her voice shaky as he gently pinched her nipples in time with his thrusts.

"Oh, Princess," he said, his voice amused. "I have my cock in the new ambassador."

  "Never stop."

"You do realize you are going to have to marry me, right?"

She laughed and then moaned. "Was that a proposal?"

"Are you going to say yes?"

"Definitely, then. Definitely it was a proposal."

And then, some little bit later, they showered and dressed and went to find Ferrian at school, and she found out that Gabriel had already, quite seriously, asked her brother's permission to join the family.

Ferrian, bursting with joy, danced around them in the garden and then jumped up on the ledge of Poseidon's fountain.

"Did you ask her? Did you ask her?"

"I did, but not officially. I need your help," Gabriel said, this man who'd lost his brother and his way but then taken her and her young brother into his heart so completely.

Ferrian reached into a zippered pocket of his backpack and handed Gabriel a box.

  "Good job, buddy."

And then her very own Atlantean warrior knelt down in front of her, right there in the garden.

"Princess Erielle of the High Court, Seelie Fae, will you marry this unworthy warrior and make me the happiest man in the universe? And will you let me be brother to this crazy young man dancing on the fountain?"

Ferrian hugged himself and giggled, and Erielle kissed the top of her brother's head, and then held out her hand to Gabriel, just as she'd done before. "Yes. Yes, I will love you until the end of time. Until the stars shattered around us."

And while she kissed her Atlantean prince and hugged her baby brother, she knew that she would never again be a lonely princess, but always, instead, a woman who loved and was loved.

  Forever and ever.

"Thank you," she murmured, but her heard her and laughed.

  Forever and ever and ever.

  Epilogue

"Now we have a new ambassador in the family," Queen Riley told her husband as they gave their son a bath. "And a new love story."

Conlan sighed and then leaned over and kissed his wife. "I've given up protesting. I'm just along for the ride now. What's next?"

"I thought I'd go and have a chat with Rafael …"

  "Now?"

She laughed and wiggled her nose at their son, to make him laugh. "Don't be silly. June is soon enough."

  Bruce's Cave, Ireland

Flynn twirled the sword in his right hand and the dagger in his left and sauntered toward the three dragons blocking the entrance to the cave. Just outside the entrance, the waves crashed and thundered into the rocks, but at the moment, water was not really concerning Flynn.

  Then again, water never did.

"Boys, boys, boys. I'm not planning to tell anyone about your lair, or your treasure, or even that unfortunate tendency you have to dress up in pink skirts and dance in the moonlight.”

The largest of the three, a good twenty feet tall from toes to the top of his crested skull, reared back and roared, and the cave itself seemed to shake. Anyone who has ever heard a dragon roar would be amazed that Flynn wasn't flat on the ground, trembling in his boots.

Flynn was from Atlantis though. He wasn't the trembling kind.

Still, maybe not the best idea to taunt three of Clan Fury's most powerful warriors. They were lethal in human form, and like this—in their natural shape—they were Death itself.

Nobody had ever accused Flynn of having a lot of best ideas though.

"How about you come on down from your flying-lizard forms, so we
can have this out like men? Or just move aside and let me go, and we'll call it quits. I don't even want a share of your treasure, even though I helped you… let's just say collect, shall we? … some of it.”

The largest and fiercest of the bunch, the one who once had been Flynn's best friend in the world, shot a bolt of searing dragon fire straight down the cave at him. It should have incinerated him.

Would have incinerated him if he'd still been standing there.

Flynn, though, had been goading the dragons into precisely this response. By the time the smoke in the cave cleared, he was traveling in mist form down the coast of Ireland.

He'd had his fun. It was time to go home.

January was as good a month as any to return to Atlantis.
