I'LL Always Love My Mama Page 2

by Dominique Wilkins

Erick burned the letter when they got to his apartment and threw the gun that was wrapped up in the apron to the bottom of the pond one night when he and his mother went out for a stroll and stopped to skip rocks across the water afterward.

He had a lot of making up to do and decided that destroying bad memories was a good place to start. She had been there to take care of him and keep him grounded while he was incarcerated; now it was his turn to be there for her. He was young and dumb and foolish, but that did not mean that he did not love his mother. He’d show her that and all of the things that he learned in jail about God’s love.

He had been through hell, high water and back. At this point, he realized that she was all he ever had. Realizing that, he would never hurt or disrespect her or let anyone else do so either, for that matter! In time, when Latonia tired of him and ran him through the gutter, Erick knew that his brother would eventually learn that too. Though he prayed it would not be too late…

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. (Exodus 20:12)

  The End

  Encouragement

A mother is a person who, seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.

  ~Tenneva Jordan

Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, comrades and friends- but only one mother in the whole world.

  ~Kate Douglas Wiggins

  Resources

It is common to grow up and away from each other, especially when more people tend to add onto the family tree. Learning to communicate and get to know each other as a new unit is crucial to being able to live together and co-exist as a successful family. Sometimes in time, you can figure each other out and make it work and sometimes through prayer and therapy you can get the help you need to understand and love each other.
