“I know,” she says. “You know I'm not the most rational of people when I'm upset. It’s why I’m so fun.” I throw my hands up in frustration at her. “Please, Allie, you know I love you, truly.”

“I would hate to see how you'd treat me if you hated me, truly.”

She hangs her head in shame.

“I've been called out on it, you know,” she says. “Mom has laced into me, so have my brothers, and Tuck is very put out with me for my behavior towards you.”

  “Good,” I say, unmoved.

“Don't you like the flowers,” she puts her laced hands under her chin and bats her eyelashes as she tries to grab on to the tiniest straw of forgiveness.

“I love them,” I tell her, smiling.

“So, I'm forgiven,” she says, smacking her hands down on the armrests of her chair. I just stare at her. “Awww, C’mon, Allie.” She placates me like she used to when we were kids and she'd done something to make me mad. “You know you've never been able to stay mad at me.”

“Yeah, well, you didn't go ripping the head off of my favorite Barbie this time. You really hurt my feelings. You said awful things and I can't just forget that.”

“I know,” she cries. “But I'll make it up to you. I have a house cleaning service coming in starting tomorrow for you and Aaron and...” She holds up her index finger for me to wait as she gets up, goes outside my door, and returning with a huge bag. “I have a cruise package to Alaska for the two of you.” She roots around in the bag, bringing out the trip info before putting it down on my desk to root around in it again. “Your favorite Victoria’s Secret body sprays are all in here, plus the red Fendi bag you wanted too, and Tuck has agreed to do all of your home repairs—”

“Brooke,” I scold her. “You can't just buy my forgiveness. And then you drag poor Tuck into it.” I say this, but I can't help but be touched by her efforts.

“Tell me what to do, Allie.”

“Cancel the cleaning service and Tuck and everything,” I start to tell her, then think better of it. “Well, I'll keep what's in the bag and the cruise. But cancel everything else. And we'll just work on it.”

  “Okay,” she tells me, happily.

“I do forgive you, Brooke, but I got engaged and my mom is pregnant with my fiancé's brother. I really needed my best friend.”

“I'm sorry,” she says. “I’m so sorry.” She comes around my desk to hug me.

“God, you're such a bitch,” I say, hugging her back.

  “I know,” she laughs.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Pacific Palisades, California.

  Aaron Wade’s Apartment

  Allison Moore

“Hey, Baby,” Aaron says, when I walk in the front door.

“You okay,” I ask him, going over to feel his forehead with the back of my hand.

“I'm fine,” he says, giving me a kiss. “Why do you ask?”

“Natalie said you left early,” I say and he laughs. “What's so funny?”

“Baby, you can call me on my cell, you know? You don't have to go through my P.A. to talk to me.”

“It’s part of being a professional and we need to be more professional at work.”

  “Really?”

  “Yes, really.”

“Does this being professional still apply when I have you naked on your desk screaming my name?” I open my mouth in surprise. “Baby, you are going to have to stop opening up your mouth like that around me.” I shut it and I punch him in the shoulder. “What's in the bag?”

  “Brooke's apology.”

“Damn,” he says, peeking inside. “Alaska?”

“That's right, Bay-bee. Just you and me and the open sea for 12 whole days, if you're up for it?”

“Hell yeah, I'm up for it.”

“I feel guilty now, though. I shouldn't have taken it.”

“Well, I'll take it,” he says. He goes for the bag and I snatch it away and take it to our bedroom.

“Hey, were those two sports cars outside when you came,” I ask him when he enters the room to watch me change out of my work clothes. I get naked and head to the shower. Aaron is a step behind me as I knew he would be.

“Sports cars,” he says as he steps in behind me.

“Mmm,” I moan as the warm water hits me. Aaron takes my sponge and begins to wash my back. “Yeah, a black one and a pink one with a big gold bow on it. I guess some lucky bitch just got it for a present.” I turn and look at him when he sighs loudly. “What?”

“I will not have you calling my fiancée a bitch.”

  “I didn't.”

  “You did.”

“Now why would I call myself a bitch? No,” I say to him when it dawns on me. He nods his head. “Aaron Wade, you did not just buy two sports cars.”

We quickly rinse the soap off each other and dry ourselves off. He holds up pink car keys and dangles them in my face. I grab them and run for the door.

“Clothes,” he yells to me. I take off my robe and quickly dress in sweat pants, a T-shirt, and a hoodie.

“It's beautiful,” I squeal at the pink convertible sports car.

  “You really like it?”

“Like it? I love it,” I say. “What is it?” He laughs at me.

“It's a Lamborghini, Baby. Custom made for you.”

“Custom made?” The dollars adding up in my head.

“Yup. Barbie doll pink with peanut butter interior and it's completely automatic.” He makes a point to emphasize that last part. He took me driving when I first got my permit. It wasn't my fault he only had a stick shift. By the time we were done, his engine was left somewhere on San Vicente Boulevard.

“Aaron, this must have cost a fortune.”

“Only a small one.” He makes the letter u with his thumb and index fingers to indicate the amount.

  “But, can you afford this?”

“Yes, we can.” He kisses me.

“Both of them,” I ask, glancing over at his all black one.

“Yes,” he laughs, opening the door for me. “Now, are you going to take it for a spin?”

  “Yes,” I say getting inside.

“Sage and Laura are waiting for you at Sage’s place,” he says. I give him a sloppy wet kiss that makes him moan. “Damn, woman.” He becomes visibly hard in his running shorts. “Hurry back.”

  ****

I pull into the underground garage at Sage’s apartment.

I see Sage and Laura waiting for me by the elevator and I make the mistake of blowing my horn. We all cover our ears as the loud blast bounces several times off the walls.

“I hate you,” Sage says as she gets a look at the car. I laugh as she and Laura hop in.

“Well, with this baby, you can now hate me properly,” I tease her and she sticks her tongue out at me.

“So how was the test drive,” I ask Allie when she comes in.

  “It was ah-may-zing.”

  “Good.”

“Come on, our pizzas getting cold.”

“I thought you wanted me to cook,” she says as we sit down to eat.

“I did until you laid that kiss on me in the parking lot.” “Now, I just want some nookie from your cookie.”

  She stops in mid-chew.

“You've already had nookie and my cookie three times today,” she tells me, messing up the phrase. “Keep this up and there won't be any cookie left to nookie.” I laugh at this conversation. “I'm serious,” she says. “You’re going to wear it out.” I laugh harder. “It's just going to be cookie dough down there,” she says.

“I can't breathe,” I warn her, laughing too hard

Reluctantly, I agree to give her a break and just settle for holding her in my arms tonight instead. I chuckle at her nightly routine of playing with her rings. The ones she wears around her neck and the one on her finger.

“Take it off,” I tell her of the necklace. She sits up, pulls the necklace off, and puts in her bedside drawer f
or safekeeping before she snuggles back down next to me.

  “Aaron?”

  “Hmm?”

“Are you sure we can afford those cars?”

“I'm sure, Baby,” I tell her. “Kent turned me on to his finance manager and he already put us on a budget.”

“And we could afford those cars on our budget,” she asks me and I laugh.

“Oh, Baby, that's nothing. Those cars didn't even put a small dent in our budget.”

“Oh my God, Air. We are going to owe taxes up the ass.”

“Don't worry, Baby. With the business and the house, we're building right now, we should be okay.” She sighs to let me know she's still worried. “I'm meeting with him again in a few days. Why don't we go together?”

“You sure you want me in on that?”

“Of course,” I say, wondering why the hell she’d think I wouldn't. “You're about to be my wife.”

She gets up to face me and I follow suit. I’m already not liking what she’s about to say.

“We should talk to your dad’s lawyer about a prenup.”

“You afraid I'm going to run off with your money,” I ask her and she hits my chest.

  “Not funny.”

“I'm not speaking to my dad at the moment,” I remind her.

  “Your mom's boyfriend then.”

“We are not getting a damn prenup, Allie,” I tell her, closing the discussion.

  “Air,” she starts.

“No,” I tell her. “Now, stop this shit.” She sighs again. “Oh, for fuck sakes,” I tell her, taking a deep breath. “Allie, when you forgave me for being the world's biggest Jackass, I made you a promise. I promised that I would do whatever I could to make WC a success so that I could give you the world. A prenup wasn't part of that promise.”

  “I don't remember this promise.”

  “You were sleeping.”

  “Awww,” she coos, kissing me.

  “No more prenup, okay?”

“Okay,” she agrees and we settle back down. “But just so you know, you already gave me everything I could ever want when you gave me this.” She puts the palm of her hand flat on the middle of my chest. My heart speeds up in response to her touch. “Everything else pales in comparison.”

  “I love you, Baby.”

  …..

“Aaron,” I hear Allie call to me, pulling me out of my sleep.

“What's the matter, Baby,” I mumble to her.

  “I'm horny.”

“Cookie dough,” I remind her, drifting back to sleep. “Aw, fuck, shit, Allie,” I yell out as I am jerked awake by the amazing feel of her mouth on my dick. “Ssssss, Baby,” I hiss as she swallows me down. My eyes adjust to the light and I look down to see her head bobbing up and down as she sucks me off. “Allie,” I moan as I teeter on the brink of coming. “Ah. Ah. Ah. Ah,” is all I can manage to pant out as I come hard in her mouth.

“Mmmm,” she says, swallowing it all down and licking me clean. I collapse on the bed, drained dry of not only cum, but of energy. I take what little I have and pull her up on me.

“I want to taste you,” I tell her.

She straddles my head and I position her over my face. The smell of her arousal has given me new strength. I lift her hips up so that I may look at her. She is soaking wet and she is about to drip on me. I stick out my tongue and to catch it and flick her clit with the tip. She moans loudly and nearly jumps through the roof, if I wasn't holding her steady.

“Ohhh, Aaron, please,” she begs me. “Oh my God,” she moans as I take her clit in my mouth and suck. I take my hand and slip up to play with her tits making her moan louder. I know she is close when she begins to rock her hips, grinding into my mouth. “Oh God, Air, don't stop, please,” she begs. She throws her head back as she comes long and wet into my mouth.

“Mmmm,” I say as I drink her, finally quenching the thirst I had since she kissed me in her car earlier.

“Better, Baby,” I ask her as she settles down next to me.

“Mm-hmm,” she says nearly asleep, “much better.”

I kiss her head and hold her close as sleep finds me.

  Peninsula Bayside Beach, Long Beach

  Julia Moore’s House

  Jay Wade

Pulling into Julia’s driveway at half past nine, I’m sure she’s still up. Hopefully, she’s feeling better because all I want to do is sink into her tonight. This pregnancy is taking a lot out of her. She still can’t keep much down and she barely has enough in her to go to work. I suggested she take time off, but she insists the place needs her. What she hired managers for escapes me if she has to be there to run the place all the time. She’s pushing herself too hard and it makes me worry about the baby, but I dare not voice my concerns for risk of being accused of calling her an unfit mother.

Her mood is hard to gauge. I can’t say much to her lately without her going off on a tangent, talking about God only knows what and why. Last week, I suggested we get a bigger place after we get married. Even with Allie moving out, it’s a bit cramped here for my taste. I saw a great property that just came on the market. A five-bedroom, two-story home, with a large yard in El Dorado, since she likes Long Beach so much. Of course, she misunderstood me and started World War III.

“What do you mean with Allie moving out? Are you saying she’s not welcomed to stay with us?”

“You know that’s not what I meant,” I told her. “Allie is like a daughter to me. She will be my daughter-in-law very soon, as a matter of fact. If she and Aaron want to stay with us, they are always welcome. You know that. But she has moved out. She’s living with my son, that’s all I meant.”

“And I guess my place isn't good enough for you. It didn't seem to be much of an issue when you kept sneaking over here, now all of a sudden, it’s too small. Well, I’m sorry I can’t provide a larger house for you, like Kathleen did, but I’m proud of this place.”

“This has nothing to do with Kathleen.”

“Because I’m not a world-renowned surgeon. Giving you a child is just not enough anymore.”

“If this is how she would have acted, I’m almost glad she couldn't have kids.”

I still want to kick my own ass for telling her that. It was solely out of anger and I didn’t mean a syllable of it. Things have been strained between us ever since.

Purposely, I walk up the steps, eager to see her.

“You’re home. I was beginning to worry,” she says, coming down the stairs.

I was expecting a kiss, but instead, her arms are folded, tucked between her belly and her tits. Both have gotten beautifully large with pregnancy and nothing turns me on like it. Kathleen always fretted about her weight. She wanted to be rail thin, but I’ve always liked her with curves.

“I’m sorry. I should have called,” I say, with a bit of guilt for thinking of my wife while looking at her. Ex-wife. “I got caught up in a meeting.”

“Really. I guess it must have been important.”

“It was,” I say, putting my briefcase down by the door. “My office is trying to push the latest energy bill through and get it on the ballot before elections. It’s bogged down with too much red tape and I hate treading through everyone else's agendas. No one gives a damn about what’s important anymore.”

  “You look exhausted.”

“It’s been a long day and it’s not over yet. I have another meeting first thing in the morning I need to prepare for.”

“I guess that means we aren't going out for dinner after all,” she says. It’s only then I take note of the dress she’s wearing. I’d completely forgotten about dinner.

“It must have slipped my mind,” I admit.

“And the three text messages I sent didn't remind you?”

“My phone was off for most of the day, Sweetheart. It’s still in my briefcase. I haven't even turned it on since I left out of here this morning.”

“You seriously haven't turned your phone on all day? It never occurred to you to check and see
if I needed anything, or if I was even okay, all day?”

“You know you can call my office if you need me.”

“I shouldn't have to call your office to talk to you. Why can’t you call and talk to me?”

“Where is all this coming from?”

“Gee, I don't know. Maybe because the minute you walk out of here, I never hear from you. Maybe because being pregnant with your child has me sick all the time and you’re never around. Maybe, since I was feeling at least half-way human today, I was looking forward to going out with my fiancé. Maybe, I’m just tired of still feeling like the other woman in your life.”

I run my hands through my hair in frustration. I’ve been in meetings all day dealing with petulant politicians. I am in no mood to deal with it on my personal time. I take off my jacket and toss it on the couch, seeing the latest edition of gossip magazines on the coffee table.

“Were you reading the papers again? I told you to stop torturing yourself with that trash. Soon they’ll move on to try and ruin someone else’s life.”

“Oh, they have moved on. From you. They don’t even mention you anymore, but me, I’m still the whore who broke up a family and not just any family, oh no. I broke up California’s beloved Senator Wade’s family.”

“You knew this wasn’t going to be easy. You are the one who warned me about all of this. My God, I’m divorced. We’re getting married. What else do you want?”

“I cannot believe you have to ask me that.”

“Julia, I’m sorry dinner slipped my mind. I had an extremely busy day. Now, if you want to go out to dinner, let’s just go.”

“I wouldn't go with you now if you paid me,” she says. I watch utterly frustrated as she storms upstairs.

  Chapter Seventeen

  Downtown Los Angeles

  Sage Turner’s Loft

  Sage Turner

Wednesday morning, I wake up refreshed, but still a little sad. I look over at JR and give him a quick kiss. Careful not to wake him, I climb out of bed to get ready for work. I have to leave a little early as I have a meeting with the head of HR. I'm nervous as to why she would want to meet with me personally. I get dressed quickly, grab my laptop and iPhone and head out the door. I walk into Lillian Reed’s office and stop in my tracks when I see Finch sitting across from her. She directs me to sit in the seat beside him.
