I smiled as she flopped down in the seat on the other side of the table.

“Well, I do love to deliver expectations. So, I’m happy to report that we won’t be in the hospital this weekend.”

She giggled. “Good. I’m glad you’re alright.”

I watched as she patted herself down with the towel. In all my years, I’d never wanted to be a towel so bad in my life. I was jealous of that fabric. The way it smoothed over her skin. The way it fell between her legs. The way it ran against her skin as she stood up, drying off her back.

  “Need any help?” I asked.

She snickered. “You’d like that wouldn’t—shit.”

The wind kicked up, making her shiver to the bone. And when it caught the towel, the damn thing fluttered all the way to the edge of the patio. I got up and moved quickly, trying to catch it before the thing made its way for the pool. But I wasn’t the only one chasing after it.

“Oh, sorry. Sorry. I got it.”

Her hand fell against mine as I lifted the towel to her.

“Wrap up. It’s chilly out here,” I said.

Electricity shot up my arm. Her hazel eyes fluttered up to mine as her hand kept a grip against my skin. I felt her shaking, and goose bumps flooded her skin, but I wasn’t sure if she was cold or something else. My cock pulsed. My back straightened. I raked my teeth over my upper lip to keep from growling, to keep the animal caged just a little bit longer.

  “Thanks,” she said breathlessly.

But when she pulled the towel away from me, I couldn’t resist her any longer.

  “Fuck it,” I murmured.

I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her close to me. She gasped, the towel falling from her hand as she looked up into my eyes. Her hands slid up my arms and gripped the sleeves of my leather jacket as my groin pressed against her pelvis. My eyes danced between hers, and when her eyes fell to my lips, I took the opening, crashing mine down against hers.

  “Mmm,” she moaned.

  “Just like that,” I murmured.

My tongue pushed between her lips as I pulled her harder against me. I blanketed her in my body as I backed her against the glass table. I hoisted her up, sitting her on the edge as she pushed my jacket off my arms. And even though the wind kicked up again, I didn’t feel cold.

  She didn’t shiver, either.

Our tongues collided. I bent her backward and pressed between her legs, feeling the heat of her pussy radiating beyond the wetness of her bathing suit. I rocked against her, begging for friction, for another sign that it was okay to progress. I couldn’t wait, though. I had to have her. I couldn’t dance around this fucking tension between us any longer.

  “Gael, please,” she whispered.

At her command, I slid my lips down her neck.

I sucked at her pulse point. I felt her tits puckering as my hand cupped her breast. I dug my teeth softly into the soft meat of her shoulder, tasting her, marking her, watching her creamy skin tint with my efforts. She moaned as her head fell back. I slid her wet bathing suit straps down her arms, working her torso out of that damn thing before I wrapped my lips around her pert nipple.

  “Oh, fuck,” she groaned.

I lapped my tongue against it, feeling it pulse for me. Her legs wrapped around me and pulled me closer to her. The wind grew colder, and I started to shiver beyond the warmth of Syn’s body. When she tugged my shirt over my head, I knew we had to get somewhere warmer.

  “Hot tub. Now,” I growled.

I peeled the rest of her bathing suit off before standing back. My eyes roamed her body, puckered and shaking in the cold, bitter wind. I kicked off my boots and shoved my pants down my legs, and she grinned at the wet spot against my boxers.

“Someone’s excited,” she said, her voice low and sultry.

“Can you blame me when I stare at you all day?”

Her cheeks flushed as I kicked my clothes off. Thank fuck for the woods. Thank fuck for the privacy fences around her property because I was going to take her in all the ways I imagined at night.

I picked her up and walked her over to the hot tub. I pressed the green button for the jets, and they roared to life. Hot bubbles popped and steamed, ushering us into its warmth. And as I walked down the steps into the in-ground escape, I sighed with relief.

  Before Syn jumped my bones.

  “Sit. Now,” she commanded.

She knocked me off balance and didn’t give me a choice. As she straddled my lap, her hands cupped my cheeks. Her lips fell against my own, kissing me with a passion that left me breathless. How the hell did this woman always get the upper hand? How the hell did she always take me by surprise?

I loved it, though. How she could turn things around on me.

My tongue slid against the roof of her mouth. Her pussy slid against my aching dick. The bubbles popped around us while the small waves of the water sloshed against our skin. She pressed herself up. Her hands slid down my chest before I felt one wrap around my cock. But when I felt her position me against her entrance, my gaze found her own.

“Only if you want this,” I murmured.

And she answered me by encompassing me within her tight, wet walls.

  Syn

My head fell back as I groaned with every inch of him my body swallowed. My hands braced against his chest, my pussy trying to adjust to his girth. I gasped for air. Electricity robbed me of my ability to speak. Gael grabbed my hips and held me against him, giving me time to get used to the feeling.

“Holy hell, you feel incredible,” I whispered.

I looked up into his eyes and found him smiling. The heat in his gaze was unmistakable, but the pride in his eyes made me smile. With his tattoos pulsing underneath my hands and his scars covered in popped bubbles, there was nothing more I wanted than to be taken over by him. I slowly slid up, pressing onto my knees as my walls cried out for mercy, begging for him to come back. My body shivered with every rib of his veins.

  “Syn,” he grunted.

I slid back down, again and again, bouncing in his lap as water sloshed over the edge of my hot tub. My forehead fell against his. He captured my lips, and as my tongue tangled with his in a sultry dance, his arms embraced me, blanketing me with their strength as I rode that massive dick of his.

  “Yes. Yes. Yes,” I murmured.

  “Mmm, come for me, gorgeous.”

I rocked against him, seeking my end as his hands slid down to my ass cheeks. He gripped them, pulling me even closer as my head fell back. My body contracted as the whole of his cock tickled my insides. And as I fell over the edge, he continued fucking me, thrusting upward, filling me and emptying me, pounding against my hips as I rode through my pleasure.

  “Gael!”

  “I need more,” he growled.

He pulled out from between my legs and quickly whipped me around. With my hands pressed against the concrete, he held my hair tightly in his hand. I knelt on the edge of the hot tub. His cock found its home again within my body as his pelvis seated against my ass. My body shivered with a need for him. And as he thrust against me, my body jumping in ecstasy, I felt my second orgasm quickly building.

“What have you done to me?” I breathed.

“I ask myself that same question a lot,” he groaned.

My eyes rolled into the back of my head as his hand slid down my spine. My head fell forward, touching the concrete as I bucked back into him. I pressed into my hands, his cock filling me as it grew inside my pussy. I felt my clit swelling. I needed to touch it. I needed to caress it.

But Gael was a step ahead of me.

  “Oh, yeah,” I moaned.

  “That’s it. Squeeze that cock.”

  “Gael. Gael. Gael.”

  “Open wide, Syn.”

His cock sank into me as his fingers parted my pussy folds. But when I felt the stream of the jet against my aching nub, my eyes widened, my jaw fell open, and my throat closed. And as my body quaked with roaring lust, an unearthly
sound broke free from my throat.

  “Holy fuuu—uuuuck!”

Water poured over the edge. The sounds of skin slapping skin were muffled by the roiling bubbles as they burst against my clit. I dug my nails into the concrete as I gasped for air. I shook and pushed back. But the more I tried to get away, the closer he pushed me.

“Come for me and say my name.”

  “Oh, my goooo—ooood.”

It felt so good. So good, it hurt. I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. I didn’t know which way was up. All I knew was the feel of Gael as he commanded my body and moved me in any way he wished. He pounded into me with a fury as drool dripped down my cheek. Never had I felt this way before. Never had I been with a man who made me feel so amazing. So alive. So wanted.

“I’m coming Gael,” I choked out.

And with Gael’s growl, I felt him explode deep inside me.

“Oh, yeah. That’s it. Squeeze, Syn. Holy fuck.”

Colors burst in the darkness behind my eyelids. My knees slid out from underneath me as Gael wrapped his arm around my waist. He pulled me into his lap as he sat back down, heaving for air he so desperately needed. I quivered against his chest and placed my cheek against his shoulder as the bubbles of the hot tub died down, leaving nothing but soft peaks of water to undulate into nothingness as the lights under the water turned off.

“Gael,” I whispered as the night sky reflected against the water around us.

He kissed my forehead. “I’ve got you. Rest.”

He wrapped his arms around me, and I closed my eyes. The sounds of the neighborhood fell quiet, and all I heard were the sounds of car horns honking way off in the distance. While I might have pretended to “accidentally” drop that towel, I figured it would be nothing but a tease. Another prequel of something that might happen, eventually. I didn’t think it would amount to anything like this. Such raw, carnal desire exploding between the two of us.

  “Oh, wow,” I breathed.

  He chuckled. “Yes. That.”

I snuggled closer into him, and he held me tighter. He didn’t push me away or get up. It felt nice, being cradled, not being alone for once. And with him walking around my place the past few days, it had been hard not to jump his bones. I mean, the man walked around shirtless. I found him brewing coffee in nothing but his boxers one morning. The man was a walking tease. And I figured, why not get a little even?

This is so much better than even.

I sighed with relief. Finally, the tension was gone. Now, to let him go. I had gotten it out of my system, the spark flared and died. Now, I could get back to my life, get back to this story, and get back to fixing my reputation in the media.

Except, I didn’t get out of the hot tub.

“What are you thinking?” Gael asked.

That we can proceed with business as usual.

“You’re thinking right now?” I asked, giggling.

He kissed the top of my head. “The stars are pretty tonight.”

  I nodded. “Yes, they are.”

“Not as pretty as you, though.”

Get out. Abort. This isn’t good.

“You always know how to make me feel warm inside,” I said.

“You deserve at least that, Syn.”

I lifted my head. “Why are you so kind?”

His eyes found mine. “Why waste my time on being anything else?”

See, he’s not just doing it for you. “I hope you know you’re a good man.”

“And I hope you know you deserve better than what Liam gave you.”

  Get out! Get out now!

I felt myself slipping deeper into him the more I looked into those sparkling blue eyes, half-hooded from pleasure, yet still boasting of strength. How was that possible? I felt like a bowl full of Jell-O about to be put in a hot bath.

“I’m falling for him,” I whispered.

  “What was that?” Gael asked.

I straightened up on his lap. “Nothing.”

  “Syn, what’s wrong?”

I got up, despite my legs stumbling about.

“Whoa, whoa. Take it easy. Syn, hold on.”

I walked toward the steps. “I need a shower. If I sit too long like this, I’ll get—”

He reached for my arm. “Now, wait just a second.”

I ripped away from him. “I need a shower,” I said again.

I stumbled and fell on my ass just outside of the hot tub. But when Gael made his move to help me, I scrambled to my feet. I rushed over to the table, gathering up my bathing suit and my towel. Then, I headed straight for the porch door.

“Can I get you anything?” Gael called out.

“I just need a shower. I’ll see you in the morning!”

  “Wait, what?”

I sped inside the house and didn’t look back. I had to get away from him. I had to nip this in the bud while I still had the chance. I rushed upstairs, leaving a trail of water behind on my beautiful hardwood floors. When I got into my bedroom, I closed my door, even locked it before I leaned heavily against it.

  “Why me?” I asked softly.

I slid down the door until my wet butt cheeks touched the plush carpet. I sighed as I closed my eyes, feeling nothing but tiredness take me over. Gael had worn me out in all the best ways. But something in my gut still thrummed for him. Something inside me still wanted to be close to him. And I wanted to rip that part out of me and stomp on it.

“Pull yourself together, girl. He’s just a man,” I whispered harshly.

But he’s so much more than that.

“I know I have feelings for him, damn it.”

You have to control them. This marriage is fake.

I banged my head softly against the door. “I know. I know. I know.”

So, do it. Get yourself together.

  “I’m trying, okay?”

I felt as if I was losing my mind. I yelled at myself in my own empty bedroom and heard steps quickly ascending the stairs. I held my breath. I braced myself for Gael’s voice. But the footsteps stopped before the sound of the padded carpet gave him away.

And with each backtracking footstep, my heart broke a little more.

This marriage was just for show. Yes, the feelings developed fast, but that didn’t change anything. Sure, Gael was attracted to me, but attraction didn’t equate to feelings. I had no way of knowing whether or not he felt the same way about me. And if I said something, it might make things forever awkward, making this story even harder to sell to the damn press.

And the last thing either of us needed was for things to get any harder.

“He wants his green card. Nothing else,” I murmured.

I pulled myself up from the floor and tossed my shit into the hamper.

“And you want to keep your career and your image,” I reminded myself.

Getting a green card and being saddled with me for the rest of his life were two very different things. We had to be married long enough for us to fulfill what we came into this wanting to accomplish. Then, we’d have an easy, uncontested divorce. The plan was foolproof. Basically. Kind of. I mean, Madison could make it foolproof.

  What have you done?

I dragged myself into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I didn’t care what temperature the water was. I just wanted to rinse myself off, wash myself of the evidence of tonight so that, hopefully, I didn’t go to bed smelling like Gael. I didn’t want that scent to transfer. I didn’t need his scent on the sheets of my bed. Because if I woke up smelling him, I’d want him next to me.

Which only spelled disaster for our little project.

  19

  Gael

  Fuck.

That was the emotion of the week. And the action. And how I felt every time Syn did nothing but nod at my “mornings” or my “hellos”. It seemed that after our nighttime hot tub moment of ecstasy, she had nothing for me. She was cold. Elusive. Actively avoiding me, or so it seemed. I didn’t like that. It put me in a foul mood every single time i
t happened.

And I wanted it to change.

I mean, she’d been polite; I didn’t think Syn had it within her to legitimately be rude to someone. But after our encounter in her backyard, I knew I wanted her more than ever. As long as she’d have me. Forever, if I could swing it. She was the woman for me that much was for certain.

It seemed as if she didn’t feel the same way, though.

  “And, action!”

Voxx’s voice pulled me from my trance and I watched the stunt unfold, a massive confrontational scene between Syn and the ultimate bad guy for this season. It was one of our last few days of shooting on set before the break, and we wanted to end on a good note. I watched tensely from the sidelines, though.

Because Syn always wanted to do her own stunts.

“You’ll never get away with this. I’ll see to it!” Syn’s character exclaimed.

Punches were thrown, and grunts were faked. I watched where that stuntman put his hands, though. If he left one mark on Syn’s body at all, he’d have to answer to me.

  “Shit!” Syn yelled.

  “Cut, cut, cut!” Voxx bellowed.

Syn dropped to her knees, and I went rushing onto the stage. I shoved the stuntman out of the way and fell to my knees in front of her. I brushed her hair out of the way, ignoring how she pulled away from my hand. And when I saw tears in her eyes, my blood boiled.

“What happened? Where did he hit you?” I asked.

  “Medic,” Syn breathed.

I leapt up to my feet. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”

The stuntman held up his hands. “It was just an accident. They happen all the time.”

I gripped the man’s arm. “Were you not watching? Did you not see what she was doing? Why the fuck were you punching so hard in the first damn place?”

“Hey, get the hell off me, Gael. It was a damn mistake.”

“I don’t fucking care what you call it. You hit my wife.”

  “Hey! That’s enough,” Hunter hissed.

I felt someone grip my shirt from behind and rip me away from the man. My head whipped over to Syn, where the medics were attending to her. I tried to get to her, but Hunter kept tugging me. Away from my wife. Away from the woman I had fallen for. Away from the woman who glared at me from beneath her tendrils and wondered what the hell I was doing.
