DISCOVERY (Esquire Black Duet Book 1) Page 21

by Hayley Faiman

Her body is tight, her muscles frozen and her lips pressed shut. There’s no prying them open right now. That’s okay, I’ll fuck her later and everything will be back to normal.

She’ll just have to deal with the fact that I am not this perfect man. I’ll never be him, and our relationship will run its course eventually. It will not end in flowers and a white dress.

“You walk away from me, go back into that office and close that door, I will not be here when you get finished,” she announces.

For all intents and purposes, she sounds so fucking strong. I know her though.

Brooklyn Myers is strong, except when it comes to me. When it comes to me, she’s weak as fuck, and I’m a predator, preying on that fact, and her.

Turning away from her, I walk back to Jamie. I know that Brooklyn will be in my bed when I’m finished with the blonde in my office.

Opening my office door, I freeze at the sight in front of me.

  BROOKLYN

Without a word, I tiptoe behind him. I bite the inside of my cheek so hard that I taste blood.

Jamie is sitting on his desk, completely naked.

Her legs are spread and facing the doorway. I can see every inch of her body, she’s on complete and full display.

  “Jamie,” Lucas’ deep voice rumbles.

He’s affected by her, why wouldn’t he be? He’s had her, and she’s offering herself on a silver platter again for him.

She’s beautiful, too, I hate that part of this whole thing the most. I don’t hear what she says to him, the blood that’s rushing through my body and ears is too loud for me to hear anything else.

  I’m a fool.

  I’m not only weak.

  I’m an idiot.

Backing away slowly, I don’t torture myself for another moment longer.

My purse and keys are still near the front door, exactly where I dropped them when he fucked me against it.

Rushing over, I grab my things and I run out of his house.

I’m vaguely aware that I’m barefoot, wearing only his shirt and no bra or panties as the cool night air hits me, but I don’t care.

Gone is the fear I had earlier, now I just feel beyond embarrassed, foolish, and disgusted with myself.

How could I allow this man to treat me this way?

How could I think that he would ever want more from me, that as long as I wanted everything, he would come around?

  What is wrong with me?

Tears stream down my face, it’s hard to see the road in front of me the tears are falling so heavily, and then my body starts to shake with sobs.

  I see the headlights.

The car swerves, but I don’t know if it’s mine or theirs.

  Then everything goes dark.

The conclusion to DISCOVERY is APPEAL.

  About the Author

As an only child, Hayley Faiman had to entertain herself somehow. She started writing stories at the age of six and never really stopped.

Born in California, she met her now husband at the age of sixteen and married him at the age of twenty in 2004. After all of these years together, he’s still the love of her life.

Hayley’s husband joined the military and they lived in Oregon, where he was stationed with the US Coast Guard. They moved back to California in 2006, where they had two little boys. Recently, the four of them moved out to the Hill Country of Texas, where they adopted a new family member, a chocolate lab named Optimus Prime.

Most of Hayley’s days are spent taking care of her two boys, going to the baseball fields for practice, or helping them with homework. Her evenings are spent with her husband and her nights—those are spent creating alpha book boyfriends.
