  WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR

Twenty human women have their reasons for selling their bodies to aliens for money, and no two stories are the same. It’s these twenty women who find themselves together on an assignment claiming to be different from the rest. Most alien races don’t bring in twenty women at once. Most aliens don’t say they’re looking for a Chosen mate or promise they can stay with them forever. The biggest difference? These aliens refuse to treat females as pets. And while plenty of the women are happy to carry the new title of equal, many believe their unique circumstances are too good to be true. After all, aliens aren’t kind to humans. And what little known history they have about their new buyers – the Sidyths – isn’t promising.

Sidyths originate on Sidetha and are known throughout the galaxy for disrespecting women. They say they’re weak. They’re impulsive. They need to be tamed. And if females on their homeworld don’t measure up, they’re thrown into something referred to as “the hunt.” There are a few who know the true meaning of this word, but their lips are sealed.

Luckily, this isn’t their homeworld, and these Sidyths claim they’re different from the rest.

Exiled from home for refusing to follow Sidyth custom and sent to an out of the way world to fade into obscurity, their numbers are hard to guess, and their motivations are more opaque. And while some aliens claim they’re different, there are often homesick whisperings of the fatherland.

The Sidyths are somewhat humanoid in appearance, but they’re also seven feet tall, pale, covered in scales, and continuously freezing without the constant presence of sun rayers or heat. They have a surprising amount of comfort considering their exiled status, and the women have a former Sidyth royal, Prince Korben, to thank for that. Thanks to the mercy of the Prince Korben’s father, despite the rainy days and horrific creatures living in the forests, life isn’t terrible.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t expectations.

Prince Korben didn’t order twenty human females to Hethdiss for fun. He was looking for a mate. He wishes for all his most trusted brothers to find mates as well. He planned to create a utopia where women and men are treated equally and, thanks to the research of one of his closest allies, they found the most compatible species at a low cost. Most of Prince Korben’s brothers are thrilled at the idea of having a human female mate, but most of the humans were not nearly as enthusiastic. Prince Korben promises the human females will be safe and welcome to stay if they’re happy on Hethdiss, but most women have worked far too long to take the promise of an alien seriously.

Things are going well enough for the humans. Prince Korben has found a mate in Blythe, the busty, feisty de facto leader of the group and the two of them now have their first daughter, Kyeth. There are four more successful pairings – Azan and York, Hujun and Ellis, Layla and Dolan and most recently, Sloane and Exer. The women care for their mates, and their stomachs are all rounded with pregnancy, but there’s always whispering. Because while life remains relatively mundane and safe, the underground camps set up on Hethdiss are only a small part of the planet. The bubble of safety Prince Korben has created continues to stretch, and some of the girls have burst right through it. And it’s not pretty.

Phoebe used to be easily excited and infuriatingly naïve, but since her trip to the forests with Ellis, she’s fallen unusually quiet. Some wonder if Iriel’s overwhelming devotion is snuffing out the flame that used to burn inside her, but she promises everything between them is consensual. Still, her expression remains haunted when she’s saying yes, and Phoebe’s second admirer, Drazal, realizes that if he wants it to stop, he can no longer idly stand by as her friend.

This is where Abducted by the Alien begins.

  CHAPTER ONE

  Phoebe

He’s kissing me, and yet, I feel nothing.

I’m not complaining. This is the way things need to be if I’m going to survive on Hethdiss. I only wish Iriel’s touch didn’t leave me feeling so empty. Other women I’m on this assignment with don’t look the same way I feel. Blythe’s mated to an exiled prince named Korben, and she always has her infant Kyeth cupped to her massive breasts. York’s labor was quick and painless, and though her mate is terrifying, their little boy Yazrik (who everyone calls ‘Yaz’) is gorgeous considering he’s half-alien. Both women hustle and bustle around the underground lairs, and now that York is free of a ten-pound inconvenience, she’s moving around like she was never pregnant in the first place. Ellis is next in line, and then Sloane and Layla are right behind her. This place is slowly filling up with babies, and though I’m excited, it’s hard to get jazzed when I haven’t celebrated my nineteenth birthday.

That doesn’t mean I want to leave Hethdiss. There’s comfort in routine, and since I’ve seen what’s out there, I’m no longer as carefree and worry-free. There are monsters in this universe who will rape anything without fear of consequences. And that’s not the worst of it. There are monsters in these woods, and if there are monsters here, I don’t want to think about what’s waiting for me beyond Hethdiss.

So, I let Iriel kiss me. He keeps asking if it’s okay, and I keep saying yes, but my heart isn’t in it. I don’t want to be alone. I don’t want to end up the only human on Hethdiss without a partner when this assignment ends. I don’t ever want to spend time with the unfamiliar. Hethdiss is familiar. Even the small, microscopic part we’re allowed to visit, is something familiar. And safe. Do I want to leave? No. Do I want to kiss Iriel? Not really. Each time we make out, I feel like I’m screaming at the top of my lungs for him to stop, but of course, he never does. Because I never scream. I lay there, accept his kisses with
my eyes closed, and try not to think about alien monsters called dilewilers.

I pinch my eyes more tightly shut as Iriel moves his attention to my neck and my shoulders. He’s older than me, as far as alien age goes, but it wouldn’t have mattered to me if he was thirty. I need a security blanket, and Iriel promises he can keep me safe from any monsters. He says Drazal can’t take care of me. After all, weren’t you with Drazal when you first saw the dilewilers, he’d ask? If you saw them once, you will see them again unless you stay with me. Iriel promises if I stay with him, I’ll be safe. I don’t have to give him babies if I’m not ready. He only wants a warm body beside him at night. A woman of his own. A female who belongs solely to him.

  Romantic, right?

I arch my back when Iriel’s hard-on presses painfully against my inner thigh and push him away. He’s panting hard.

“Are you all right, Fee-Bee? Did I hurt you?”

“No.” I glance to the side, not wanting our eyes to meet. I’m screaming at the top of my lungs for him to go away and leave me alone. I don’t want his kisses. I don’t want his touches. I want to be left alone.

But I can’t do that because I need him.

I somehow manage to muster up enough courage to speak.

“I’m going to head back to the Gathering Room.”

“You’re not staying the night?” He doesn’t stand when I do, and I cross the floor of his privacy lair to the opening and push the heavy curtain aside. Iriel’s smart enough not to force me to do anything, but his eyes narrow with possession. And a challenge. “Will you feel safe going alone?”

I grimace. Ugh. There it is. Playing on my fear. I can’t deal with it tonight. Iriel’s lair is burning hot with the five sun rayers (which are basically heat lamps) blazing from all corners of his room, and I’m already sweating like a fat kid during gym class in elementary school. Somehow, I manage to send a smile his way and shake my head.

“I’ll be all right, Iriel. Thanks though.” I hope I sound convincing.

“I’ll come to check on you.”

He’ll never know if his words reached my ears because I’ve already shut the curtain and begun my trek back to the Gathering Room. It was bursting at the seams when we first arrived on Hethdiss. So crowded, despite being split into groups when we first came. Lately, though, it’s barren. Most of the other girls are with their mates or milling around and cooing at Blythe and York’s babies. I’ve heard many assignments in this line of work are solitary, so I’m happy to be with nineteen other women. But it’s still hard. Most of the girls are considerably older than me, and the ones who aren’t, seem to fall into the role of pregnant with an alien baby, with ease.

Blythe and Ellis are both twenty-five, so I guess it was close to their time anyway.

York, Layla, and Sloane are all a few years younger, but being pregnant in your twenties isn’t anything Hethdiss shattering.

The ones who aren’t pregnant? Well, they’re probably not far away.

Except for the State Girls. They would probably never allow that to happen.

Chilly as ice Alaska, and bad as a badass can be Arizona, probably aren’t considering the idea of getting pregnant. They’ve been space entertainers since a few years after I was born, and I can’t picture them stopping now. I mean, yeah, the Sidyths are attractive. What guy wouldn’t be handsome at seven feet tall with bulging muscles and long, thick hair? What girl doesn’t want a guy to wait on them hand and foot and worship them because they never imagined having a family after being exiled from their home planet?

But the State Girls are cooler than that.

Alaska, Arizona, Dakota, and even Kansas are who I aspire to be. Cool and calm. Do the dang thing and deal. I bet that even if some of them do want to stay, she’ll give an alien her body, but she won’t give him her heart.

Sigh. I wish I could be like that. But I’m not.

Despite hooking up with Iriel and giving in to him, no matter how I’m feeling, there’s another alien here who makes me tingly. Drazal.

I don’t want to feel these things for him. After all, Drazal is the one who put my life in danger. Because of him, I realized that just because I thought I was prepared to see things beyond my world, I would never truly understand the horrors of the universe until I witnessed them. And thanks to Drazal? I did witness them.

I never want to see them again.

Which means whatever I’m feeling thanks to Drazal, I have to ignore it.

Drazal isn’t safe. Iriel is. Safe, and protective, Iriel. Am I looking for a man or a mini-van?

Once I’m back in the Gathering Room, an invisible weight lifts from my shoulders. I’m sure it has something to do with Iriel being so far away, but I would never admit that out loud. I need the girls to think everything happening with Iriel and I is because I want it. Prince Korben is huge on consent, and while that probably doesn’t sound like it should be such a big deal, it is because most aliens think of humans as being the lowest of the low. Sexy monkeys. So it’s a big thing that the Sidyths don’t treat us that way. And therefore, it’s a bigger deal that Prince Korben, Blythe, and the others want to make sure Iriel isn’t pressuring or taking advantage of me.

And so I play my role. I want it. I like it. I like him. And that’s that.

“Didn’t expect to see you here anymore.”

A deep, baritone voice startles me away from thoughts of Iriel, only to find myself face-to-face with the only alien on Hethdiss who makes my lady parts tingle. I stumble away and lift my chin, taking in Drazal who’s standing before me. I want to ask what he’s doing in the Gathering Room, but I’m pretty sure I already know the answer.

“Iriel hogs the bed.” I try saying this with an easy-going expression, but I’m sure he knows it’s a lie. Drazal never calls me out, but there’s always a slight tick on his right eyebrow when I’m lying. “I wanted my space tonight.”

Drazal hums and nods, glancing around the Gathering Room over my head. There are only a few girls left here tonight, and the best rocks are still available for the taking. Without saying a word, I cross the room, settle in and pull one of the fluffier looking throws over my bare legs. Drazal follows, and it’s hard not to take him in like he’s some super sexy celebrity. He would have been a sexy vampire. God, I miss TV. But Drazal isn’t a bad replacement. Not a bad replacement at all. He’s tall and streamlined, with rippling arms and powerful thighs. His hair is dark and shorter than some of the other Sidyth’s, but he keeps it clean and soft looking. I long to run my fingers through it to see if it feels as silky as it looks. And he’s young, like me. It’s his eyes that tell me that. They’re wide and soft, and liquid gold. They make me melt when I look at him, so when he draws near, I lower my gaze to the fuzzy throw.

“Things are going well with you and Iriel, yes?”

“Well enough. Iriel is…” I trail off, unsure how I want to finish this sentence. Is there a proper way to finish this sentence? Probably not. “He hogs the bed.”

A twitch. “You said that already.”

I blush furiously. “Oh, yeah. Right. I guess I did.”

“But he treats you well, yes?”

I swallow hard. Every time I run into Drazal, he asks me about Iriel. Most of the others do too, but Drazal’s questions affect me differently. When Drazal asks, the truth bubbles to the surface. I want to tell him things aren’t okay. That even though I’ve always said yes to Iriel, deep down, I’m screaming that I want him to stop. Don’t get me wrong, Iriel’s never been aggressive. He’s never forced himself on me. But that doesn’t mean, ugh, it’s too complicated to explain.

I button my lips together and shrug,

“Shouldn’t you be watching the halls, Dranzal?” a new voice chirps, and I jump again.

  “Alaska,” I breathe like a slack-jawed idiot. “H-hey.”

“Hiya.” She’s frowning, but not at me pointedly. She’s mostly looking at Drazal, and I guess we’re both pretty surprised because none of the State Girls spend much
time in the Gathering Room. But here I am and here is Alaska and Dakota. Both blonde. Both stunning. Both incredible women who I aspire to be.

Drazal straightens, not bothering to correct Alaska’s crude wording of his name. “I merely wanted to see if she was all right.”

“Aren’t you going to ask me?” Dakota asks in a syrupy sweet voice.

  “And me?” Alaska purrs.

Drazal’s eyes narrow as he backs away. “I will speak to you later, Phoebe.”

My heart skips a beat when he strides back to the Gathering Room opening. The flex of his muscular ass is out of this damn world and those thighs, ugh. I shake my head. I shouldn’t think like this. Iriel. I’m with Iriel. Iriel’s safe. Iriel doesn’t care (or notice) if I feel nothing for him and never will, so long as he has a mate of his own.

“Was he bothering you?” Alaska asks, sitting down on the rock next to me. Dakota remains standing. “You’ve got to be careful with these guys. They don’t always understand the word ‘no’.”

  “I’m fine,” I promise.

  “He wants you,” Dakota notes.

“And you’re with the grumpy looking one, right?” Alaska asks.

“Iriel.” My shoulders slump. “Yeah. We’re together.”

“So you’ve got to tell that one to leave you alone,” Dakota says. “Wave him off or something.” She makes a shooing motion with one hand before snickering.

“Wait,” Alaska says, smiling. “Is he… are you…” she lowers her voice, “… are you hooking up with both of them?”

  “Bitch,” Dakota says, giggling. “Jealous.”

  “Super jealous.”

“I’m not hooking up with Drazal.”

  “Do you want to?”

I spin toward Kansas, swallowing hard. “W-what?”

“I asked, do you want to? Do you want to hook up with Dranzal instead of the grumpy one?”
