Glass Souls (Reflection Book 1) Page 46

I looked at my feet seeing no shadow of my body. Only the shadow left by my clothes. My heart felt free like nothing could weigh it down. The only reason I did all of this was because of others. Luna for protecting me, giving me the Mirror Stone, and Loic becoming a Formless in my place. I wouldn't be here without them. I would not let them down.

"Thank you, Chase. I will. We will shatter the impossible together. I swear to you we will get Loic and Luna back. I swear it. Eraperp rof raw!!" I declared again.

He smiled at me and patted my head.

"That's the spirit kid." He laughed. “Now if you excuse me, I have a king to track down.”

“Track down? You don’t know where he is.”

“To protect him and the direct members of his court the location is shifted around constantly.”

“Wait why wasn’t Isha with him then?”

“I’m not entirely certain, all I know is once we find him, I might have to protect him from her.” He laughed but sighed, scratching his head. “Just sit tight and continue your training while I search, it might be some time. You may have some hard times as well.”

“I realize this, I’m expecting the nightmares to get worse.” I gripped the notebook tight. “Chase…I’ll…”

He put his hand up and turned back to me. “Don’t worry about it Rayne. Just keep your chin up. That’s all I can tell you to do.”

I held the notebook tight against my chest and made the promise in my heart one last time. Ensuring that no matter what, I would finish this. I looked at my hands. They began to tremble like I had just woken up from a nightmare.

Thinking back on it, the real nightmare hadn’t even begun.
