Isr Kale's Journal (The Alchemist Book #4): LitRPG Series Page 32

by Vasily Mahanenko

Pulling writing materials out of his inventory, Isr Kale was about to sit down when he cursed. The little bastard had stolen his favorite chair! Bending over the journal, he began to write.

Entry 77991. Tailyn Vlashich is turning into a serious opponent. He found the first provost, returned magic to the world, made me run around like some messenger. I’m afraid that if the boy realized who I actually am, the myth that Isr Kale died will disappear. I’ll have to do something about the teachers—they won’t let the founder of Crobar continue to occupy my position. My library and the globe are gone, presumably also stolen by Tailyn. The academy’s whole security system is down thanks to divine intervention, though I wasn’t able to figure out why that happened. One more piece of news is that Lavr Nalin’s notebook found its way to Tailyn, and he decoded the recordings. He must know where the dragon’s blood is now, so I have to handle that immediately. Even worse, my assistant was destroyed. I’m going to have to ask the emperor for one of the destroyers.

The man finished writing out his thoughts and closed the journal. Almost as if waiting for that moment, the game informed Isr Kale, founder of the mage killer school who later became provost at the academy, of a new problem. And it turned out to be much worse than the first.

The Absorber arrived on the planet.

  Modifying functionality.

Mark Derwin was back on Earth 2. And Isr Kale knew the Absorber would have too many questions about what had happened in the distant past. His nerves already on the edge, his shaking hand was barely able to hold the intercom steady. Finally, he regained control and dial a number only he had.

“I know,” the booming voice replied in lieu of a greeting. The emperor always talked in that tone. “He’s back.”

  “I accept your offer.”

“Finally. Together, we’ll destroy Mark Derwin, though we’ll start with Tailyn Vlashich. Nobody in this world should have the ability to resurrect. That’s my privilege!”

  * * *

Tailyn woke up and looked around at the familiar interior. He was in Mean Truk. Shocked by that bit of news, he tried to jump up only to find that his body still wasn’t obeying him. The boy’s gaze settled on the regeneration timer telling him he had another sixteen hours left to go until he was fully restored, meaning he’d only been unconscious for eight hours.

Valia was right next to him, smiling as she bent over her betrothed. The boy was just about to say something nice to her when the space between them was darkened by divine messages:

All four emperors, the academy provost, the Crobar patriarch, and black lix Halas signed a truce and joined their forces with the aim of destroying Mean Truk and Tailyn Vlashich.

You have been given the following bonuses to maintain balance:

The cost and duration of all construction projects in the city have been reduced by half.

You have 3 months to prepare for the siege. Use your time wisely!

  ***

Tailyn Vlashich, the Absorber is looking for you.

  About the Author

Vasily Mahanenko is a fantasy author working in the new genre of LitRPG - the MMO-based fantasy and sci fi. His Way of the Shaman series took Russian literature by s
torm in 2012.

Vasily dipped into his college-days insider knowledge as a hardcore gamer in order to create a believable world of the virtual-reality MMO game. His bestselling series combines fiction and video games, telling the story of Shaman and his friends stuck in the ruthless reality of Barliona. He used his more than ten years' experience as an ERP implementation project manager to approach his writing in a well-organized manner, working to a strict schedule, a set of deadlines and even a budget. At the moment, the series boasts six novels with the seventh one in the works - this time the author expands on stories of Shaman's companions and those who helped and supported him in his trials and tribulations.

The English translation of The Way of the Shaman series is now available to the English-language reader in its entirety. So is his other LitRPG series, The Dark Paladin. Vasily’s latest project to date is also set in the world of Barliona: The Renegades (The Bard from Barliona Book #1) LitRPG Series, co-written with another Russian author, Eugenia Dmitrieva.

Vasily's other passion is space exploration which is why he works on a sci fi LitRPG series entitled Galactogon. Set in a space-simulator based world, the series is already available in English on Amazon.

He’s also released a graphic novel series based on his bestselling series: The Way of the Shaman Comic Book. The English translation of the first two installments are available here and here. Alternatively, check the book on the author's site: http://mahanenko.ru/en/Comics-1.
