Children of Enochia Page 41

“On the order of several hundred jumps, at the very least,” Johnny interjected, in a passable imitation of Alton’s voice. “Yeah, I remember, Captain Downerpants. Now can we please just say ‘next stop, Earth,’ for the love of wrinklies, before I scud this nice fancy flight seat of yours?”

Alton arched one strong, dark eyebrow at him.

I just smiled. “Next stop, Earth?”

  “Next stop, Earth,” Elise agreed.

James took up the mantra, followed by Franco. Alton turned to Phineas, looking, more than anything, curious as to whether the decidedly human display would conclude with or fall short of the quiet, pragmatic bear of a man.

“Next stop, Earth,” Phineas grumbled with a shrug.

Alton let out a soft sigh, shaking his head. “Very well, then.”

The thrumming built throughout the ship, until I could feel the vibrations in my teeth. I clutched Elise’s hand tighter—painfully tight—and felt her clutching right back, both of us transfixed on the all-consuming void of dark space around us, the thrumming building stronger and stronger by the moment.

  “Next stop, Earth,” Alton said.

  And then we jumped.

  THE END

  A Letter from the Author

  Sweet Alpha, we did it.

And so ends the Enochian War trilogy—the second series I've ever published. (Though, funnily enough, the FIRST series I ever started writing.)

I sure hope you enjoyed it, Dear Reader.

As I'm finding out (with my oh-so-impressive sample size of two), it's not the easiest thing in the world, drawing a beloved series to a satisfying end.

For one thing, if I've done my job right, by this point in the stage, I love my characters every bit as much as the next Book Fan. And who wants to say goodbye to the people they love—fictional or otherwise?

For another, it's a lot of pressure, trying to flush out that tenuous path where all the decisions feel "right," and all of the heartstrings properly caressed, just so.

I won't lie. When I first attempted to finish this book, I was worried I'd missed the mark. So worried that I stepped back and went to write another entire book before coming back to try to get this thing right. I THINK I'm even pretty happy with how it turned out.

But this isn't about me. I've had my time with the story.

  It belongs to you now.

(You know, in like a TOTALLY more heartfelt way than for the simple fact that it is now loaded on your phone or eReader or whatever…)

  *ahem*

Point is, I just wanna say thank you for coming on this adventure with me, Dear Reader. I truly do appreciate it. So much so that I’d love to give you a free book and keep you around for more. (And that’s not even the GOOD news!)

The good news, my friend, is that, if you're still licking your lips longing for more Enochian shenanigans, the story isn’t quite over yet.

Which brings us right back to that FIRST series I ever published…

Wanna know what happens when Hal and crew reach Earth?

Damn skippy, do I have some rollicking answers for you.

It’s called the Harvesters Series. And more importantly…

You can grab the first book (Red Gambit) for free right here!

(You can also click this link to buy Red Gambit from your book retailer of choice, if you so choose.)

If you enjoyed the Enochian War trilogy, I think you’re gonna love seeing how our heroes’ stories continue on Earth. (Fair warning, you’ll have to wait until the second book to actually see them, but I’d like to think it’s a fun time even before then.)

And if you've already devoured everything I've written to date, then have no fear. (Aside from perhaps the very rational fear of just how awesome you in fact are… *hugz*) The Excalibur Knights series is in full swing, and it'll be coming to you just as quickly as my tippity-tappity little fingers can manage. Fun times are ahead!

Lastly, if you know someone who'd appreciate this trilogy as much as you (hopefully?) did (maybe?), I'd love it if you brought them into the fold and shared these books with them.

Similarly, if you'd like to share you thoughts with readers at large, I'd be grateful to hear your feedback in the form of a review wherever you bought the book! You can find all the review links for the book right here.

Whichever way we go from here, I'm so glad you came along for this ride!

Here's hoping you’re sticking around for the next adventure.

  Happy reading, my friend!

  About the Author

Luke is a storyteller whose dreams include learning the ways of the Force, becoming a sentient robot, and maybe even one day growing up. Also, lots of zombies… Don't ask.

Oh, and that "growing up" bit? That was a lie.

After studying engineering science at Penn State and neuroengineering at Drexel, Luke finally decided to throw in the towel on building a working Iron Man suit and opted instead to simply make things up and write them down. Boy, is he having more fun now.

If—for some wonky reason—you’d actually like to talk with Luke, he’d probably be glad to hear from you!
