3. Out of sorts
I was feeling grumpy and stepped outside. With no one to complain to or about I told my shadow, "You're mean!" How was I to know that my shadow was shy and sensitive? He ran away and for two long days I walked around without a shadow.
Everyone else had one.
I felt funny without a shadow.
Other people pointed at me and whispered.
In the middle of the third day I was walking out to the pick-up truck and realized I had a shadow again. It felt good to have one again. Softly I whispered, "Good to have you back," and since that day I have not said anything to make my shadow mad or hurt his feelings.
4. A scary storm
A storm was coming in with all of its rumbles and cracks. My grandson moved over close to me. So, I told him Mother Nature is cleaning her room. She uses wind and rain to do the job. When she is happy with her work she likes music so she asks her band to play. Listen to their music. A little too loud on the symbols and drums but I guess it's her kind of Rock and Roll.
5. Words
What if words on a page could move around? Would not all the words want to be first, get to the head of the line? Often a story starts with little word like "the", "a", "on", or "in." Would poor little words like that ever have a chance to be first if a big word like "important", or "responsible", or "sometimes" or "yesterday" wanted to be at the head of the line, wanted to be first? And how would a page in a story book look with all the words first?
6. Dandelions
"Just dandy ... just dandy. Don't go outside. They're all over the place, all over the yard. If you go outside the lions will surround you. The lions might even attack you. They will get you! Stay inside, be safe. Oh, you want to just look ... do you? Well, okay look ... but don't go outside," I said opening the door.
"Grandpa those are dandelions, little yellow flower-not dangerous lions," my smiling grandson told me.
