  Prologue

Keara cleared his throat before walking in. The other three followed him inside. They stood there looking at me.

  “Ready, Reena?” Keara asked me.

I sat down on the bed and nodded my head yes.

Then they all began to undress, altogether. My eyes grew wide as I watched my four alien husbands take off their clothing. I did not know it would be like this. I was one woman, a human female, with four Dains. These were the ruthless aliens that had conquered Earth. Yet they were looking at me with desire. Each of them had something going for them, and they were all sexy as hell. I watched as they exposed themselves to me. Their flawless blue skin was beautiful. Ripped arms were covered in tattoos. The sides of their heads were shaved with three rows in a design.

These alien men were about to make love to me. All of them. But they did not know my secret. If they did, they would probably kill me. They would hate me. They would turn from lovers to enemies again. But at this moment, I could not think about that. I could only think about the fact that my body was responding to them. Just watching them get out of their dark gray uniforms was turning me on. I hated myself for it. This was the race of aliens that had decimated Earth. They had darkened the precious sky. They caused the apocalypse. They had decided that not all humans were worth living and created a new world. Despite all of this, here I was, about to receive exquisite pleasure from them: all four of them.

“Stand up, Reena,” Keara said to me.

I did as he asked. I stood up while I watched them taking the last bit of clothing off. They now stood in front of me in perfect form. I was turned on just by looking at their toned abs, their ripped biceps and muscular thighs and of course, their hardness.

My mouth began to water, and my heart began to race. This was really going to happen. I was not dreaming. In this apocalyptic world, things had become so crazy. I had lived in the underground. I had seen battles. I had loved and lost, and many other things, but nothing as crazy as this had ever happened to me. This was a turning point, and I knew that I would not find my way back from it.

  Chapter One

  Reena Okova

  2304 —Chicago Ruins, Lake Michigan

This was it. This was the moment that it would all come down to. Those that were being pushed off to the left were screaming and crying, begging not to be killed. Those that were pushed off to the right would be saved: for now. Though their fate was possibly much worse than those that were just being killed.

“Step up, human female,” the large blue alien man said to me. He had the sleeve tattoos just like the others. His dark gray uniform was a shell top, exposing his biceps. He had the signature hair that was shaved on the left side in three lines and parted over to the side: long locks. This one had platinum white hair. My heart was beating fast. In less than ten seconds, I was about to know my fate. Would I be pushed off to the left and killed for not being a virgin human female, or would my plan work, and I would be pushed to the right, into the virgin camp? This was what I had been waiting for. This was the moment I would know if it all had worked. If my husband’s plan had worked. If he had been given the real thing, or a fake.

The alien pressed a tool against my bicep that looked like a pen. He pressed the top of it and a needle shot quickly into my arm and then retracted back in. It hurt only for a second. Like a bee sting. He pulled the tool away from my arm. It had just taken a drop of my blood to scan. He waited as the lights on the tool moved around in a circle, processing. I held my breath. The anxiety was overwhelming, but I had to keep my cool.

The light turned purple. I sighed in relief. If the light had turned orange, I would be sent to be killed.

“This one is a virgin and does not have the virus. Push her through to the virgin camp,” he said.

Another alien grabbed me and pushed me into a line on the right. The line was filled with very young women. That made sense considering that most women gave their virginity to a boyfriend, lover, or just out of curiosity by the time they were in their early twenties, if not before. I was assuming that I was the oldest one of this batch. But of course, I was lying. I had to, or the Dains would kill me. They were the ruthless aliens doing this to us. They were the ones that caused the apocalypse. They had destroyed our precious Earth, and now they were the masters of it.

“Hold out your right arm,” he said.

I held my arm out. He grabbed it and pressed a square against the inside of my wrist. My wrist got warm and tingled a bit. Then he pulled the square away and went to the next girl in line.

I looked at my wrist. I now had a black tattoo on it that read X89-908.

I looked at the girl next to me looking at her wrist. It read X89-909.

“Take this group into the camp cell block X89 to wait for auction,” the tattoo artist alien said to an alien guard with heavy artillery hanging across his body. He led the line while another took up the rear, making sure that we stayed in line.

I was relieved that I had passed the test, even though I was faking it. But it was good for now. It would buy me some time at least, and that was what I needed. I needed all the time I could get even though I myself was a ticking time bomb.

I looked up at the sky as I slowly walked to my new fate. It was a very dark gray, making it seem almost night time even though I knew it must be the middle of the day. The gray sky was a product of the great war aftermath. Something that the aliens did to the sky whenever they arrived and waged war on Earth. They thought that blocking out the sun would kill off the humans quickly, but they weren't expecting us to fight back.

But after years of war, they finally won. We weren't a match for their technology. Most of the human population had grown sick with a virus, one that was transferred through sexual activity. It wiped out a majority of the human populations very fast. That was when the Dains arrived. They came with a message that they were here to eradicate the sick humans from Earth, to give the planet to a race that deserved it—themselves. So they waged war; their agenda was to wipe out as many human men as possible. Then they were going to repopulate the Earth with hybrid offspring. But they did not want just any human females. They wanted to make sure they were getting huma
n females that were not infected with the virus, so they were only taking virgins. That was how I found myself here, being led toward a virgin camp.

“In here. Move!” the alien said, pushing the line further into a very high metal gate. It was a chain link fence, but almost twenty feet high. There would be no escape from there.

“Find any bed that is empty,” the alien said closing the gate behind us.

There were about twenty of us in line. In front of us were several rows of small cottages. They looked simple enough. I went all the way down the aisle to the back and saw a cottage with the door opened. I stepped inside. There were bunk beds, three of them. One of them looked like it had not been used. There were two women sitting at a table that looked at me with wide eyes. I cleared my throat.

“I just arrived. Can I take that empty bed?” I asked.

“Yeah, come in. My name is Hazel, and this is Nadia,” one of the girls said as she stood up to shake my hand. She had jet black hair and green eyes. The other girl had brown hair, olive tan skin, and brown eyes.

“My name is Reena,” I said as I moved to the empty bottom bed of one of the three bunks. I sat down. I looked around the simple cottage. There were a table and chairs, a sink, a window, and that was it.

“No bathroom?” I asked, already knowing that in my condition, I was going to have to pee a lot.

“Two cottages down. It is a communal bathroom, the way it used to be in college dorms. There is also a communal kitchen, with tables set up in an outdoor area. You will see,” Hazel said.

  “Thanks.”

“You come from the outside? Or have you been in the system already?” Nadia asked.

“From the outside. I was in the underground. My husband was killed a month ago, and I've been on my own. I was in the vast sewer systems but had to come to the surface for food. That's when I was caught, yesterday. Then they brought me here.”

“What's it like out there? In the underground? Any talk of they plan to fight back, take the Earth back?”

“No. Not some big plan, just the same resistance that it has always been. But I have heard of nothing, no grand plan. No factions coming together to fight against the Dains,” I said looking at the two women who are looking at me as though I could deliver them hope. But sadly I couldn't.

“See, Hazel, I told you. It is nothing but hearsay,” Nadia said.

“No. It is not. There are rumors; we have to believe them,” Hazel said.

“What are you talking about?” I whispered.

They looked around and motioned for me to join them at the table. I got up and moved to them and sat down at the table.

“It is just that I heard from one of the other girls that was in here, a month ago. She has gone now, auctioned off. But she said that she heard one of the Dains speaking about a rebel group that was fighting against them. But that was all that she said she heard,” Hazel said.

“Maybe she was just thinking about the resistance that is still out there,” I said to them.

“No. I don't think so. I think it is more than that. Something bigger, otherwise why would the soldiers even be talking about it? The resistance out there has always been, and it is dying. They have killed off all of our human men,” Hazel said.

“It is nothing. Rena is right; it is just the same resistance that has always been,” Nadia said.

Suddenly there was a loud ringing bell, very digital sounding.

“Come on, that is our cattle call. It is time to eat,” Nadia said standing up.

“Yeah, come on, we will walk you over there. Just under your covers, mess up your bed so that if anyone new comes in, they know that your bed is taken,” Hazel said.

I did what they said and then walked out of the cottage with them, down the aisle toward the back. It was set up like a cafeteria, aliens serving food on plates. I grabbed a tray and eating utensils. I followed the two women; I was surprised. The plates were full of food, lots of good stuff. My stomach grumbled just looking at it. I had not eaten so well in years. There were cooked vegetables, salads, baked bread, and white mash that looked like mashed potatoes, but it couldn't be. We were given a large jug of water for each tray. I could not believe it. The entire time living in the underground practically starving and the virgin camps are eating like royalty.

I followed Nadia and Hazel to a table, a long one. We took the very end and sat down.

As soon as I sat down, I dug in, greedily eating from each section of the plates. First, I tried the white mash; it did taste like mashed potatoes, but something else, perhaps mashed cauliflower. The sautéed vegetables were delicious. I took a big chunk of the bread. It was then that I realized that Nadia and Hazel were staring at me. I looked up at them.

They both laughed at me a little.

“Trust me; we were both the same way when we first came here. Can you believe the food?”

“No. I can't. Why do they feed us so well? They keep us prisoners, kill off our people, and then give us amazing food? That does not make sense,” I said with a mouthful.

“Yes, it does. We are being plumped up, kept in good health; we are breeders now. They want healthy women to create healthy offspring, and the only way to have that is to feed us well. Give us nutrition, plenty of water,” Nadia said.

“Oh, I see,” I said suddenly looking at the food like it had betrayed me. I ate much slower, but there was no use. I was very hungry, and I cleaned my plate with the last piece of bread that I had left. I chugged the water jug, to wash it all down. It was important to stay hydrated. I couldn't just think about myself now; I had someone else to think about, to take care of.

“So what is the deal here? Are we allowed to roam around freely?” I asked.

“Yes, only within our block. You will see it is entirely fenced in. But you see that,” Nadia said, pointing along the fence line inside. There was a well-worn path.

  “Yes.”

“That is a walking path that we've pretty much made ourselves after years of being here. I know that from the others. I have only been here a few months. But after dinner everyone usually takes a stroll around it, getting some exercise. But we will show you. We will show you the communal showers, and water well. They pretty much allow us to roam around this entire cell block, visit your friends and other cottages. Sit outside in the grass or on these tables. We just can't get out. Can't go beyond the fence,” Hazel said.

“Unless, of course, your number is called,” Nadia said.

I looked at my wrist, at my number. “How does this work exactly.”

Nadia and Hazel looked at each other, and then looked at me.

“Once a week, they call us to the outdoor kitchen area. They call out numbers, and if your number is called, they take you to the auction areas. then, so what we've heard is that you are cleaned and primped up and then put on display to be auctioned off to a group of Dains.

  “A group?”

“Yes, sometimes three or up to five. You do know?” Hazel said.

“I don't think that she does know. She has been underground, remember?” Nadia said.

“Because there is a shortage of human female virgins, and with the virus and everything, you are given to more than one Dain. Usually, it is three but up to five of them, and you go live with them as their wife. You are to be with all of them. They say it is to increase the chances that you will get pregnant by at least one of them. You will have three or five alien husbands,” Hazel said.

I looked at her with wide eyes. I knew that they wanted to be with human females to create offspring, but I didn't know that they made sure the humans got pregnant by making them have sex with more than one alien. I stood there shocked.

“Looks like she didn't know,” Nadia said to Hazel.

“How many days until the calling of numbers?”

  “Tomorrow,” Nadia answered.

I grew panicked. I thought I would have more time. But it seemed like getting picked was very rare as far as just having your number called. Then at the
auction, they would pick you. Since there was a shortage of human female virgins, I was sure that almost all of them were bought. This brought great frustration over me. I thought I would have more time to figure it out. But having to have sex with not just one Dain, but maybe five of them, and live with them would make it harder to hide my condition. They would kill me instantly.

“I am feeling tired. I think I'm going to go lay down,” I said. At first, I thought I would take a walk and use the showers, but as they told me the information, I felt exhausted. I had been through a lot getting to the point of coming to this camp. I needed to sleep as much as I could, and it wasn't just for myself. The rest was good for me; it was good for us.

The next morning, I went through the routine with the other girls. We got up, ate breakfast, I went to the communal showers to take a shower, and then stayed in the cottage for a while. I was nervous. Before dinner was going to be the number call. I did not have a good feeling about it.

I did a quick lap around the walking trail just to calm my nerves and to get my blood flowing. Then I waited with everyone else in the sitting area outside.

“Come forward if we call your name,” a Dain said. I really hated them. I despised them for what they had done. Yes, Earth was under attack from a virus and the populations were doing the link, but that did not leave us open to be conquered by an alien species. I hated them for what they did. I hated them for killing Richard. The thought of having to be with one made me feel disgusted, but having to be with three or five of them? That was just beyond anything I could deal with.
