With her hands over her mouth, Avia nodded, crying even more. “I love you guys. I love you all so much. You have no idea what this means to me.”

Kissing her cheek, I took her hand, leading her out to her new car. “Take me for a drive. Maybe next week, you and I can go pick out a Harley for you. My treat, remember?”

Things have turned out even better than I thought they would?

  Avia

  One year later…

“Where you headed?” Brittany called out to me as I left the garage apartment I rented from her and Carl. She was outside in the backyard, watching her kids play.

“Off to go eat lunch with Lyle. Then I’m going to the library to check on a couple of computers they called me about. This freelance computer tech gig is a real goldmine.” I headed to my car. “As a matter of fact, I’ve almost saved up enough money to put a down payment on that house I’ve been looking at for the last month.”

“Oh, the nice two-story white stone?” Nodding, she agreed, “I love that one too. The four bedrooms, the five baths, that huge backyard too, I think it would be perfect for you.”

“Me too. Once I’ve got a home, then I can move forward from there. I just want that stability under my feet, you know?”

“I get what you’re saying. How much more money will you need?” she asked.

“Nope, I’m not telling you, Brittany. I know you. You’ll figure out how to make that amount come my way if I let you in on that.” She’d been very helpful. But I wanted to do something as big as getting my own home, on my own. “Thanks, though. You’re a sweetheart and I love you.”

“Love you too. Give Lyle my best.”

Getting into the car that Sandra had given me, I always stopped for a moment to offer up a silent prayer for all of those who’d been so giving to me. Not a day went by that I didn’t appreciate their help and their friendship.

Driving to the café in town that Lyle had asked me to meet him at, I saw his bike parked in front. I hadn’t let him buy me a bike after all.

We’d gone to the Harley shop and I got on one that was a size deemed good for me. And I was as scared as a rabbit when I rode it the one black that I could make myself go.

Riding behind Lyle was much better anyway. And the sex on his bike was off the charts. I didn’t need my own, when I had him to drive me. And he drove me insane with that machine of his.

Walking inside, I found him sitting at a table alone. I went over, kissing his cheek before I took a seat across from him at the booth he’d chosen. “Afternoon, handsome.”

“Good afternoon to you too, gorgeous.” He took my hands, holding them across the table. “I ordered us a pizza and a pitcher of beer.”

“Okay. I’ve been thinking about tonight. I’ve got drinks with the ladies. But after that, I’m pretty sure I’ll be feeling frisky. What do you say to an overnight visit?”

“What do I always say to that?” he asked with a grin.

“Yes.” I wiggled my eyebrows. “But I like to ask first. You know, just in case you’ve grown tired of me. One never knows when that will happen. Did you hear about Tom and Nancy? They’re getting a divorce. After sixteen years, they’re calling it quits. And they were together for the last two years in high school too. Eighteen years in all, Lyle. I don’t get it.”

“That’s a long time to be together.” He ran his thumb over my knuckles. “Maybe they never got a chance to sow their wild oats. They did get married in the summer after graduation. I doubt they’ve ever even had sex with anyone but each other.”

“How cool.” I had often wished I’d taken Lyle up on his many offers in the old days. He and I could’ve gotten married right out of high school too. And then all the bad stuff would never have happened to me.

“I think it was cool for them for a long time. But now they must want something else.” He leaned back and let my hands go as the waitress brought our pizza and beer, placing them on the table.

“Here you go.” She stepped back. “Anything else?”

“No, thank you, Natasha.” I smiled at her. “Your mom and I are going out tonight. Would you like to babysit, Puffy for me? It pays ten bucks.”

“Sure, bring her over when you pick Mom up. I love that little poodle.” She left us to our meal, whistling happily now that she knew she’d get another ten bucks that day.

“She’s saving up for her own car,” I told Lyle. “Her dad told her he’ll match her savings. So far, she’s got two-grand. She’s going for six though.”

“Does Pete have six-grand to match that?” Lyle asked with raised brows. “He’s a groundskeeper. Do they make that much?”

“Well, Roe will help out if he doesn’t have it. Since she’s been working with me in the freelance computer tech gig, she’s putting away a good chunk of change herself.” It made me happy that I’d taught her what I knew and helped her make a career too. She’d been working as a cashier at the same grocery store for years. Just one freelance job paid her what her checks at the store had been. She made six times that amount now.

“Yeah, I bet she is making bank.” He took a drink of his beer then asked, “So, should I clean up my bike for tonight’s action?”

My thighs clenched with the idea. “Please do.”

“And how about a little rope?” he asked. “Think we might need that too?”

Being tied up, face down on the seat of his bike proved very interesting. “Sounds fun. Should I wear a dress and heels then?” He loved ripping my panties off after shoving my dress up around my waist, then antagonizing my pussy until I begged him to put his big cock into me.

“Most definitely wear those things. I love the way the heels bring your ass up to just the right height.” He bit into a piece of the pie as he looked at me. “I’m gonna eat you up.”

Chills pimpled my flesh. “And afterward, I’ll suck you dry. How about that?”

“On your knees, in the garage, while I sit sideways on my bike. Wear bright red lipstick too. I like the way that looks when your lips slide up and down, and up and down.” He winked at me then took a drink of beer.

I fanned myself. “You’re making me hot. If I hadn’t already made the plans with my girls, I might just ask you to take me home with you right now.”

“Nah, it’s better having to wait for it. After your time with your friends, go to your place but don’t go inside. I’ll come get you on my bike. That way, your cunt will be nice and juicy from the vibration of the bike ride.”

I had to fan myself as heat built inside of me. “How can I say no to that?”

“You would be a fool to say no to that.” Reaching into his pocket, he slid something across the table to me. It was a thick envelope. “I found a buyer this morning.”

Taking the envelope, I opened it, seeing the many bills inside. “How much did you get for it?”

“Fifty-eight thousand.” His eyes sparkled. “It’s more than you wanted.”

“It is.” I put the envelope into my purse. “Thank you for selling that for me, Lyle. If I’d done it, it might come back to haunt me.”

“I know. The last thing from your past is gone now. That ring was it.” He took my hands again. “So, what are you going to do with all that money?”

“Something good, Lyle. Something very good.”

I hope he thinks the same way I do about this.

  Lyle

  Six months later…

Driving over to the address Avia sent me, I wondered what she wanted me to see. The neighborhood was upscale with some of the most beautiful trees in Baltimore lining the pristine streets.

Her car was parked in the driveway of a gorgeous two-story, white stone home with a black, iron gated fence around it. Three chestnut oaks shaded the backyard from what I could see.

I’d never been in the neighborhood before. And I didn’t know why Avia was there. Pulling up behind her car, I got off my bike, then put my helmet on the seat. “So, why did you get me to come over here? Who li
ves here?”

She took my hand, smiling slyly as she led me to the large gate at one side of the garage. “We’re going to see about that.”

“This is a great lawn. The grass is so green. And those chestnut trees are cool. Can you imagine – all the chestnuts you want – right at your backdoor?” I figured it was one of her client’s homes. Maybe they wanted to talk to me about a new security system or something. Avia was always getting me side jobs with that sort of thing. Since she’d come into my life, I’d made more money on the side than I’d ever made. She was like a little leprechaun, finding golden nuggets all over the place for herself and others.

“It is cool, isn’t it?” She tugged me along with her to the backyard. “And there’s a swimming pool too.”

“Nice.” I wasn’t that much of a swimmer. But the pool did look refreshing. “They’ve got it made.” I looked up at the back of the house to judge what all I’d have to secure there. “That’s a lot of windows.”

“Yes, it is. There’re four bedrooms, five baths, a living room, a formal living room, and a den. Plus, the kitchen has a breakfast nook off to one side and a formal dining room to the other side. And all the way at the end is a solarium. You know, a room with the entire roof made out of the most beautiful windows. It’s filled with plants of all kinds. It’s a very comforting spot in this big home.” She went up the back steps then took me inside. “This is the game room. See how it leads out to the pool area?”

“Yeah, this place is cool alright.”

Still, she tugged me along. “Come this way.”

“As if I have a choice. You’ve got a death grip on me. You really don’t want me getting away from you.” I began to wonder who lived here. “You don’t have to worry. Even if the lady who lives here is a knockout, she can’t come close to comparing to you, baby. I only have eyes for you, you know.”

As we went through a short hallway, I smelled something cooking. “Smells good. Are they feeding us too?” My stomach growled in anticipation. “Is that lasagna I smell?”

“It is.” She laughed, the sound echoing in the large home. “Lasagna with meat sauce, heavy on the meat.” Stopping in the large kitchen, she gestured to a stool at the island bar. “Just the way you like it, right?”

Avia hadn’t been one to cook that much. But it seemed that she did recall something I’d said when we were back in school. “It’s my favorite meal. Did you tell the people who live here that I like that? Or what? What’s going on? You’re being so cagey. So weird. So not like yourself. Do they want me to do a security system for them or what? Is the meal to get me to give them a low price? What have you promised them I’d do?” I wasn’t sure what she was up to.

“Just sit down here for a moment, please.” She patted the seat. “It’s nice and cushy.”

The barstools were nice, and they did look comfortable. “Okay. So where are these people anyway?”

“Around.” She walked around the island bar to go to the fridge. “Care for some sparkling apple juice?”

“Not quite my cup of tea, baby.” Her frown had me changing my mind. “But sure.”

“Great!” She pulled a couple of champagne flutes out of a cabinet then filled them with the juice she’d taken out of the fridge. Coming to me, she handed me one as she held hers up a bit. “To us. Drink up.”

“Okay, whatever, silly. To us.” I tapped her glass with mine then took a drink as she did the same. Something hit my lips as I took the drink and I pulled the glass away from my lips. Looking into the bottom of the glass, I saw a circular object at the bottom of it. “What’s that?”

She took the glass from me, then stuck her fingers into it, fishing out what looked a lot like a golden wedding band as she sunk to her knee.

On one knee with a ring in her hand, she had me frozen in place as I stared into her green eyes. “Lyle Franklin, I’ve bought this home. I’m hoping to share it with you. If you’ll be my husband, that is.”

“You want to marry me?” I wasn’t entirely sure that’s what she meant. “And this is your home?”

Nodding, she sighed as she held the ring up. “I also bought this for you. I want to share my home and my life with you, Lyle. Do you want to share your life with me?”

“Let me get this straight, you are asking me to marry you and move in here, right?” My head began to spin. “Like – you want me to live in this amazing home with you and you want us to be husband and wife?”

“And I want us to have babies too. I’m ready for a family. A family with you, Lyle Franklin. So, will you marry me and make me the happiest woman in the world?” She wiggled the ring at me. “And wear my ring?”

Running my hand over my face, I never saw this coming. That’s how life with Avia was – I never saw any of it coming. And I adored that about her. “Yes.” I took the ring out of her fingers and put it on my left hand right where it fit perfectly. “Seems it fits. Just like you and I do.”

Her hand shook as she looked up at me. “You’ve made me so happy, Lyle. I can’t wait to marry you and start having our babies.”

Picking her up, I held her in my arms. “I can’t wait to do that with you.” Our lips met, sending fireworks bursting in my brain.

I think we just might’ve found our happily ever after.
