Just One Night: The Raven Brothers Book 4 Page 4

by Kaylee, Katy

The memory of feeding Morgan the food of my creation, and watching as she thoroughly savored and enjoyed the morsels as they should be enjoyed, was etched in my brain for posterity. What was it about her that had our kiss running in a loop in my brain? Only in my brain, I didn’t stop at just a kiss. Last night, I went to bed with that kiss still sending endorphins through my system. I’d had no choice but to grab my dick and start stroking. With the taste of her still lingering on my lips, I imagined releasing those magnificent tits, burying my face in them, and sucking on hard nipples. Her lips were soft and sweet, and immediately my fantasy morphed into her dropping to her knees to suck me off. I hadn’t come so fast and so hard since I’d jacked off to thoughts of my English teacher.

“Earth to Kade.” My brother Chase’s voice broke my reverie.

“What?” I sipped my drink to chill the burn growing in my pants.

He stared at me for a moment, then he nodded toward a waitress over by the bar. “She’s trying to get your attention. Do you know her?”

I frowned. “Why would I know her?” I glanced her way. I didn’t know her. A few days ago, though, I’d have gotten to know her.

Chase’s brows pulled together. “Why are you annoyed?”

“Hunter was the ‘girl every night’ guy, not me.”

Chase looked over at Hunter and then Ash, who shrugged.

“Maybe it’s the maid of honor,” Hunter said.

  “What about her?” Chased asked.

“Kade was feeding her, but it looked like foreplay,” Hunter said, taking a swig of his beer.

“Wrong,” I said a little too quickly.

“Really?” Ash asked. Then he frowned. “She’s a good person with a lot going on, Kade. Don’t fuck with her.”

“Jesus.” I sat back and stared at my brothers.

Chase laughed. “I think this is a first. We’ve finally pushed Kade back on his heels and he’s speechless.”

Hunter laughed too. Ash stared at me with a serious expression. The oppositional part of me wanted to tell them to go to hell and then leave. I could only imagine what Grace’s assessment of that would be. Probably something about Chase tapping into my feelings of insecurity. I didn’t feel insecure. Not anymore. But I’d spent much of the early days working for my father having to prove myself to my brothers. I couldn’t say how many times they’d called me immature and told me to grow up. They’d have said it regardless of my behavior, so for a time, I figured I’d earn it.

But since my father enacted his fucked up inheritance plan, I’d seen changes in my brothers. First Chase, when he fell in love with Sara. And then Hunter, who was calmer and happier with Grace in his life. And then Ash, who’d been a sorry sack since he graduated from college, apparently because my father had come between him and Beth. Love of a good woman, not my father’s crazy scheme, had changed them. One could argue that love was my father’s crazy scheme, but only Chase had set out to meet my father’s demands, and his intentions didn’t involve love. It involved buying a wife. The love thing was quite by accident.

The rest of us had been biding our time until Dad changed his mind again. Hunter was forced to seek professional help, through which he found Grace. Ash reconnected with Beth when he bought out her brother’s share of their club, Jet.

Speaking of Jet, and wanting to get off the subject of women, I asked. “Why aren’t we at Jet?”

“I was worried Ben might try to guess where we were,” Chase said.

The waitress in question showed up at the table, standing close enough to me that I could smell her cheap perfume. It was a far cry from Morgan’s lavender vanilla scent. “Can I get you guys another round?”

Chase nodded. “Make it doubles. Save you the extra trips.”

  “I don’t mind,” she cooed.

“I’m gonna use the can,” Ash said, getting up from his chair. As he strode toward the back, a woman approached him. He gave her a friendly smile, but waved her off.

“Seriously, why are we here? None of us are interested in these women,” I said. “Unless wedded bliss is getting you two down.”

“Not me,” Hunter said, with an annoying grin that suggested he and Grace had some interesting bed habits. “Maybe you, Chase. How long since you and Sara — ”

Chase held up his hand. “Just before I met you guys here.”

I gaped. “She’s about to have a baby and you’re fu — ” I stopped; I didn’t want to disrespect Sara by using the F-word. Instead I finished with, “Give her a break.”

Chase laughed. “It’s not me. It’s her. She’s horny as hell. Plus, I think she read somewhere that sex can bring on labor.”

Hunter seemed to ponder that, which made me wonder if he and Grace were working on adding to their family.

“I’m thinking that’s too much information,” I quipped.

  “You asked,” Chase said.

“Hunter asked.” I shook my head, and then downed a large gulp of the drink our waitress set in front of me.

“What’s up with you?” Chase asked.

“What do you mean?” I rolled my shoulders, feeling antsy that I was about to get a lecture.

“You seem out of sorts. It’s not like you to let a pretty woman pass you by. Or to not be scoping out your next lay. Unlike the rest of us, you’re free as a bird to sow your oats.”

I shrugged. “None of them interest me.”

Hunter leaned forward and gave me an intent stare. “When was the last time you — ”

“Hunter, what’s the deal with you asking about our sex lives?” I snapped.

He just grinned. “You’ve got blue balls, don’t you?” He sat back in his chair with a smug smile.

I did. Sort of. The problem was, my balls, or more accurately my cock, only wanted one woman. A woman Ash suggested I needed to stay away from.

“I’m just being more discriminating.” I looked down at my glass as I wiped condensation off the edge.

Chase slapped a hand on my back. “I do believe baby brother is growing up.”

I shoved his arm off me. “If I am, I’m doing it earlier than any of you ever did. You were over thirty, weren’t you, Chase?”

“He’s still an asshole,” Hunter said with humor in his voice.

Chase laughed. “He’s not wrong, though.”

Ash rejoined us at the table.

“The junk working right?” Hunter asked. “You’ll need it to be full throttle tomorrow night.”

Ash grinned. “Oh, it will be working alright. What did I miss?”

“Turns out Kade here might be growing up,” Hunter said.

“He’s pointed out that he’s maturing earlier than we did,” Chase added.

“How can you tell?” Ash asked.

“He’s not interested in a single woman in this place,” Chase answered.

“None? That one over there looks nice.” Ash pointed to the woman who had approached him.

My brothers looked at me. I shook my head.

“I’m telling you, it’s the maid of honor,” Hunter said. “Did you see him feeding her last night?”

I glanced at Ash, wondering if he was going to warn me away again. He frowned as he looked over at me.

“What about it, Kade? Have you got a hard-on for Beth’s friend?” Chase asked.

“My dick is none of your business.” I took another long swig of my drink.

“That sounds like a yes, to me,” Hunter said.

Ash leaned forward toward me. “I’m not going to tell you how to live your life—”

“Except you’re about to,” Chase said.

Ash glared at him and then turned his attention back to me. “If you like her, then okay. But she’s not a one-night fuck buddy.”

  “Calm down, Ash,” Chase said.

Ash sat back and took a deep breath. “I just don’t want her to get hurt. She’s got a lot on her plate with her ill mother and trying to make ends meet.”

Ill mother? “You’re a billionaire, why do
n’t you help them?” I asked.

“We’ve tried. She and her mother are stubborn. They don’t want our money unless they work for it. Beth and I are trying to find a loophole around it that won’t make her feel like a charity case.”

“Speaking of charity,” Hunter said. “What’s the deal with giving Ben a job that he’s not doing?”

Ash sighed. “I keep hoping he’ll come around.”

“Around the bend? Because his life is one long bender,” I said.

“The good news is that he’s not slowing us down,” Chase said. “But he is dead weight.”

“I’ll work on it. But it’s my bachelor party, so I’d rather not think about it tonight.”

“Since we’re not going to partake of the women, why don’t we head over to the Lampshade?” Hunter said, suggesting the quiet bar in Midtown.

We all agreed that it was a good idea. Twenty minutes later, we were in a booth sipping our drinks and talking like four brothers who gave a shit about each other. Not that long ago, I couldn’t have imagined spending an evening drinking with my brothers. For the longest time, we were all at odds with each other. Then slowly, Chase, Hunter, and Ash grew closer and I felt like the fucking step-brother, odd man out. But not tonight. Tonight, I felt like I had their respect and friendship. I still thought my father’s plan was crazy, but I had to admit that it changed the relationship between us four brothers. I doubted it was what my father was shooting for, but it was a nice result.

Later that night, I lay in bed, recovering from another orgasm thanks to Morgan and my great imagination. Ash’s words came back to me.

If you like her, then okay. But she’s not a one-night fuck buddy.

There was no doubt I wanted to fuck her, but it was more than that. I wanted to introduce her to all the foods she hadn’t experienced. I wanted to cook with her. I wanted to know more about what she liked to cook. I wanted to help her and her mother. That was more than wanting a fuck buddy, right?

In the past, I’d been with interesting women, but for both of us, the goal was an orgasm, or two or three. I wanted an orgasm with Morgan, but that wasn’t all that I wanted. What did that mean? And did she feel the same about me? She’d been totally into tasting my food and talking about food. And I was sure she was as into that kiss as I had been. It had been so fucking hard to pull away from her. That kiss was like a fast-acting drug. One hit, and I was hooked. But I’d been so concerned about going too far, too fast that I’d pulled away, and then rushed off to avoid fucking her there in the alley; so I hadn’t paid too close attention to her reaction.

Tomorrow was the wedding. I’d have a chance to see her again. To eat with her again. If I was lucky, to kiss her again. Hell, maybe I’d get a chance to see her naked. I reached over to my bedside table for my phone. In five minutes, I’d reserved a suite in the hotel where Ash and Beth’s reception would be held. Just in case the heat turned up between Morgan and me. It never hurt to be prepared.

My cock agreed and sprang to life again at the thought of seeing Morgan in all her luscious naked glory. Wrapping my hand around it, I began to imagine all the things I wanted to do to her, and all the things I wanted her to do to me until I unleashed another load of cum on my belly. Wiping it with a tissue, I finally settled into sleep with a smile on my face.

  Morgan — Friday

It wasn’t easy, planning a bachelorette party when one of the guests was extremely pregnant. Not that Sara wouldn’t hang out at a bar with us, but it probably wouldn’t be as much fun for her. Besides, Beth had become extremely sensitive to extreme drinking, no doubt due to Ben’s excessive drinking. It was hard to admit that he’d become an alcoholic. I wanted to believe he could stop anytime he wanted, but clearly that wasn’t the case. Or maybe he just didn’t want to. It was definitely changing my opinion of him. Not that I wasn’t sensitive to addiction, but I resented that he’d become so self-absorbed that he was hurting Beth.

So instead of bar hopping, we were food hopping, an idea I got from the lesson in food I got last night from Kade. We started with Italian, which I knew was a favorite of Beth’s. I put her in a shiny tiara with pink sash that announced her as “Bride to Be,” and had her sit at the head of the table as we ate family style pasta.

“God, I love this place,” Beth said as she sat back and rubbed her belly. “I hope I fit in my dress tomorrow.”

“Take a breather. We have much more to do,” I said. “Here is your first gift.” I handed her a box.

Beth took the flat box and ripped the paper, her eyes gleaming. “I love presents.”

She pulled the lid off and looked in. Her eyes filled with tears. “Oh, Morgan.” She pulled out the delicate silver frame that held a picture of her, Ash and Hannah, drawn by Hannah. “My baby is so talented and sweet.”

Sara and Grace oohed and ahhed when Beth held up the picture.

“She’s a very happy little girl,” Grace said.

Beth lifted a brow. “Are you psychologically assessing my child’s drawing.”

Grace laughed. “Yes, but even without it, I can see she’s a happy little girl.”

Beth sighed. “I can’t believe we’re finally going to be a real family.” She reached over and put her hand over mine. “Thank you for pushing me to let go and trust him.”

I didn’t feel like I’d made much difference in how things worked out, but I smiled. “See, fairy tales do come true.”

  “They really do,” Sara agreed.

  “Yep,” Grace chimed in.

I’d have to take their word for it, although it didn’t feel like they’d come true for me. They were all so smart and beautiful, it was no wonder the Raven men loved them. Of the three women, Sara was the one who had a background closest to mine in terms of having limited resources and a history of struggling financially. But she was so beautiful even with a belly the size of a beach ball. All of their husbands looked at them like they were the center of the universe. I envied them their fairy tales, even as I was so happy for them.

“You’ll get yours too,” Beth said, as if she realized I was the one single friend.

I smiled because I didn’t want to bring her down by sharing my woes. “Onward ladies,” I said when they finished. Our next stop was a Korean place that had the best wings and karaoke.

“Oh my god, I hope you don’t expect me to sing,” Grace said as someone belted out a very bad rendition of a Whitney Houston song.

“Perhaps a drink will help,” Beth suggested.

We took a seat and we ordered drinks, including a virgin drink for Sara, and wings. “Come on,” I said to Beth pulling her to the karaoke stage. She grinned like a loon as Sara and Grace whooped at us.

“Remember the last time we did this?” Beth said as we chose our song.

“You’d just graduated from high school.” Her family had just arrived back in the Hamptons for summer. I’d remembered how hard my mother had worked to get the house in tip-top shape for Beth and her family. I was just glad that my friend was coming back to the Hamptons for the summer.

“That was a wonderful summer. I lost my virginity that summer,” Beth said.

  “Let me guess, Ash.”

She grinned. “Yep. God, what a long hard road we’ve been on, but look where we are.”

I smiled, so happy for my friend. I pulled her on stage and we did our old-time favorite from our teenage karaoke days, Thank You For Being a Friend.

When we finished, we had a standing ovation from Sara and Grace. “You two need to take that on the road,” Sara said as we got back to our seats.

Beth laughed. “What do you think, Morgan. Can we make a living from that?”

I shook my head. “I think Ash and Hannah would miss you if you went on the road.”

  “She’s right.”

“These wings are awesome,” Sara said licking her fingers.

“They’re not bad,” I said sitting down and taking a sip of my lemon drop drink.

  “You sho
uld taste Morgan’s wings,” Beth said. “I envy Hannah all the wonderful meals you’ve made for her.”

“She’s my sous chef.” I had a bit of sadness knowing I probably wouldn’t be cooking with Hannah as much anymore.

“I saw Kade feeding you last night,” Sara said. “What did you think of his food?”

“I think she would have liked to eat him up,” Grace said.

My eyes shot open wide. God, had it been obvious?

“Who wouldn’t?” Beth said, sipping her cosmopolitan.

“Are you just talking, or is there something there?” Sara asked. “I swear, this baby has made me less aware of what’s going on around me.”

  “There’s nothing,” I said quickly.

  Grace quirked a brow.

“You have to watch out for, Kade,” Beth said, her features turning serious. “He’s a player.”

I waved my hand. “It’s not like that. We both like food, that’s it.”

“I don’t know. Food is very sensual, especially the way Kade was feeding it to you,” Grace said.

“I’m not his type.” My drink was finished so I looked for our waitress to order another one.

“What do you mean?” Beth asked.

“I mean, I’m not his type.” When the waitress arrived, I ordered a plain soda. I wanted a drink, but I needed to keep my wits about me so that Beth had a good party.

“You’re a woman and like food. I think that’s his type,” Sara chimed in.

I pursed my lips as I stared at Sara. “The women he’s normally with don’t like food, which is why they weigh less than a hundred pounds dripping wet.”

“Don’t underestimate a man’s attraction to a woman with curves,” Grace said.

“She’s right,” Beth said. “But I’d be careful around Kade.”

I blew out a breath, hoping I could change the subject. “We’ve got more places to go, ladies.”

“I’m really not going to fit into my dress,” Beth said.

“I’m loving it,” Sara said. “I swear I could eat an elephant.”
