Chapter 15; Madlin Regent
Another situation was now critical. There were no Menzi heirs of ascendable age living. Mina was eight months short of eighteen. It was decided by the Council of Advisors that Madlin Medio, Aldo’s Empress and mother of the heirs, would ascend to Regency. She would hold this position until an heir reaches proper age.
Madlin took the Crown seriously. Even as Regent, she was a good leader. Always behind the scenes, she had done much for the Empire as Crown Princess and as Empress. Now as their military leader, she showed a blood thirstiness that surprised many of her children. Taking advantage of the recent huge losses suffered by the Admiralty, she made creative use of her new fleet to consolidate the quadrant they had just captured.
With out prompting and to her advantage, ambitious outer sector War Lords attacked the Admiralty positions from their home bases all over the galaxy. The Admiralty was still suffering deeply from the losses they had suffered at Borealis Minor. Now, Rebel War Lords were attacking on all sides. There were simply too many fronts for them to concentrate on attacking Madlin. Madlin had no such problems. After defeating some of the bigger War Lords in her sector, the rest just joined her side against the Admiralty in a loose confederation. She made good use of the recaptured ships. Warrions were redistributed and rearmed with the new ships. She and her partners kept up the pressure on Keeth’s forces everywhere.
Adding to her known resources was the super secret fleet of Pedra’s new light fighters. Battles were turned in their favor by those Wolf Packs. For a time, it looked as if the Royal Family might even turn the tide as they started reclaiming large areas of the galaxy.
