And then, finally, he said, "Because it's the truth. And I want everyone to know it."
I didn't even have words, of course—by now I guess you know I hardly ever do. I had to show him instead, but Kelly's used to that. Never complains either.

I guess that's why I wanted to write this down—why I couldn't sleep for thinking of it. The whole story, from the day I met him to last night's poetic exhibition. To make sense of my own luck. To keep me honest. To prove to myself that this isn't a dream.
And in some distant future, when we're old and bent and the kids are long gone, to fill in the cracks in our memories. To laugh over together.
Because even if his speech wasn't, this story is true. And I want someone, at least, to know it.
