The Fifth Survivor - Epsiode 1 Page 7

by Angel Ramon

After punching George, he falls to the ground. Afterward, Mr. Z tries to perform a double axe handle on him. George is barely able to roll out of the way as Mr. Z punches the floor instead of George. When George gets up, he sees Mr. Z is open for attack and he shoots it in the head a couple of times. After those shots, Mr. Z falls to the floor.

  Magnum Ammo: 7

Once Mr. Z falls to the floor, George sees an ammo pack fall out of jacket pocket and he picks it up.

Picked up +6 Magnum Rounds. Magnum Ammo: 13

He isn’t sure if Mr. Z is dead though and he doesn’t risk finding out. So he decides to explore the rest of the 4th floor. Walking down the hall, he sees some zombies pop out from one of the patient rooms.

He easily shoots the two zombies as they come out towards the hall.

  Pistol Ammo: 29

  He decides to heal himself.

  George uses the Super Herb.

  Condition: Fine

George kills the zombies and enters the room to see if he can find any key items. When he enters, the rooms give him an eerie reminder of when he was in the hospital fighting his constant heart attacks.

“I remember this place too well. Never thought I would ever have to come back here. Well, just my luck I guess. Wait… what’s this?” He says as he picks up a note.

  The Raven Hawk Experiment

“To the staff of Woodhull Hospital, we the Hybrid Corporation are purposing that you help us conduct experiments on a few selected individuals. We want to see what happens to certain individuals when we apply the Raven Hawk Vaccine. We are aiming for more of the “cancer” demographic to see if out new breakthrough can indeed defeat cancer.

However, we want to take this even further and bring in animals such as dogs, spiders, and frogs to see if it works on animals before we try humans. Of course, humans are riskier because we have different systems than animals. The testing shall commence on the animals on the 12th floor of your facility. While this is for the better of the medical field, we don’t want anybody possibly stealing our secrets or exposing our experiment pre-maturely.

As for the human testing, we shall start with the patients on the fourth floor as that is where you have indicated that you have cancer patients. However, we expect the results to start kicking in right away as this is rather strong stuff.

We are offering quite the contract as well. Please let your president know. While we can’t say how much we’re offering, it is quite a bit that will benefit the hospital and will put some extra money in your pockets.

Please consider this offer carefully and be aware that this is a time-sensitive offer.”

“Hmm… at least I know how Hybrid was able to swindle the hospital to run their sick experiments. I gotta say using cancer as a front makes me sick but rather clever at the same time.” He says after reading the memo.

Looking around the room, he is sickened by the views of the machines that are inserting the Raven Hawk Virus into human patients who were suffering from cancer.

“Those Hybrid bastards are cashing in on these poor people who have cancer. Damn it, this is gotta stop. Even if it means I get fired from my job as a journalist, this is gotta stop!” He says angrily.

He begins to use his mini camera to take pictures of the room with the machines and the color of the Raven Hawk liquid which is purple. He gets the positives and puts them in his pockets.

“This should help in my case to bust these guys and put them in hot water.” He says after gathering his evidence.

“While I would like to get to the 12th floor, I gotta get out of here.”

Once he gathers his evidence, he continues down the hall and enters the pharmacy where he spots a shaft blocking the path down the hall. He tries to kick the shaft, but it doesn’t budge. Looking to his left, he sees the electrical room and enters.

Entering the electrical room, he sees a power supply and tries to activate it.

  Power Supply for the shaft.

The power level must be 80 after flipping the five switches. If you flip up, you will increase power by 36. If you flip down, you will decrease power by 14. Too much power will short out the supply, too little will not be enough to release the lock.

George is not necessarily the smartest egg in the bunch and has a bit of a problem in solving the puzzle. He decides to flip the first two switches up which adds up to 72. Then he flips the next switch down and the last one up. It adds up to 94, which is too much.

The circuit breaker trips the power supply and prevents it from being fried. He decides to calm down and does the math in his head.

George flips the first three switches up and gets to 108. Then he flips the last two switches down. The meter hits 80 on the nose and all of a sudden the power supply turns on. Once it turns on the shaft opens up and access to the rest of the 4th floor is open. He sees a couple of pickups in the room before leaving.

Picked up +6 Magnum Rounds. Magnum Ammo: 19

Before he leaves the pharmacy area, he sees a door leading to the pharmacy that is locked.

A Keycard is required to unlock the door.

Seeing the door is locked, he heads beyond the unlocked shaft and when he leaves the pharmacy area he enters the hallway. When he gets to the hallway, he hears the wall shaking. After a few seconds the wall breaks and Mr. Z pops out from the wall giving chase to George.

“What the hell do you want?! Who are you?!” He asks in shock.

He pulls out his magnum, but Mr. Z slaps it from his hand. Mr. Z tries to perform a double-axe handle on him.

  Press “A” and “B” to dodge… Good!

He rolls to his right dodging the attack. The magnum is next to the door leading to the pharmacy. He runs to the run but his momentum causes him to slip back onto the floor. As a result, Mr. Z is able to catch up and grab him.

After grabbing him, Mr. Z throws him towards the door. George gets up quickly, but before he’s able to grab his gun the creature lands a punch on him dealing some damage.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

He is unable to reach for his gun and his pistol is too weak to attack the creature with.

“I gotta find a way to get to my magnum or I’ll have no chance to beat this monster.” He says as he tries to get his magnum back.

Mr. Z attacks George again with another punch and deals even more damage to him.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

When George gets up, he sees an opening between Mr. Z’s legs. However, he is in pain after the two punches he’s received in the battle. Despite that, he fights through the pain and crawls under the creature as quickly as he can.

Despite the painful crawl, he’s able to get his magnum and begins to shoot at Mr. Z a few times.

  Magnum Ammo: 16

Despite the shots, Mr. Z doesn’t go down and the creature grabs him again. Mr. Z begins to choke George and he begins to run out of breath quickly. Due to the amount of pressure applied, he drops his magnum once again. George gets a second wind and tries to kick his way out, but Mr. Z is far too strong for George’s kicks. He’s able to somehow pull out his pistol and take aim at Mr. Z’s head. He is desperate to pull the trigger and after a bit of a struggle he’s able to pull the trigger.

The shots land right on Mr. Z’s eyes, which blinds it. He’s able to escape the clutches of the creature and catches his breath. As George catches his breath, Mr. Z holds it’s eyes and kneels down in pain. Seeing Mr. Z down, he uses the opportunity to grab his magnum by the pharmacy door.

Once he grabs his magnum, he shoots a few shots until the creature goes down on the floor hard.

  Magnum Ammo: 13

After taking down Mr. Z, he sees a keycard fall from its pockets. He picks up the keycard…

  Picked up a Keycard.

George CHECKS the Keycard and turns it around. The Keycard reads “Pharmacy”.

Once he sees that he has picked up the keycard, he uses it to open the pharmacy. After opening the pharmacy, he enters and sees the stor
e for the most part has been ransacked.

There are a few zombies in the store. He kills two of them easily with his pistol. Before he can get comfortable though, a zombie from his right side tries to grab him. The zombie does grab him, but he uses his pistol to whip the zombie in the head to prevent it from biting.

After pushing it away, he blows its head off with his magnum.

  Pistol Ammo: 22

  Magnum Ammo: 12

Once he clears the area, he sees a green box on the counter.

Picked up a First Aid Box.

George opens the box and finds a First Aid Spray.

George uses the First Aid Spray

  Condition: Fine

After healing himself, he hears a loud scream coming from the 5th floor. It sounds like a young girl is in trouble.

“Could that be Maria? If so, I better get up there. She might be in big trouble!” He says after hearing the screaming.

Is the girl upstairs screaming actually Maria? Has George actually killed Mr. Z or will the relentless Mr. Z continue to stalk him throughout the hospital.

  Chapter 5

George rushes out of the pharmacy and doesn’t see Mr. Z anymore. He looks around to make sure that the superhuman is not trying to surprise him. With the coast being clear, he runs up the stairs following the female screaming.

Going up the stairs, George is met by a couple of zombies who get up from the floor. Wanting to save his magnum ammo, he uses his pistol to shoot the zombies. He shoots three head shots killing the first zombie easily. The second zombie dives towards his feet and begins to bite his legs.

  Pistol Ammo: 26

The zombie takes a bite off his right leg, but George fights through the pain. Using his left foot, he stomps the head of the zombie. The brain of the zombie pops out along with all the fluids including blood. The scene is enough to cause him to gag just a bit.

Holding his urge to puke his guts out, he heads up the stairs to the fifth floor and uses the key to open the locked door. Entering through the door, he sees a sign indicating that he’s in the maternity ward. Walking through the maternity ward, he sees three giant spiders crawling along. The spiders are huge tarantula’s that have been exposed to the Raven Hawk Virus. Besides being giant sized, they also contain a deadly amount of venom that is used to poison their victims. There is a door to a janitor’s room that he rushes into as one of the spiders spits out a poisonous acid.

The spit hits the door barely missing George as he enters. He spots a few pickups inside of the janitor’s room.

Picked up a Pistol Clip. +15 Pistol Ammo. Pistol Ammo: 41

Picked up Magnum Rounds. +6 Magnum Ammo.

  Magnum Rounds: 18

Picked up a Green and Blue Herb.

Looking around the room, he finds nothing else. Arming himself with the magnum, he slowly leaves the room. As soon as he opens the door, one of the spiders tries to spit at him again with the poisonous acid. He avoids contact by staying behind the door.

George dives from the door and shoots two magnum rounds, killing the spider that tried to poison him. The second spider crawls towards him attempting to tackle him as he’s diving. His momentum carries him away from the spider. The spider ends up tackling the door leading to the incubation room, breaking the glass. With the spider’s back turned, he shoots three rounds killing the spider. The spider dies spilling a disgusting light green blood on the floor.

Paying too much attention to the blood, he is unaware of the spider that is behind him. The final spider in the hallway rushes and tackles him. After tackling George, the spider strikes him with its front two legs dealing decent damage.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

Despite being whipped towards the wall, he’s able to keep his magnum in his hand. The spider crawls towards him ready to deal a deadly bite. He has trouble getting up now that the spider is on top of him. With no chance to get up and only one bullet in his magnum before having to reload, he has to make his shot count.

The spider’s mouth creeps closer to him and he can see the spider’s fangs biting. With his right hand, he lifts up his magnum and is able to aim for the mouth of the spider.

“Oh man this had better work!” He shouts.

Squeezing the trigger with all his might, the bullet hits the mouth of the spider. The impact and size of the bullet penetrates the mouth and the bullet comes out the back of the spider. The spider screams in pain and hits the ground while green blood splatters out getting onto George’s suit.

“Eww… this stuff is nasty as hell. What did Hybrid do to these spiders? This stuff smells horrible as well. I just better be grateful that I’m alive!” George says.

  Magnum Rounds: 12

Getting up after being slimed by the green blood, he reloads his magnum.

  “Ahhhh!” The female screams again.

Hearing the screaming again, he begins to walk towards the noise. As far as he can tell, the screaming is coming from straight ahead in the hallway. He can see a door to his left which is locked and needs a keycard. The screaming can be heard again and he decides to not even try to bypass the reader. Rushing through the hall, the screaming becomes louder.

When George gets to the other side of the hallway to the waiting room, he can see what looks to be a young girl running. Before he can get any closer to the girl, he is hit from behind by Mr. Z who breaks through the wall.

“Help me! Don’t let that monster get me.” The young girl shouts.

The young girl runs in fear to the stairwell to her right and heads upstairs without George getting a look at her.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

Getting up quickly, he sees that Mr. Z is the monster who knocked him down from behind. Mr. Z delivers a haymaker that that George is able to duck under. With his magnum, he shoots two rounds into Mr. Z’s head. The two shots cause Mr. Z to backup, but not go down to George’s shock.

“What the hell is this thing? How did it survive two head shots? My God this thing is a freak of nature.” He says.

Mr. Z walks towards George who tries to shoot, but his gun jams up on him. The superhuman traps him in a corner. Mr. Z deals a strong right punch that strikes George good.

  Condition: Danger

Taking a bad hit from Mr. Z, he sees an opening between the superhuman’s legs. Despite his injuries, he crawls under Mr. Z and gets to the other side of the waiting room. He slams the magnum on the wall in an attempt to unjam the gun. The gun unjams and he sees Mr. Z turn around going after him once again.

Calmly aiming his magnum, he shoots his gun. It takes another three rounds to get Mr. Z to drop down to the floor.

“God damn it! I thought I was a dead man for a moment.” George says relieved.

  Magnum Rounds: 7

With Mr. Z on the ground, he takes a chance looking in its pockets to see if it has anything. Looking in his left pocket, he finds a keycard.

Picked up a Yellow Keycard. Checking the keycard, he reads that it opens the door to the research room.

George checks the other pockets on Mr. Z and finds nothing. Walking away from the superhuman, he heads to the door the young girl opened. The doorknob doesn’t turn.

“Damn she locked it! I gotta make sure she’s ok, who knows if that’s Maria?” George says frustrated.

He kicks the door as hard as he can until he realizes that he has to pull the door open. Refusing to waste time, he turns back to the maternity ward. Walking carefully through the hallway, he is shocked when zombies pop through the windows from the rooms to his left and right.

Trying to push his way through, he is grabbed by the zombie that is in the back of the horde. George pushes the zombie immediately as he can ill afford to take another bite. Running away, he tries to reach the research room but sees three more zombies are in the way.

Surrounded by zombies, he pulls out his magnum and shoots the three zombies in the head. They all go down without their heads as the blood pours from their necks.

  Magnum Rou
nds: 4

Conserving his magnum rounds, he holsters the gun in favor of his pistol. When he sees the horde of remaining zombies, he realizes he doesn’t have enough ammo to kill them all. He rushes into one of the incubation rooms and looks around for anything that might be useful.

Throwing everything in desperation, he eventually finds something that might prove to be useful.

Picked up Flame Rounds. These are flame rounds for a grenade launcher. They are useless without the launcher, but there might be another way to use them.

“Maybe shooting these will set the zombie bastards a blaze!” He says.

He throws the grenade rounds into the horde of zombies. When the rounds land, he carefully aims his pistol and shoots two bullets into the rounds. The flame rounds explode on contact and the flames spread onto the zombies. The flames spread so fast that the sprinkler system activates. The water from the system shuts the fire down quickly, but not until the zombies are charred to a crisp.

  Pistol Ammo: 24

“At least the sprinklers work in this God forsaken place, I better try to find some more ammunition. There’s no telling when I’m going to bump into that monster in the red coat.” He says to himself.

George enters the room to the right of the dead zombies. Looking around the room, he finds a couple of dead armed guards on the floor. He looks in the pockets and finds a pistol clip on both bodies.

+30 Pistol Ammo. Pistol Ammo: 54

He begins to feel the pain further on his arm and reluctantly uses the Green/Blue herb combination.

George uses the Green and Blue Herbs.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

The herb does little to cure his pain entirely and he begins to think that health items will be hard to come by. In fact, he begins to think that items in general will be hard to find.

“I might need to pick my battles wisely from here on out. As much as I want to save that girl, I need to save myself first.” He says in pain.

He heads to the other room through the broken window. Looking around, he finds nothing useful except for a blood stained journal on a chair. He opens the journal only to find many empty pages with the exception of the first page.
