The Fifth Survivor - Epsiode 1 Page 11

by Angel Ramon

When he escapes from the hospital, the mystery woman saves him again and actually leaves a note while riding off in a stunt motorcycle. It indicates that he should get out of New York City and meet her in White Plains. At this point, it is unknown where her allegiance lies or if she even has one. She can end up being his best friend or his worst enemy. He is concerned that he doesn’t know her but she already knows who he is. She’s either someone from his past or a spy for Hybrid.

Police Officer – In the hospital, George meets a police officer who saves him from a couple of zombies. The officer was called to the hospital when it became infected with zombies. Being the only one that George spots, it’s plausible that he’s the only survivor in his crew. He carries a .357 Colt Python Magnum that packs quite the punch. He leads George to the front entrance before they are ambushed by a horde of zombies. While George survives, the officer gets eaten alive by the zombies. The officer is in his middle 50’s but is in great shape for his age. After killing the zombies, George acquires the Colt Python from the dead officer.

  Bio-Hazard Creatures –

Zombies – What else needs to be said about these guys? They walk around mindlessly around looking for their next meal knowing their lives have been ruined after being exposed to the Raven Hawk Virus. A few of them who had great athletic ability turn into runners and can run after their victims. A few head shots are enough to take them down. They’re not much of a challenge, even for an old fart like George unless they’re in a horde.

Froggers – These are what the name suggest, frogs. Only difference is that these frogs have grown 10 to 20 times larger than their normal counterparts. It seems the Raven Hawk Virus has caused quite the ‘growing problem’. Besides the giant size, these frogs have long tongues they can use to grab their unfortunate victims so they can swallow them whole. Another form of attack is to spit a poisonous substance to poison their victims. Finally they can hop around the area, making them tricky to shoot. If you were afraid of regular frogs you might just die of shock when you meet these guys.

Web Spinners – Sounds like a really dumb name for a biohazard creature, but these giant spiders are anything but your ordinary spider. They are designed by Hybrid to weaken their opponents before killing them off. These guys can spit a rancid poisonous substance to weaken their victims before going for the kill. They can deliver a powerful tackle as well knocking the victim to the floor. They leave behind a nasty surprise even when killed. Green blood is seen whenever one of these spiders are killed and to add the blood smells terrible, we mean really terrible. Sometimes these spiders will create huge spider webs where they create their offspring.

Fun Fact: They were designed by Hybrid to be sent off to war zones to weaken soldiers and clear off those zones to build more headquarters to expand their empire.

Lizardas – Found towards the end of episode 1, these are mutated lizards. Some are iguanas, others are monitor lizards. No matter what they are, they both have one thing in common and that is their deadly claw attacks. Lizardas are also agile and can be tough to shoot. Unlike actual lizards, these can stand on their own two feet making them more dangerous. They bleed out blue blood instead of the green blood the other bioweapons bleed out.

  Bosses:

Mr. Z – A superhuman that Hybrid was working on. Rumor has it that it was kept on the 2nd floor of the hospital as no one ever goes there anymore. It’s Hybrid’s idea of the future human, but in reality it’s a freak of nature that wears a red trench jacket developed to chase those who dare challenge Hybrid. It can deliver quite the punch and it’s double axe handle is enough to kill any normal human instantly. Mr. Z can also pick up anything heavy with no effort.

The only weakness if you can call it that is its speed, it is a slow mover. It makes up for that with the amount of punishment it can take before it goes down. Even the magnum won’t take this superhuman down right away. You think it can’t get any worse? Boy are you wrong! Even when this monster goes down, it gets right back up resuming its mission to wreak havoc. It can’t get any worse than a monster that cannot be killed and almost impossible to take down. This is the monster that will continuously give chase to George throughout his experience in the hospital. Could this be the future war machine for Hybrid? That’s because it seems this thing is programmed to kill and it seems focused on its job.

Black Panther – This is a web spinner that apparently had too much in the way of the Raven Hawk Virus. It had so much that it’s become gargantuan in size and takes up a whole entire hallway. It has the same attacks as a regular web spinner, only that the damage it deals out is much greater. Also, the amount of venom it has is deadly to the touch, even a little touch. Even when this giant spider is killed, it leaves behind quite the surprise. Its green blood is so rancid that when it bleeds it out, it causes the people around it to vomit violently due to the smell. This is the only boss in episode 1 that is killed.

  Weapons:

Pistol – It’s just your normal pistol that George gets in the basement armory. It’s ok for zombies and it’s better than using your bare hands. However, for the bio-hazard creatures, it’s pretty bad. On the flip side, it’s easy to land headshots due to the low recoil. George should not expect this weapon to carry him throughout the hospital. Each pistol clip has 15 rounds.

Magnum – The second weapons George can get is a .357 Colt Python. It’s a great retro style weapon that deals quite the punch, even against the biohazard creatures. A head shot on the zombie will instantly kill it. The biggest drawback is the ammo or the lack of ammo for it. It can only shoot six rounds before having to reload unlike the Desert Eagle which has a clip size of eight. In otherwords, it’s a powerful weapon but it must be used wisely.

Dart Gun – Used to put human to sleep, useful for stealth missions. Won’t do much against the undead though. So keep that in mind.

DSK Deutsche – It’s an average sub-machine gun that does good damage with burst fire. Now if only George was smart enough to carry this in his briefcase.

UMP 45 – A nice looking machine gun and one that would solve George’s ammo issues. It’s not as strong as the magnum but it makes up for that with its rapid fire. Now this is a weapon that will get out 50 year old hero in style. Only there is one problem…

It’s broken! Yup, the gun does not fire and it has to be fixed. Now there is a way to fix the gun, but it involves going all the way to the basement to fix it. With Mr. Z hot on his trail, it might be worth it to just run instead. Too bad, so sad!

Flame Rounds – These are flame rounds for a grenade launcher, too bad George won’t have a weapon to shoot it. Maybe there’s another use for it?

  Health Pickups:

Green Herb – Heals partial health. It can be mixed with a red herb, blue herb, or both.

Blue Herb – Heals poison condition. It can be mixed with a green herb to heal health as well.

Red Herb – Useless by itself but it can be combines with a Green Herb to heal full health. It can be combined with a green and blue herb to create an ultimate herb that heals to full health no matter the condition.

First Aid Spray – Heals up to full health minus poison condition, which must be healed using a blue herb.
