Crisis averted. For the moment, anyway.
“Sounds good. The coffee and filters are in the cupboard above the coffee maker.”
As she finished the instructions and placed her foot on the first stair, Luc gripped her wrist and pulled her back in front of him. She couldn’t look up at his face, afraid to see disappointment in his eyes. She sighed and lowered her eyes to the sliver of carpet separating their feet.
“Little one,” Luc began, his voice carrying censure and compassion in equal measure, “lying to me is not acceptable. However, I’m going to give you a pass because today has been an emotional roller coaster, and I don’t want to contribute to that maelstrom. But make no mistake, in the future, lying or avoiding communicating with me will be cause for punishment. Do I make myself clear?”
Punishment? What the hell did that mean? A shiver lit a blaze of fire up Avery’s spine as she bit the corner of her lower lip, color blooming in her cheeks.
“Interesting. It seems my beautiful girl is turned on by the mere thought of punishment. I’ll file that away for future reference.”
Shit. No hiding her arousal from Master Luc. Why in the hell would the potential of being slapped on her ass or denied orgasm be so hot? Because it would be Luc administering the discipline he felt appropriate. Not to mention the screaming, body melting orgasm that would surely follow.
And my beautiful girl? Interesting indeed.
Luc and Avery’s story doesn’t end here. Their HEA comes in Show Me How to Live: Part 2, but not without a shocking twist that will leave you breathless.

Thank You
It’s said it takes a village to raise a child. This book has taken four years and a small city to finally come to life. There are so many wonderful people who have encouraged and inspired me throughout this journey to become an author. Please forgive me if I’ve not included you below. Just know I appreciate everything — positive and negative — you have all contributed. I’ve taken it all as a learning experience that I will forever cherish and hopefully become a better writer for it.
To Kim, Karma, Kathy, Laurel, Annabel, Erica, Jacki, and Becky. Thank you for your early feedback and advice as I learned about the craft of writing and the business of publishing. Your patience with my clumsy plot and endless questions was instrumental in kicking my ass to dive deep into the process and figure shit out. You know how I love a challenge. I’m truly grateful for your time and encouragement.
To my critique partner Lilith Darville. Thank you is inadequate to express my gratitude for you taking a leap of faith and asking a newbie to work with you. You convinced me I’m good enough to give this thing a go. I’m not sure I would be here today without you. Your insights into these characters have been invaluable and have shaped this story in countless ways. I can only hope I have contributed to your work in a small way. And you rock as a travel buddy!
To Judy, Sharon, and Mark. Thank you for your enthusiasm for my baby. You asked questions that challenged me to dig below the surface to polish my rough little gem. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
To my boys, Paul and Alex. You have supported and encouraged me all along. Your genuine desire to see me succeed at this thing of mine fills my heart. Thank you for letting me hide out in my writing cave so I could bring to life these pesky characters percolating in my brain. Fair warning — there are more clawing to get out and onto the page. I love you both more than words can say.

About the Author
Hélène Soper is a mom, wife, and Niagara Wine Country insider whose vivid imagination sometimes gets the better of her.
By day she’s a marketer, and at night her creative juices get a work out conjuring plot twists designed to keep her characters from falling in love. But inevitably they do have their happily ever after because who doesn’t need a good HEA in their life.
Her stories use kink as a tool for her characters to discover their true freaky natures and to forge a bond that makes even the bad guys jealous.
In her spare time, she loves sipping Niagara wine while reading a steamy romance novel with her two feline furbabies curled into her side.
