“Yeah, we did a really amazing job here,” I replied to Zack who was still standing beside me. “Next year we need to invest a little into the town and probably build a school. This year we need to homeschool all our pups but I want them to have a regular school.” I pointed to once certain minus this whole moving thing had. Besides the big city, it was easy to send our kids to the school with human kids so they practice their skills to blend with them. But here there was no school except for the first few grades. We would need to fix this. “But that would bring other people because you would need teachers.” Zack opposed me. I was thinking about that. The town was nice and literally with maybe a few dozens of people and when I asked Rosie, she told me that most of the families just homeschooled their kids and only for high school they already sent them to the big city.
“I know. We would fix it somehow. We have one year to figure out some plan.” I replied to him and he relaxed. “How are things with our future Luna?” He asked me suddenly. He was one of the few who knew the whole story about me and my cute little mate.
“Still the same, by the way, thanks to that you agreed to train her,” I replied to him and he smiled at me. “Well, did you figure out where we should train? I couldn’t train a werewolf who is pretending to be a human in front of the whole pack, could I?” He asked but it was actually not a question. Honestly, this little part I still didn’t figure out. The basement in her cabin was too small and too far. I need to figure out something else. We built an underground training zone for winter on the opposite side of the hospital but that is not a very private place. I sighed. This was another problem. I could not find a solution on how to fix this.
“Hey, guys.” I heard the most melodic voice from behind us and quickly turned to see my cute little mate. “Good morning sunshine.” I greeted her back and she gave me the sweetest smile one could get. Her attitude changed drastically over the last month and she became more open and sweeter which I could not even imagine was actually possible. I am still not completely sure how sure I would handle the whole thing with the pack returning but at least those who were here became her friends and she warmed towards them easily. I hope they all would help as her anchor while interacting with the new people.
“Good morning Luna.” I heard Zack greeting her with the title she would be wearing very soon and her cheeks turned red immediately. She opened herself a lot but didn’t lose anything from her cuteness. “Don’t call me that, please. I am not Luna yet.” She replied to me and he shook his head. “I don’t care if you would become Luna after five months. You already are our Luna and I am sure the others would tell you the same.” He replied to her and her cheeks were glowing red. I had to chuckle on her reaction. “Don’t tease her that much Zack or she might burn from the hotness in her cheeks,” I added a little bit into his teasing. She came closer to me and punched me into my chest with her clenched fist. I was pretending to be severely hurt collapsing onto the ground. “Stop torturing me! Both of you!” She ordered and I could feel tingling over my body. She accidentally used her Alpha voice but because she is still not fully matured it is not very effective. After her ceremony when she would become part of the pack, she would be able to command others the same as I do. After her eighteenth birthday when she fully matures it would be even stronger. ‘I couldn’t wait for that.’ Thoth told me and I could relate to that. I was kind of hot seeing that like this. Honestly, I was getting a little afraid of what if she might be stronger than I am.
I was still on the ground pretending to be severely hurt when she finally leaned closer and kissed me on top of my head. I became healed in an instant and she smiled once again. “What brings you here my little princess?” I asked her and she pouted her lips. She liked the sunshine and princess but she always pouted when I used the word little. I swear once a day I would die from her cuteness.
But don’t be mistaken. As she is small and cute, she is also evil. I had the chance to see it with my own two eyes. “Well, I was thinking since tomorrow the rest of the pack would arrive, maybe we could prepare some kind of party similar to the one you made for me when I first came to the pack. I know it would be difficult to feed several hundreds of people but we have a very nice and big space in the middle of the pack right beside the pack house. It is the training ground you created and the only place where we could place most of the people. Anyway, I think they would stay in groups and just come for drinks and food. Also, it is the place where we could make three fireplaces and we could grill the meat right over the fire.” I know what she was suggesting. She wanted to go hunting which would give us the means but since it is a bit of a lot, we could actually really enjoy some relaxation and go hunting together. Three or four preys should be enough to feed them all.
“Well since I could see that actually your goal is to make us go hunting guess there is no problem with that,” I told her and her eyes were instantly widened from the excitement. I already knew that she is an amazing tracker and hunter in her human form. She was still hiding her wolf from me but that was not the problem now.
“Anyway, we need to start hunting and dry and smoke the meat for winter,” I told her and now I could see the eyes of a small child over the first present that was just given to him. She never ceased to amuse or surprise me with her reactions. I couldn’t imagine that she is already one month here with us. Zack rebuilt her cabin but she already moved her clothes and stuff into her room here and also, she was working here on her medicine. Also, her routine of going to town didn’t change.
“I would tell Emily and Tamara to prepare the place and fireplaces. We need to prepare the meat today and leave it overnight in the tub with the spices and some oil. I could guarantee that tomorrow nothing would be left after my recipe.” This time my eyes widened. I already knew she was amazing in the kitchen the same as she was with her medicine or cosmetics. I learned that she has an amazing skill when it comes to butchering. I have to admit this little girl is full of surprises and secrets. ‘Which you are enjoying to uncover one by one.’ Thoth commented and I agreed. “I am sure I would enjoy the hunting but honestly eating your food is like being in heaven. Please don’t tell Tamara that I said that.” Zack commented and I had to laugh sensing Tamara not so far from us. It was time for breakfast so I guess Tamara came to fetch us to come for food. “What she should not tell me?” She asked but I was sure she heard him perfectly. His chance to admit what he just said before the real storm starts.
“Nothing sweetheart, nothing.” He said and I already felt sorry for him. ‘Wrong answer bro.’ I mind-linked to him and he gave me a painful look asking for help. I literally laughed on the spot. She pinched his ears before catching it and was not pulling him after her holding his ear. “You should never lie to your mate,” I shouted after them.
Rei stood beside me laughing the same as I did. She unconsciously searched for my hand until we stood there watching those two arguing on their way back to the dining room with Zack suffering his punishment holding our hands.
“Is the hunt the only thing you are interested in or did you suggest this party because of something else?” I asked once we were completely alone. She looked up at me with those deer eyes. I could not resist gazing right into them. “I was thinking we could use this as a distraction for the people and since the elders would be there we could proceed with that ceremony. You know I would have to transform into my wolf and fewer people would see my true form, saver for this pack.” She said and I could see the pain in her eyes. If she doesn’t want to do it, it would be okay, but for some reason, she insisted on this ceremony since I told her about it one month ago.
“Why are you so obsessed with the ceremony now?” I asked her. She avoided my question several times before and I wasn’t sure she would answer this time. “Because of Maat. From tomorrow when the rest of the pack arrives it would be very hard for us to sneak around in our wolf form and I am not planning to let her run any soon. At least not until all the preparation to secure our pack is done. I think
you would understand tomorrow once you see my wolf.” She said and I could not miss the pain and sadness in her voice. More and more I was getting curious about what is so wrong with her wolf. Why was she so obsessed with hiding her? “Alright then,” I told her. I could not stand to let her like this. It hurt me from seeing her sadness and so worried. I wanted to just take all the worries and throw them away. “We would prepare the party to distract everyone and we would make this ceremony,” I told her. She was right. If she would be only human, she doesn’t need to shift because the human has no wolf and they could become part of the pack to share our mind link if they have the mate inside the pack. But being a wolf means the shift is forced upon you since the vow is done by humans and by wolf too to make sure they are both on the same boat and agree to become and oblige the Alpha of the pack.
Chapter 21
REI’S POV:
The elders arrived with the first group and the moment they registered my presence, they separated themselves from the group and headed directly towards me and Hannah who was standing right beside me. Saying I was terrified would be an understatement. One of them was wearing a disgusted expression the moment his eyes landed on me and he noticed my silver hair. “Relax. They would not hurt you. They would go against you if they would have to but they would not go against Calen.” Hannah pressed my hand in assurance and support and I did relax a little bit. “Who is the guy behind them? The one with the disgusted expression.” I asked her. She looked at them before she spoke again, her gaze locked with that guy. “That’s Ismail, the father of Andrew. He lost his mate during the rogue attack before. The same one Calen lost his parents. He-.” She paused so I could see she was looking for correct words to describe him. “He has changed since then.” She finished. “But don’t worry. He couldn’t do anything to you, not since you are future Luna.” She reassured me again and I felt like some kind of burden dropped from my chest. Still not enough to let me breathe freely thou.
“Good afternoon.” I greeted them once they were close enough to hear us. We were standing quite far so no one from the incoming would see me unless they really paid attention to this side but Hannah linked with the Elders so they went straight to us. “Good evening.” Sounded back and I could feel excitement and confusion from their voices and auras except for that one guy. ‘We should be careful about this one.’ Maat informed me and I definitely agreed with her. Something felt off about this guy and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
“I think we should head right to the sacred land. I know you already managed to create one with the Alpha blood.” The other elder woman said and Hannah nodded to her. “We prepared the place with Calen during the last Full Moon,” Hannah replied to her. “Perfect, so when this rogue takes the oath it would stay in her blood so she would not be able to betray us.” That guy Ismail said with the voice filled with hate. I wanted to punch him. Maybe it was not my own feelings but Maat’s but I felt an urge to really punch him.
“Call her like that one more and you would have a real problem.” I could hear Hannah growling pointing at him giving him a serious threat. He didn’t step back a single step but I could feel his aura changing and the fear started to emanate from his pores. Hannah was really something. I could also feel the power in her voice. ‘She is Alpha power?’ I asked Maat but she shook her head. Maat probably knew but refused to tell me what this power is.
“Now it is time to go,” Hannah ordered and the other Elders obliged. Ismail was murmuring something and I am sure Hannah could understand him but she didn’t comment anything. She just put a smirk on her face. Over the last month, I really liked this woman. She was overprotective when it comes to the pack but she was absolutely amazing with everything she does. No matter what was going on she always came up with some plan.
The sacred land was not so far from the pack. We ran several minutes to the North to the mountain that was connecting this whole area around. I knew that around this mountain is my place. The sacred land was built right at the foot of the mountain where fewer trees were so there was enough clear space for several dozens of wolves. “It would be better to take the oath during Full Moon but I guess we don’t have that much luxury to wait until then, plus I understand the reason. Good that you are thinking that much about your wolf's well-being.” Hannah spoke to me once we arrived at the clearing. The Elders were checking the place, smelling it around. The whole point to create a sacred land is practically pouring the Alphas blood in a circle to create an area bound to Alpha’s would. We had the same place in my old pack and my dad was telling me that once I bring home my mate, we would pour his blood over my dad’s so he could become a new Alpha of the pack.
“I know you wanted to come here earlier because you have questions that you want to be answered before we take her into our pack,” Hannah spoke, turning her attention to the Elders who were now sitting around on the boulders and looking at me. Hannah pressed my hand again, giving me a supporting look.
“Yes.” The other woman spoke. “But I think we should first introduce ourselves.” She suggested and Hannah smiled at her. “I am Leona, you could call me Lea if you would like to. Over there is Philip, my brother.” She pointed with her finger and I saw a guy with wavy black hair and dark chocolate eyes who was slightly bowing his head to me. “Over there is Peter.” She pointed to another guy sitting beside Philip. He was smiling at me. He had the same green eyes as Emily so assumed this was probably her father. He also slightly bowed to me and returned the greetings.
“I assume grumpy Ismail was already introduced by Hannah before.” She even didn’t point to him, which I didn’t care about. I knew exactly about whom she was talking. “So, first of all, we already knew the story you told Hannah about the Silver Moon pack and we are deeply sorry for your loss my child.” She continued giving me a sad look. I seated myself on the ground since I was expecting this to take some time.
“There are still some parts we would like to know,” Peter asked. When I saw the eyes of those guys, they were the same. For some reason the only one interested and confused were men. Hannah with Lea was just sitting there with the look saying they understand absolutely everything but they were not willing to share their knowledge with the men. I looked to Hannah and Lea and they both winked at me supportively.
“How is it possible that you were the only survivor? How is it possible that you managed to hide from the attackers and they didn’t find you by your scent, especially with your wolf already with you?” Peter asked me. I was ready to start explaining but Hannah beat me with the talk.
“What do you know about the Silver Moon pack, Silver Crescent pack, and Silver Full Moon pack?” She asked him and earned the full attention even from the other two guys. Lea put a smirk on her face. She already knew what Hannah was trying to do.
“They were really peaceful. They never accompanied any other packs into the war, attack, or defense. They were never attacked by anyone and Alpha was always appointed from outside.” He summarized and Hannah scoffed. “Well, that’s actually very poor knowledge my dear. But I am not surprised. Men mostly don’t have the knowledge of our ancestors unless they are mated to one of the women from those packs.” Hannah commented and Peter’s eyes widened. “What do you mean by our ancestors?” He asked her back. Hannah seated herself on the boulder right beside me and placed the hand on top of my hand. “This girl here is the only survivor of the royal packs. The packs are made purely by she-wolves. The men got into the pack only by mating process once the she-wolf found her mate. Even the mating process was different. The males were usually feeling the strong pull and most of them had to become rogues to fill the urge to visit those packs. If you check the map, the territory was built around that Moon Goddess sacred temple where no one is allowed to enter. It is the place where only a spirit wolf is allowed to set her foot on those grounds once her time comes.” Hannah paused and I could hear the laughter from Ismail. He definitely didn’t believe it, even I had a hard time believing what she said. It wou
ld mean that some of the information my dad told me was true but I always took them as bedtime stories from him.
“You want to tell us that those three packs were made only by
females? And what about their Alphas?” Ismail asked
sarcastically. “As I said, they were pulled to their mates and became
Alphas once they mated with the Alpha daughter. There is much more to know about those three packs but you should know I am not lying. Once you would go to the town you would see the crest of the city. This whole town was built by our ancestors and that’s why the late Alpha and his wife sent their only daughter to this area. No one would find her here.” Hannah spoke calmly but I could see that the guys had a hard time believing her story. They weren’t the only ones. I was also not sure I fully understood what she was implying. Am I some kind of royalty or what? I asked myself. “How do you know about this?” Philip asked Hannah and she gave him a soft smile. “My mother taught me. Did you forget that my mother was originally from Silver Crescent?” She asked and now I understood why she said she knew my mom. Our pack had rarely visitors from outside except the Silver Crescent and Silver Full Moon packs. We were strongly connected to them.
